Of course! I've got a multi meter and going to invest in an ohm checker. I'm very handy with building things I'm a wizard when it comes to electronics but never really dabbled into what actually is happening when a battery is discharging or being put under load ect ect. I do intend to do research and learn as much as much as I can before even firing mech. Like I said though not trying to chase clouds or anything like that just want a nice mellow vape experience and tinkering with these things is another good way to keep my mind off of analogs!

I've been watching a lot of rip trippers coil building videos and it seems simple enough as long as you have the proper tools. But I will most certainly test coils before firing I'll start off making 2.0 ohm coils for a 1.0 dual before I even look at going any lower!

Thanks again guys! I'll let you know how things go when I get my mech and coils built.

You can use your multimeter as an ohm reader.

Also, get yourself an "Ohms law calculator" You can find them online or even on the app store for your smartphone. That way you'll know what you new coils will produce for current and if your batteries will even handle them safely.

So quick recap,
I want to be able to vape a mech mod through the day with low risk of injury.
I'll be using a trident mod with halo juice
I'm not chasing clouds
What ohm coil would be most comfortable to use without any risk to harming the battery or myself
Should I invest in a kick/kick2 mod if I want to vape a mech on a regular basis

Thanks so much guys!
Hopefully I can get some good replys an figure this all out

Much love

Hi, welcome to the forum.

You had some good advise here. But I'll pitch in as well.

First of all here here some good info about RBA's. And here is some info about batteries, and here, you've got more info about batteries.

Here is a cheat sheet concerning safe resistances vs batteries.

You will find a ohms law calculator here.

Now, if you want to be able to vape through the day using the least numbers of batteries as possible, go with the 18650 size batteries. However, when choosing a battery, don't go with the higher mAh rating. A high the amp limit or max. discharge rate is what you want to aim for.

If you don't want to chase clouds, there is absolutely no point in building dual coils. A single 0.8 to 1.1 ohm coil is easier to do and will be more than enough to satisfy your needs and you will be in the "safe resistance limit" for pretty much every good IMR batteries that are out there.

The kick 2 would be a great way to add safety to your device. Not only does the kick contains eletronic battery protection but it would allow you to build a 2.0ish coil and provide enough power for it to be satisfying.

Vape on.... Vape safe!!

EDIT: I would strongly suggest a Kayfun lite atomizer, it doesnt leak, tastes like a dripper and convinient as a tank... You can easily find clones of it out there.

Thanks so much, i can see the community here is super informed and willing to help out the newbies! which is amazing! It's also hard to find when dealing with interweb forums. I'll be purchasing the sony batteries mentioned in this thread, i've picked up a charger an ohm checker and will look into a kayfun clone. Since i'll be doing a lot of reading before firing i'll be building different ohm coils to see if i can hit the proper ohms. Ordered from a Chinese website so it will be a while before i'm able to do anything but vape on my little triton and read away!

Thanks so much for the great help!
