OK guys and gals, here's the deal:

I've been researching into this whole ecig thing as a way to stop smoking. I currently smoke up to 2 packs a day.

I've decided to order my first e cig today (friday) from cignot. I'll be getting the joye 510 kit that goes for 35.00. I figure that's the cheapest I can get going on vaping while still getting a quality product. I reckon I can always add to it in the future, or try different models etc. For now I just want to get started.

So here is what I need - I need to know what to get in addition to the 510 kit. I know I'll need more juice, so if you can recommend a good supplier that would be appreciated. I know I'll have to try a bunch of flavors, so if you could just tell me where, I'll figure out what.

Also, I'd like to get on a schedule of ordering supplies no more often than every 2 weeks. Based on 2 packs a day, what else will I need to get me through the first 2 weeks? How much juice? How many carts, atomizers, etc?

Finally, I'm still just a bit foggy on some of the lingo (although I've been reading a great deal here) so I don't know if I need blank carts, cartomizers, carburetors, or what - also don't know how many I'll need.

Thanks for all the help on this, I'm really looking forward to getting off the analogs and taking back control of my life and health. #$) I'm sick of smoking!

Hi! As long as you plan to order more stuff in a couple of weeks, I'd say to just get about four or five different kinds of juice in a couple different strengths. Make sure you get some that's around 24mg and some around 12mg too because you won't know what's going to work until you try it. I'll let someone else recommend where to buy it perhaps they know where to get a sample pack these days.

I also recommend that you look into modding your cart asap too - I like the blue foam mod and the stuff for it is really cheap and you can get it at any pet store that sells aquarium stuff. (youtube for how to do it - it's easy)

When you're ready to place your next order we'll talk about battery life. If I could do it all over again I'd have bought an eGo instead because it's interchangeable with all my 510 parts but the battery lasts me all day (or at least 7-8 hours if I'm vaping a lot) bit I started with the $35 510 kit too and now I have two 510 batteries that just sit there as a backup in case something happens to my eGo.

Good Luck!

I looked long and hard at the ego, but the price is somewhat prohibitive. I checked several sites and it seems that they only come in a kit that goes for around 80 bucks.

I figure that if the 2 batteries that come with the 510 can get me through the day, I can recharge them at night (we'll see how well this plan works out)

If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with the eGo too, but I'm not sorry I have my standard 510 to fall back on.....
A few suppliers that sell sample packs are: MyFreedomSmokes, Nhaler, Vapor Station. I've used juices from all of them, and continue to do so.
I've never used cartomizers, so can't comment on them, but you'll do fine to get some blank carts. Everyone seems to like changing out the filler that comes in the cart at some point, but you can start with the filler that comes with. Just rinse it out periodically and reuse it. (And the carts themselves too).

Can I assume that a cartomizer is a cross between a cart and an atomizer? Probably a stupid question, but hey, I'm brand new to this

!
You bought a 510 kit through Cignot (great supplier btw). They also sell EcoPure liquids. I would STRONGLY suggest you get a bottle of the "rich" blend. It's almost flavorless (slight caramel flavor, but not sweet) and doesn't leave any residue behind (none that I can see anyway). Then get sampler packs from other vendors. Most sell "dekang" (chinese) liquids and I like very few of those flavors.

There are a few vendors that make liquids here in the states. Totally Wicked has a US made blend. Johnson Creek makes their own. DIYflavorshack, PureSMoker is starting to, etc.

But I need to stress getting samples or small bottles of liquids to try out before buying tons of e-liquid that you may not like.

If you don't like some of sample flavors, EcoPure's "rich" blend should always be at least refreshing if not fully flavored and you can enjoy that until you recieve another sample pack or liquid to try out. Another clean and very popular flavor among my friends and family is Strictly E-Juices Candy Cane and/or Chocolate Candy Cane (I never could taste any "chocolate" in the latter). Both are light peppermint flavors that are very enjoyable. It's cheap too ;)

Also, I'd like to get on a schedule of ordering supplies no more often than every 2 weeks. Based on 2 packs a day, what else will I need to get me through the first 2 weeks? How much juice? How many carts, atomizers, etc?!

My wife and I smoked a combined 3 packs a day before we started. We found 24mg strength liquid to be sufficient to overcome our nicotine cravings. At the height of our use, we went through a combined 2-3 ml's per day. So you're probably looking at two 30ml bottles per month (once you settle on a few favorite flavors).

As far as atomizers go. We typically go though about 2-3 atomizers each per month. Sometimes an atty will last a couple of days, and sometimes a month or two. But generally, we can get about 2 weeks out of an atomizer with the proper care.

We also both prefer the dripping method instead of carts (less mess and fuss), so we only use drip tips (buy one and you're done for life). Super T manufacturing and PureSmoker sell Stainless steel tips.

Finally, I'm still just a bit foggy on some of the lingo (although I've been reading a great deal here) so I don't know if I need blank carts, cartomizers, carburetors, or what - also don't know how many I'll need. !

You should always have at least 1 spare battery and 3 spare atty's in reserve (Atty's come with a blank cart installed--but with no filler). If you run out of supplies and ever need to use something from your reserve, Replace it immediately.

