I was recommended getting aKanger Evod 2 Starter Kit from one of my friends who got it at VapeDojo for around $40. Took a look at it and it looks great, any comments from the forum about this??? Good deal?? To me personally, the setup looked cool because the coil only needed replacement and the tank could be cleaned which would save you tons, also they said the flavor of the ejuices is much better than with the hardware I have now (V2)...

Looks to me like you've made your 5 posts... so feel free to hit the other forums. I'm unfamiliar with V2's but a quick glance seems to indicate that it uses 808 threading. If that's the case, you might be able to find an adapter to the more common 510 connector....

I saw this converter for sale, my batteries have lasted over a year so I can't complain. If anything, the cost of carts and/or clears is what bugs me since they can't be cleaned indefinitely..

This looks like a decent starter set for a decent price. Two things you will need to be aware of:

1) The tanks are plastic--not glass--so you will have some limitations on **some** flavors (mostly citrus and cinnamon)--however, the majority of flavors will be fine.

2) The coils that you will be using for these tanks will be the dual coil heads. The benefit of dual coils is that they provide increased flavor and vapor (though just how much is still a matter of some debate). The downside of using dual coils is that they sometimes need more power for a satisfying vape--and the batteries of the kit, providing a fixed output of 3.7 volts, may not be able to deliver enough power for you. If, after trying these for a while, feel that this is the case, you would then have two possible solutions: get a variable voltage battery (like a twist or a spinner--or something fancier) or you could purchase some Protank 2 Mini bases (they can be found on line for about $3 at various vendors) and use single coil heads. However, that would be a bridge to cross when you come to it. For now, I think the kit would be a good step up from your V2s.

That is one of the clear disadvantages of the ciggalike brands. It may be cheaper than smoking, but they still have you hooked.

Okay..... LOL.... So I took the advice of the forum members and got myself a new setup. Looking at price vs. Performance, I chose the Kanger Evod 2 Starter Kit. I have to say the vapor production and taste is far superior to my V2. Also, the clear is glass and easily cleanable, only needing a coil change, which is far less expensive than replacing the whole cart/clear. Also, coils can be rebuilt so that's an option. I'll keep you posted...

Congratulations, Ioniancat! You're now well on your way to spending a fortune in search of the perfect vape! Seriously, though, you should be a lot happier and can also now sample flavors from anyone (I don't know if you could or could not with the V2). I am surprised to hear that your Evod 2 Starter kit has glass tanks--as the Evod 2 is known to be a plastic tank with dual coils and distinct from the the Evod Glass tank, but so much the better! If you haven't done so already, however, I would recommend getting at least a second battery for backup. Keep us updated!

Hi if you decide to get a second battery I really love the joyetech ego c twist, or the vision spinner. I have both and they are variable voltage which means you can change the volts which brings out the flavors of your juices. Some juices taste better at a higher or lower voltage depending on the flavor so variable voltage is a wonderful plus to have. The spinner by vision has a bigger battery than twist so it lasts a bit longer. For me a 100 mah lasts all day with heavy vaping. You can get these for around 26 dollars for the battery only from My vapor store online. MVS has fast shipping and genuine products. The joyetech chargers are 6 dollars there. So for a total of about 32 dollars you can get a good variable voltage genuine eco twist or vision spinner. I lean towards the spinner a bit more because battery capacity is larger. You won't regret getting a variable voltage battery. It really makes a difference in the taste of the juice. You can go from 3.2 to 4.8 volts and anything in between to find that sweet spot to bring out the flavors in your juices. Take a look online and see what you think. Hope this helps.best wishes

I'm back!!!! Loving the Evod 2, definitely much better than my V2, although I enjoyed that setup so I can't put it down because it helped me to get to where I am today, along with the help of you guys here. I ordered some juices from Ahlusion and am waiting for the order. I have never ordered gourmet ejuices before and usually go Mt. Baker Vapor. I have a few questions though.....

  • First, they suggested that I order 50/50 VG-PG ratio because the wicks in my Evod 2 would be clogged by their juices. With that said, which types of pipes are better when you would like to smoke higher VG levels???
  • Second question, I read that they still make carts for these Evod/EGo type setups so why would someone prefer a cart over a clear or tank, which to me seems like the better option. The carts get burned out and have to be disposed and second, the cotton inside could burn rendering them garbage...

Not all vg is created equal. Virgin vapor is remarkably thin as well as a couple other companies. Some use water to thin them a bit. Ask around. I don't need to usr a blend with the vg I buy. Works great with no gunk.

Thanks, I guess Ahlusion could customize those things perhaps, but if this is the case, I guess e-cig users must own several different setups to enjoy the large variety of ejuices available I guess if customizing blends is not possible...

Many sites let you customize your flavors either in a note or using the ordering system. Go to ecblends and check out their options when you select a juice. Amazing variety and customization options.

Congratulations on your new setup! To your questions:

1) I prefer higher VG for my liquids. I have several varieties of tanks (Evod 1, MT3S, Evod Glass, Mini Protank3, Aerotank) and I have never had any real issue using 100% VG in any of them. With top coil tanks, wicking is a problem because the liquid has to fight gravity, but your Evod 2's are bottom coil, so the only difference you may notice is a slightly harder draw. You should, however, clean your coils when you refill your tank, as thinker liquids do like to gunk the wicks up--but running them for 30 seconds under hot water is not going to kill you. Bear in mind that after a week or two, even cleaning will no longer keep your atomizer running well. You will either need to buy new ones (you can find 5-packs for $6-8 online) or try your hand at re-wicking or re-building your coil.

2) I have never used a cartomizer on the ego setup, but I have heard people raving about cartotanks. IBTanks appears to be one of the front-runners in this regard.

This is great information. The guys over at Ahlusion suggested a 50/50 mix because they felt their 100% VG would instantly destroy my coils. I guess I could have taken the risk but since they suggested it, I followed their opinion. Can't wait to get that stuff from Ahlusion, never have tasted gourmet ejuices and want to see if there is a noticeable difference between it an Mt. Baker Vapor's products which I find to be very good overall. I do miss V2's Sahara though and was thinking of ordering a bottle even though the price is outrageous...

Good wow! I'm just considering buying one but realize I'll need to learn the language first. I'll keep reading.

Welcome to ECF, Anehla! As you have no doubt already discovered, there is a trove of knowledge on this forum--and some of it even leaks through in the posts! :) You won't find a better bunch of helpful people. If you have any questions (no matter how dumb you may think they are--we were all newbies at one time), ask away and I'm sure you'll get some good advice.
