eGo Electronic Cigarette CE4 Mini Starter Kit - Quality ecigs from Aqua Vapor Cig Atlanta, Ga and North Carolina Here is a good starter kit and you can add extra battery to it and save 10% with code switch :) Its bigger than 510 cig style but works much better and after a little getting use to the satisfaction and battery life from this setup will be much better than a small cig style device.

That one only has one battery though. Here's something similar (and Crystal Clear has free shipping):

If you are a 2-3 PAD smoker, I would start with an eGo-C battery with clearomizer kit. I only recommend this because you smoke a lot and the small cig-looking ones will die and you will juggle batteries left and right. A full clearomizer tank at 24mg/ml nicotine in your juice will be roughly 1.5 packs of 100 length cigs. If you can do a YouTube search for "joyetech 510 vs ego". You should find some good information, and the visual will help you. If you have a local vape shop go see if you can sample some stuff

I am trying to find a kit with a good pricem problem is it seems the battery comes in different strengths, 650, 900 and 1000. Which do I need?

650, 900 and 1000 refer to the "mAh" of the battery, which is the length of time the battery can be used before it needs to be charged again. 100mAh is roughly equal to one hour of use. The higher the number, the longer the battery will last.

Those are knockoff/ clone Vivi Novas- lottsa people having issues with them.

I think you know I'm a name brand snob ;), but I was trying to match the price of the kit recommended before it. I didn't realize people were having problems with the ones from CC.

In one of the new user faqs I read that the 510 is recommended due to the manual battery. Is 510 a style or a specific model? I am currently looking at 2 kits here:

510 ONE Electronic Cigarette Starter Kits from Aqua Vapor Cig

The $49.95 one and the $59.95 kit. Is this the 510 like the faq refers to or does the recommended 510 have a certain maker that is recommended?

again my apologies for hopping around to different kits, I just need to make my first purchase a wise and economical one.

thank you again,

betty

Now that you have 5 posts, you might want to introduced yourself on the Florida Vapors Club sub-forum. Sometimes it's easier to understand when you can see something in person and they would likely know if there are any vape shops in your area:

Thank you for the link, I wandered in and introduced myself :)

It kind of confusing. "510" can refer to two different things: a "510" battery, which is small and cigarette shaped:

and "510" threading, which is the size of the threads on the device to screw things into:

Okay, let's break it down.

If you want something exactly the size of a king-sized cigarette, then your only options are the Njoy King (disposable) and the Colibri Nano/Micro (rechargeable). The Colibri is a 90 mAh battery. this device is 7.2 mm in diameter.

The l88b, aka Blu, Volcano or Jet (in the States). These batteries are the same capacity as the Colibri, but they are 8.5 mm rather than 7.2 mm.

Somewhere in here falls the eRoll/eMini. The batteries are 90 mAh but I'm unsure of the diameter. This is the only proprietary device in this class.

Next comes the j108. Same diameter as the Blu et al, but when assembled these are the same size as a 100-sized cigarette. The older models are incompatible with other 510 equipment, unlike the Blu and others mentioned. The Sidesho by Modern Vapor is the only newer model j108 device I know of and is compatible with other 510 devices. These batteries are available in automatic and manual.

Next up is the Joye 306. 8.6 mm batteries, 180 mAh capacity. And yes, there is a pronounced difference between 8.5 and 8.6 mm. Many drippers love the 306 atomizer.

Next is the 510 and 808/901 devices. These are 9.2 mm or 9.4 mm, I forget which. 510 and 808/901 simply refer to thread type; 808 and 901 share the same thread type but are incompatible in automatics. The l88b, j108, 306 and 510 all share the same thread type and are fully compatible. These batteries are available in 180 and 280 mAh, in both auto and manual. Unlike the other sizes mentioned, there are a number of clearomizers available: the CE2, CE3 and the Nano.

Next is the M1/M3 by Kanger. Mainly available in 808 devices, but a 510 model is also available. The M1 is 480 mAh and the M3 is 380 mAh. There is one carto and one clearo designed to fit this battery seamlessly.

Up next is the eGo and the vGo. These are larger devices, usually between 14 and 16 mm. The eGo has an inner set of 510 compatible threads while the vGo has an inner set of 808/901 compatible threads. These are available as 650, 950, 1000, 1100, 1200 and 1300 mAh devices and sometimes with variable voltage. These are usually available only in manual mode, although some are also available in automatic. The Echo mentioned in my signature is an automatic 14 mm 808-threaded device, but it does not have the exterior threads of a typical eGo or vGo. If it helps, these are about the size of a cigar.

After the eGo comes a large number of mods. These devices can come in a wide variety of sizes an shapes. Only one is available as an automatic; the vast majority of these are manual only. The most important thing that separates these from other devices is the fact that they use replaceable batteries similar to other battery operated devices and are generally more cost effective in the long run compared to other models. I honestly don't know enough about the various devices to explain the differences between them.

Really, at this point it comes down to choosing a device and purchasing it. Will you waste a bit of money? Possibly. I know I have over the past 6 months. I also know I immediately went from 2 packs a day to roughly 2 packs a month and I seem to have finally kicked cigarettes for good. The $50.00 or so I wasted every month trying different things would have bought me enough cigarettes to last 2.5 days, so I don't lose any sleep over it. So pick a kit and try it out.

We'll still be here if you need help. :)

Thank you for the link. What do you think of this kit as far as what comes in it and the price?

Joye 510 MEGA Deluxe Starter Kit by Joyetech - Vapor Cig

they also have a tank starter kit for the same price but I'm not sure what the difference in the regular and tank system is. Plus it mentions "spiked atomizers" which is the first time I have seen the term,

Ok today is the day I am going to buy a kit. I just need feedback on the two I posted above as far as which seems to be the best and my questions about the tank one.

Any feedback, opinions and information greatly appreciated by this first timer :)

thank you,

They're both essentially the same. The atomizer and cart system is the original e-cigarette system, and is outdated for a good reason. The atomizer will work fine, but the cartridges just don't. I haven't heard of a single person who enjoys that system. The tank and atomizer is an upgrade of that system and works oh so much better. The atomizer has a spike above the coil which pierces the tank and wicks the fluid down onto the coil. Some people like them, and they do work.

Regardless of which system you get, remember that both are 510 connections so any 510-threaded device will work fine. You may want to get some cartomizers or maybe some CE3's to try out as well.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for the reply and information Johnnie :)

I just hope I am making the right decision by getting a 510 system. I have had mixed opinions in replies to some other posts I've made. The main alternates to the 510 that has been recommended is an ego system or the Volt (which I have not looked at yet).

Do you think one of those other systems are better than a 510? Basically since my goal is to wean off of regular cigarettes I chose the 510 due to its resemblance to a cigarette to help replace the feel of a real cigarette. Plus some have recommended it because I smoke 2-3 packs a day of menthol 100's. I also need to go back and search all the replies for the nicotine level I need to order as I can't remember what was suggested <CRS is an awful thing  >

again, thank you for the information,
betty