Thanks for all the help on this, I'm really looking forward to getting off the analogs and taking back control of my life and health. #$) I'm sick of smoking!

Good luck on your journey my friend :thumb:

Also while we're at it...could someone tell me step by step what I need to do once I get it? Basically I need a tutorial for going from opening the box to first hit. I know I've read some stuff about it, but right now I'm on information overload and kinda need someone to help me out here.

There are some guides here on the forum, but the short of it is this.

Charge the batteries.

Blow out an atomizer before using it. (blow into it while holding the atomizers threaded side gently in a napkin). Keep blowing through it until nothing comes out.

If you bought some extra liquid:
Drip about 3-4 drops directly into the atomizer and let it sit for a few seconds.

Install a "Blank" cart and puff lightly on the e-cig to get it primed. After 3 or 4 short puffs, take a hit =]. Basically slowly draw on it for about 3-5 seconds (don't suck too hard) and then inhale.

Install a freshly loaded up cart that came with it and you should be good to go.

If you didn't buy any extra liquid:
Open a fresh cart and line it up on the atomizer (look inside and you'll see almost the same shape as that on the bottom of your cart). Insert the cart.

Now... wait a little while as liquid is transferred/absorbed by the atty's bridge.

Take 3 or 4 short puffs (don't inhale).

Then, take a hit. Basically slowly draw on it for about 3-5 seconds and then inhale.

A cart will eventually start creating larger plumes of smoke near the end as it starts to dry up. When you notice this (or if the vapor gets harsher than normal), simply top it off with liquid, or grab a new cart and repeat.

I was at a pack and a half a day and found that dripping was much better for me. Carts couldn't keep up, particularly in the morning and after a drink. I use elixirliquid.com for my stuff since Greg is a good guy who will help and answer. If you call you will talk to the owner, not some operator. His flavors are really strong and good. I love the cinnabun - passing a cinnabon the other day I craved a vape, not the roll - lol. I would guve him a try and his prices are good too.

The 501 is a 3-piece -- battery, atomizer and cartridge. You pull the cartridge out of the atomizer, add liquid, put it back and vape some more.

You can also buy cartomizers which are a combined atomizer and cartridge. The one for the 510 can hold almost a milliliter of liquid so you don't have to fill it often. And it can be used with a drip tip. The downside of cartos is that they hold a lot of liquid -- if you fill it with one you don't like, you'll be vaping it for a while. That's why it's not a bad idea to have a few atomizer and cartridge combos to try new flavors before committing to them.

The Cignot No Box kit is the basic 3-piece 510. The two batteries that come with it are probably enough for now. 510 batteries don't last very long but if you put one on the charger as soon as you switch, you should be fine. (ETA: I've never had a batt die on me. If you are worried about that, buy a third one so you won't be waiting for your only one to recharge before you can vape again.)

If you are planning to get very pungent liquids, you should probably get an extra atomizer or two (or a pack of cartomizers.) Some flavors, like Tasty Vapor's Atomic Cinnacide, linger no matter how often you clean the atomizer.

The kit will come with 5 pre-filled cartridges (Marlboro flavor.) Buy some blanks carts. Cignot has them in the "accessories" section. They're cheap.

If you think that you will want to buy a battery mod (a casing that holds a long-lasting battery to replace you short-lived stock batts), then the above and liquid is all you need right now. If you are likely to stick with the standard model for a while, you should consider:

Pass-though -- when you are near a USB port you can attach your atomizer to that and not use up your battery so you don't have to recharge it as often. (Mine has been collecting dust ever since I got my Little Chuck.)

PCC case -- if you are on the go a lot, you charge the case and it recharges the standard batts for you. If you decide to buy extra batteries, remember that the 510 Mega batteries will not fit in a PCC case.

I was also fond of my USB charger. When I got to work I'd charge my batteries off the computer (or use it with the $5 AC to USB adapter.)

ETA: If you feel the battery mods are prohibitively expensive, keep track of how much you aren't spending on your two-packs a day. Even at North Carolina prices it will add up pretty fast and you'll have saved enough to buy one. And, by then, you'll have learn about a lot of them and will have a better chance of buying the right one for you.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help on this, I'll be ordering this later this morning.

I know I'll be dripping; is there anything I need to order to be able to do this? Someone mentioned something about a stainless steel drip tip? Also, I've read where people buy larger quantities of liquid and mix their own, or cut it with other stuff - can anyone explain this and whether I should be worried about it in the beginning?

Thanks!

Personally ID hold off on the drip tip stainless tell version til you get used to vaping more, but thats jsut me. Dont want you to shell out lots of $ until you're sold on it :)
Supertmanufacturing make em btw; they have a forum thread in suppliers forum too. You can get rubbery ones also - I know Nhaler carry some, not sure who else. I jsut use an empty cart :D
Ditto with DIY juices - thats usually something to think about a little bit later imo rather than from the get-go. But theres a sub-forum on mix-it-yourself too, to help if you decide to do taht.
Good luck!

I tend to agree with Captjay, you don't need to purchase the drip tip right away. If you decide to drip then take the filling out of an empty cart, by empty I mean no juice, drip on the atty bridge, put the empty cart(w/o filler) on and vape. There's also a section on the forum about dripping. Good Luck with your new hobby! Lol
