I'm looking for a peppermint that's strong, crisp & sharp like the mint in a peppermint patty type without the chocolate. The mint in Halo's Kringle's Curse is close, but I'd like to make it myself (Halo is a little bit expensive). I got a bottle of TFA peppermint flavoring and it's not even close to the right peppermint flavor. I'm really hoping someone can point me to a peppermint flavoring that's close to the flavor I'm looking for.

I suspect that Halo might add other ingredients to their liquids such as sweetners? Often the first mistake of the novice DIY'er is to add too much flavouring and not allowing enough time to steep before discarding the mix as rubbish. Many menthols have variety of mint flavours in them but with the peppermint being the most prominent.

I DIY and use Organic Flavorings. Forget the artificial cr..p from TPA.
Even though it says oil, never had a problem with gumming up of my rba at all. Vaporizes very clean.

My base is Organic Peppermint. I buy it in 16 ounce bottles from Cooks Vanilla Organic Peppermint Extract 4oz. - Cook Flavoring Company Organic Peppermint | Cook Flavoring Company
Then I add other flavors as topnotes.

Best price/quality for Organic peppermint is Cooks Vanilla.
More Expensive is Nature's Flavors

I didn't see much difference between the two.

Yeah the TFA doesn't even really smell like a decent peppermint. The only way I can think to describe what I'm looking for is the middle part of a York Peppermint Patty, and what's in this bottle doesn't even come close. Thank you guys. tomzgreat what else do you add for top notes and what kind of steeping time do you give it?

If you'd like to start with a match of Halo's flavor, see post #260 here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-liquid-recipes/421670-clone-recipes-26.html#post11993350

With all organic flavorings in a simple two flavoring formula, there is no steeping necessary. In fact I think it tastes best right after you mix it. I know 2 flavors, what can I say, I'm a simple guy.

I primarily use Menthol or Cinnamon [Not Mixed] as my top note. After I've made my batch I add 1 drop per Ml to finish it off.
As funny as it sounds my vaping liquid has become like my coffee. I like it just about the same way every time.

Natures Flavors Cinnamon is different from cooks Cinamon. Both good in different ways. But you can add anything as a top note. Chocolate, Butter Pecan it all tastes good.
