Hello guys. Kind of a noob when it comes to vaping. I started a couple years ago with a Sigelei telescopic ZMax and after a few months, I stopped enjoying it and got rid of it. Now thinking back it was probably because of the cheap tank I had and I never changed the coils.
I recently got back into it as I wanted to quit smoking cigarettes because it seemed like every week the price of a pack kept going up and I was tired of being cold. So I went out and got the Dovpo E-Mech with an Aspire Altantis which is doing good, love it. The problem is my coworker has been talking about different mods and RDAs so we started watching videos on youtube, a lot of RIP Tripper.
My friend went and got himself a Sigelei 150 with the Mutation x v3 RDA. I really like the Mutation x v3 but I'm on the fence on which mod I really want to go to. A good part of me wants to get the Sigelei but I keep looking at the Ragnarok full copper from VLC. For some reason I really like the look of the copper mods. Another reason I have been looking into getting a mechanical is currently, I have no plans on building below .1 ohms but in the future I might.
I actually have two questions, the first is if I do get the Ragnarok, would my Altantis work on it? I ask because I tried it on a Mutation x mod and it wouldnt work. Then my main question is should I just take the plunge and get the mechanical mod or go with the Sigelei? I'm really enjoying vaping more now than I did before and cant wait to start building my own coils.
Thanks guys!

Welcome! And watch out, if Kasich gets his way, both smoking and vaping will become more expensive. Make of that information what you will :)

But if you're planning on getting into rebuilding, I'd get a regulated device. It can be tough to get coils that work well on a mech, and a regulated device just streamlines the learning process.

Unless you get into multiple-battery mechanical mods, there's no way you can safely generate 150 watts of power with a mech using any batteries that exist, I think the Sig 150 is your best bet :)

A 0.1 ohm build on a mechanical mod could theoretically draw up to 42 amps of current. There is not a single battery in existence, that I'm aware of, that could safely deliver that much power.

I thought I have seen some people building below that. Thanks for the heads up.

So the benefits would be best to go with the regulated mod? Do that until I get build downs right then use a mechanical?

Thanks

A regulated mod would be safer if you are new to rebuilding.

My advise to a new builder would be SAFETY FIRST. Do as much reading, research, as possible, get the tools you need such as a meter, ect...but understand what the coil you build is doing, how much current it draws, ohms, what materials to use. But most of all just be carefull, unregulated devices are just that, no warning messages, no heat monitors, no safety shut downs, so if a mistake is made it can be very dangerous. I use a cloupor t6, and a DNA 40D for my sub ohm'ing and they work very well. I also have several mechs as well but you have to be very carful with what you build, and use on mechs cuz there aren't any do overs.

IMO i would get a regulated box mod. I have an iPV3 150w running Aspire Atlantis tank but also use RDA Little Boy on the same box mod. For me it's easier to swap my tank out & I always know how much battery I have, watts, ohms, & voltage Im vaping at all times.
Good Luck and let us know how you make out & what you chose.:vapor:

A sigelei 100w plus mod would be an awesome regulated mod and comes in under $100. You can pretty much do anything you want with it.

Copper mods look nice but if you drop them, they're soft and deform easily. Also, if you buy a copper mod, you better like polishing because you'll be cleaning that thing twice a week. I wouldn't use one as my daily carryy.

1: If you are happy now with the dovpo and atlantis I'd say stick with that. The most important thing right now it to stay off the cigs.

2: If you listen to your co-worker too much I think your wallet is going to get thinner and thinner.

3: Never heard of a ragnarok, but Sigelei has a good reputation.

4: Best to stick with regulated mods, although a mech is good for backup and is the cheapest way to vape, just as a motorbike is cheaper than a car, but one small nick could leave you splattered all over the road.

Would your Atlantis work on a mech: yes.
Should you get the mechanical or go with the Sigelei: Sigelei.

As far as building below 0.1 ohms there's no need for it. Better to use a new high powered regulated mod with multiple batteries than to try to squeeze more power out of 1 battery by using lower ohms.

Hi All,

Thank you all for all the advise. Meant to post earlier but my work has this site blocked which is lame.

Baditude:

I appreciate the post, I have read the similar post and have researched everything. Believe I got a decent standing on what to do, just need to work on making coils, ensuring they are good.

I believe I will go the route of the Sigelei 150 for now with the mechanical being a possible future. I know I side I wanted to go the route of the Mutation x v3 RDA. My coworker got his and he likes it but I was wondering what might be another option that is around the same price point plus might be able to vape longer?

Thanks again guys

Hello, I bought the Sigelei 100w and a Kangertech subtank almost 2 weeks ago. This has put my vamo v5 and Tobecco Kayfun clone in the junk drawer. This has worked flawlessly with only one exception, the center pin on the Sigelei needed adjusted, after that this device has been awesome.
I am currently coiled at 1.2 with 28 gage and producing huge clouds, by far more than any cigarette ever put out for me. The flavor is much better than the clone with the subtank and with the 4.2m of juice I am set well for a full day at work.
I have been cig free since 9/20/2013 and if I would have had this setup from day one the journey would have been far less stressful. I have yet to build a sub ohm but really with this setup I feel no need.
Don't take this as a sales pitch, 1 I am just trying to reach my 5 post needed to post elsewhere and 2 everyone has different needs and desires. Good luck.
