Came in the post this morning with my sigelei 100w.

I can't for life of me coil this sucker!
27/28/30 awg and my ohms are sky high! Sometimes 8+

I follow the videos I have seen and after slipping the wires through the ceramic cup, i tighten the screws. The coil doesn't move but it's like 6.6ohms!
What am I doing wrong here?

Using coil toy, in aiming for around 1ohm so it's between 6-10 wraps depending on the gauge of wire im using.

Can anybody help because I'm going out or my mind :(

have you tried adjusting the pin on the box mod? I've notice with my sigelei that if the pin is a little to loose it tends to misread the coils and shoots my resistance all over the place

Sounds like you have a short in the build, check if the atomizers 510 pin is pushed in and contacting the sides of the 510 connector or if there are broken insulators.

Well doesn't look like there are issues with the insulator or 510 pin. Do you have an RDA to test the ohm meter if the ohm meter is faulty or a multimeter to test the atty you are using atm for continuity without the coil in? If the multimeter beeps on the continuity setting, you have a short in the atty and should either disassemble it as much as possible and see if some insulator is broken or just send a message to the store you bought it from and tell them it's defective.

First off, a "short" doesn't give you high resistance. A short means direct connection between + and - and would give you 0 ohms. High resistance means a poor connection somewhere.

I just watched a build video and can offer these possibilities:
- Your leads may not have gone in and met the capture screws
- You over tightened the screws and cut the wire
- One or more of the leads missed the holes and folded over under the cup

After you install the cup and tighten your screws, try lifting the coil with your mandrel to make sure everything is connected. Also, make sure you account for the extra lead length in your coil/wrap calculations. Looks to be at least 5mm...

Thank you for watching the build vid :)
I ve watched 3 different ones also.
I take the small Screws out completely, push the cup in, then push the legs through the cup and into the holes and check to make sure I can see them (because the screws are out I can check)
Then I screw in gently, check and get high ohms.
Screw in abit more and get the same high ohms.
Screw as tight as I can and the ohms don't change.

They are deff touching the screws as the coil doesn't move when I give it a tug.

What are the chances it could be faulty though? I understand it can happen, but has anyone ever had or heard of someone they know getting something like an atty and it being faulty right off the bat?

I suppose anything's possible, I got a clone RBA once where the negative posts just spun in the deck...

One check of the atty would be to just take a piece of wire and make a jumper from one hole to the other and tighten the screws. Check the resistance and see if it registers 1 or more ohms (depending on the length). That should rule out any problems with the base itself.

The video I watched showed the guy putting the coil into the cup then installing that into the base...

I have an mvp, the sig 100w and an ohm meter to see what the ohms come up at and they are all showing 6+ :(

What are the chances that it's defective? Thought the Germans were good at stuff like this!
I took the copper pin out the bottom but don't even know what I'm looking for.
Isn't the kaiser produced by Yii Loong, which is a chinese company, also I have ordered lots of different items that have been defective right out of the box, and 0.5cm extra lenght in wire does not cause a microcoil to jump up to 6ohms unless you are using a damn thin kanthal, like 0.1mm or under which I don't think is even being produced

I did this and it registered at a flat 4 ohms.
When I did it with a coil, it was about 5.1 ohms.
The difference being 1.1 ohms is what I was aiming for on the coil.
What's happening here :(?

Sounds like yoi have something that causes a 'resistance short' in your atomizer, like a piece of wire or burrs of metal from positive and negative side touching eachother. Try disassembling the whole tank to pieces, e.g. take out all insulators, ceramics, screws and so on and see if there are holes in the insulators and if any metal burrs are touching eachother where they shouldn't. The ohm meter should register a flat 0 when no coil is installed in the rda/rba, so you have something wrong with the atty itself. As I said, multiple devices can come doa or defect out of the box.

Well it looks like an issue with the base of the atty giving you a poor connection then. Somewhere inside the air control chamber they have a connection that transfers power from the center post of the 510 to the outer positive post, maybe a spring or something. Does the air control chamber come apart? If the air chamber is press fit together, you may have a poor connection there.

You never mentioned if this is a clone or an authentic.

I wouldn't recommend taking it apart if you aren't comfortable about doing it. I'm a technician and take things apart to see what makes them tick all the time. The only thing I know about your atty is what I gathered from that one build video that I watched but can grantee that there are at least 3 connection points between the 510 and the positive post that could be at fault.

If it's new, and you bought it from a local shop, I would just say take it back and let them deal with it. By putting that jumper in, we've ruled out any problems with your build and now it becomes an issue with the atty...
