My SmokTech and Kalamazoo eGo batteries are getting old so i'm looking for replacements. The Kalamazoo ones are so cool (with the ends that light up), but they also seem to be the least durable and both of those now just turn on randomly and won't shut off, so i don't use them at all anymore. Naturally, i'm also a bit paranoid about safety. Any suggestions for a solid, durable battery i won't have to stick paperclips into all the time (to pull up the center post), that's well-made and hopefully not any more likely to explode than average? Thanks for any brand/supplier suggestions, and sorry if i've managed to overlook any similar recent posts!

The true joye eGo-c and eGo-c 'upgrade' batts (there's a PT 'upgrade' as well) have the best shorting and charging protection yet. See my post here:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...battery-issues-no-explosions.html#post6347193

The eGo-c is regulated to 3.3-3.4v. The eGo-c 'upgrade' has two modes - the regulated mode like the regular c and a higher voltage mode that runs the same curve as a 3.7v batt - where you will get more volts off the charger. And there's the eGo-c Twist which is a vv batt that runs from 3.2 to 4.8v where you can dial in the voltage you want. All have the upgraded protection and the 5 click shut off.

.... I've never had to 'pick' the center post on any true joye batt. However there are some carto centerposts that come up short, but it's the carto not the batt. I know cignot, heaven gifts and liberty flights have joyetech eGos. There may be others but make sure the wording on the blurbs - 'fits the Joye eGo' might not be Joye.

So i ended up ordering three big eGo batteries from Cignot, and they accidentally shipped me Twists! Naturally, i told them about it - they certainly deserve to know, because it's their merch, and it's their inventory, their profit that would have suffered, and i can't have that. That'd be like walking out of a store having been handed too much change. Vicki split the difference with me! Needless to say, the Twists are almost as amazing as Cignot themselves are!

These are exactly like the ones i got from Kalamazoo Vapor Shop. I loved mine! But when they broke down, they really broke down. I kept having to pry the center contact up, and they'd stick on all the time.

My last one has been sitting outside (far away from my explosion-sensitive face - i know, i'm paranoid) for a couple of months and the light only just finally died out a week ago. It was creepy.

TM... that's great. One thing about having the Twists is that reduces the number of different ohm attys/cartos that you'll need :) Another, perhaps more important thing, at least imo, is that you can find the right wattage for the flavor you're vaping a bit more easily. An ejuice that is 'just ok' at 6 Watts can be great! at 9 Watts and visa versa - don't discount any flavors until you've checked them at various wattages.... this way you save $ on attys/cartos and ejuice. :thumb:

One caution - If you have a lr atty or carto, say below 2.0Ω, keep that twist below 4.2V. I've burned a few going higher..

I would stay clear of the Kgo. I ordered the kit with two batts in it. Within a month, the first one locked in the on position and almost had a melt down. The other continued on until tonight. I had it laying on the seat of my car and I started smelling that acidic burning smell. Sure enough it did the same thing and was in a lockdown heading for an explosion or meltdown. I burned the hell out of my fingers trying to get it loose from the atty cone. Bad news. Stay with genuine Joye products.

Holy crap! Mine didn't asplode but i was sure afraid they would. I actually called KVS and someone there said he had one on his desk stuck on for days with no problem. Clearly this is a very common thing with those. A shame, because i loved the colored lights and the flashlight function - what a great idea.

Those Fireflys from Liberty Flights look like the exact same battery. At a guess i'd say they probably are.
