Hello everyone!

First off I'd like to say I've been lurking around the forums and doing some research an figured I'd join the community! after buying a greensmoke kit I quickly bought a triton tank kit. I've also ordered a few mech clones, I'll end up buying a real one at some point just getting the feel of it first. At any rate I've been looking around trying to figure oout what the best set up would be for vaping I'll be using a trident atty, halo juices. I'm not sure what ohm coil would work best an what would be the safest to do if I wanted to vape it often during the day. I don't want to blow myself up, I've been reading up on safety precautions and am familiar with the risks of using lipo batterys(coming from rc) so I know they are a force not to be trifled with. Trying to keep this short I'm on my phone an this text has no structure an is all over the place!

So quick recap,
I want to be able to vape a mech mod through the day with low risk of injury.
I'll be using a trident mod with halo juice
I'm not chasing clouds
What ohm coil would be most comfortable to use without any risk to harming the battery or myself
Should I invest in a kick/kick2 mod if I want to vape a mech on a regular basis

Thanks so much guys!
Hopefully I can get some good replys an figure this all out

Much love
Buddha!

Hello, new here but not a new vaper so I feel comfortable giving some advice, been using mech mods for a while. first off you want a high amp battery maybe a MNKE 18650 or a Sony VTC4 they are rated at 30amps so even if you build your coil very low the risk of injury or damaging the battery will be very low.

+1 for the VTC4

Jetbatteries.com has them for 39.95 for 4 of them.

If you use the trident atty you probably want to build dual coils which i recomend somewhere between 0.8 or 0.7 ohms, youll be blown away with the flavor vapor etc. You could also get yourself a ohm reader to make sure what resistance you are using.

With 0.8 duals does that mean two coils at 0.8 which would amount to 1.6 ohms in total?

Julpin! Thanks for the quick reply I'll look into batteries I've just bought the atty and clones for now I want to ensure I have a basic understanding of how things will work, I'm most concerned about what coil I should run, I had seen somewhere 1.8ohms With 28 gauge kanthal should wwork comfortably with a mech.

Buddha.

I am hesitant to say it here because i'll probably get flamed big time, but I think you will be very dissapointed with 1.8 ohm on a mech and dripping RDA. If you want to stay on the safe side and still get a pretty good vape, maybe around the, dare I say .8 to 1 ohm range. Maybe even as high as 1.2. I should add you'd still be pretty well off at around .6 with the sony us18650vtc4.

Just my two cents.

No, that is not the way it works with dual coils. When you make dual coils the total resistance of each coil is divided into two for example. If you want 1.8 dual coil you have to make two 3.6 ohm coils, which will end up being 1.8 dual coils.

Very true, I dont think you will be happy with a 1.8 dual or single coil on a mech.

So to hit the .6 mark let's say I'd have to make two 1.2 coils?

Yup that is correct. I wouldn't start off that low until you get used to making coils and know what they do and have the right equipment, batteries, etc. Try to get to around 1 to 1.2 ohm to start. You can always take one or two wraps out to go lower if you don't like it.

Just trying to be safe, don't want to be an irresponsible vape that gives you all a bad rep. But .6-8 would be a good ohm to aim for? think I might try and aim for .9/1.0 incase I'm off by a .0 of an ohm or two.

By all means.....DON'T GUESS WHAT YOU HAVE FOR OHMS!!!!. Get a meter or ohm reader and make damn sure before you fire it.

You can start by making yourself a 1 ohm coil. See what you think about it but dont worry, if you get the correct battery .6 .8 is perfectly safe.

You will be better off to stay away from sub ohm until you get used to building coils and know what you are getting into. I suggest you do alot of research before you start building any coils at all. There are alot of people here who have done the research and you can and should practice the 1 and over ohm coils to see if they work for you before you go lower.

You may not need to go lower if it works for you.

Of course! I've got a multi meter and going to invest in an ohm checker. I'm very handy with building things I'm a wizard when it comes to electronics but never really dabbled into what actually is happening when a battery is discharging or being put under load ect ect. I do intend to do research and learn as much as much as I can before even firing mech. Like I said though not trying to chase clouds or anything like that just want a nice mellow vape experience and tinkering with these things is another good way to keep my mind off of analogs!

I've been watching a lot of rip trippers coil building videos and it seems simple enough as long as you have the proper tools. But I will most certainly test coils before firing I'll start off making 2.0 ohm coils for a 1.0 dual before I even look at going any lower!

Thanks again guys! I'll let you know how things go when I get my mech and coils built.
