No my Ego kit didnt come yet:(

I am a little freaked out by the FDA crap going on. My kit came with 2 complete Ego ( ordered from cignot). I also ordered 5 empty carts, a drip tip and some juice from FSUSA.

- What spare parts should I have on hand?
- if I am filling my empty carts how many should I have on hand?
- is it worth trying the cartomizers or will I spend a lot of $$?
- where can I find the cheapest spare parts for my Ego?

If I need to have spare batteries, atomizers or anything else I want to order them now.

Hi Harmony, welcome to ECF! I would suggest some extra atomizers for now. If you'd like to try cartomizers, I'd get a few of those, too. After you've been vaping for a while you'll figure out which way you prefer to vape. and will know what to stock up on. If you're filling carts, you can fill them as needed or fill a few in advance, that's up to you.

Cheapest spare parts? The cheapest place for spares will be from one of the Chinese suppliers like Health Cabin or Heaven Gifts. I've ordered from Heaven Gifts quite a few times and have never had a problem receiving my items. I don't recommend buying juice from them as I've heard reports of that slowing down customs, but buying hardware hasn't been a problem. The shipping from Heaven Gifts is $15. so to make it cost effective, you'll want to order quite a few things. If you only want a couple of atomizers and a few cartomizers, ordering from China is probably not the way to go.

Hi harmony, I just love the mega cartomizers for the Ego. They hold 1.8 mL of juice and deliver lots of flavor and vapor. I'm very busy at work so they really make my life easier. I have been using two of them for a week, each dedicated to a different flavor. I have refilled them each about 8 times and they are still working. For my needs the mega cartomizers are well worth their price and I plan to order more.

Oh, I forgot, you need a syringe to fill them. You can get them online, in feed stores and in some pharmacies. You need something with a 18 gauge or lower needle ( the bigger the number the smaller the needle). Some one may chime in with other solutions to this or specific places to purchase.

Thank you for the replies. I have to say, this has been the most confusing part of getting started. When you search for parts there are so many suppliers and different names.
Maybe I should wait until my unit gets here and get familiar with the parts before I try and order more.
Can someone tell me what parts can be used for the Ego and the 510?

An eGo is a 510, it's just a bigger battery, but it's still a 510. I think that's always confusing to new users. Anything listed as being a 510 will be compatible with the eGos. There are 510 atomizers, 510 cartridges, 510 cartomizers, and mega 510 atomizers and cartridges. The thing that isn't compatible between the two is the 510 chargers. You'll need an eGo specific charger.

How many atomizers come with your kit? That's the one thing that can go out and you must have if you're using cartridges. Cartridges can be cleaned and reused many, many times. Batteries can be charged and reused many times. Atomizers can be cleaned, but they can completely die, and will need to be replaced.

Hi harmony, welcome to ECF. Spare parts are a necessity, at least 1 or 2 extra atomizers if you're using cartridges, or an extra box of cartomizers if that's what you prefer. If you want to try carto's just get a box of the 510 carto's to try, they're about 5 for $8. You can keep them around in case your atomizers die if you don't like them on a regular basis. If you're into the atty/cart setup, keep a couple of boxes of cart's around, they're cheap at 5 for $3. You only get a day or 2 out of a cartridge so you either have to replace it or put new filler in them when they don't vape good anymore. Keep at least a few bottles of juice on hand too, there's nothing worse than running out and having to wait a few days for more. Spare stuff is all about not having to go back to analogs because that's what most of us would do if we lost our vape for any reason.

One of the best things about the eGo is that you have lots of options. One of the worst things about the eGo is that you have lots of options.

I always keep a box of 510 blank cartomizers around the house. I prefer to use atomizers, but when I had two atomizers burn out at the same time, I would have been in real trouble if someone hadn't told me to get a few cartos and toss them in a drawer for emergencies. I was glad I did.

The good thing is that anything that you order that says "510" on it, you will be able to use. No one can really predict the set up you are going to like the best, you will find your favorites over the next month or two. Don't buy a large quantity of anything until you establish your preferences. Same for juice.

You really don't need to buy anything else right now to enjoy your eGo. After you use it for a few days you will have a better idea if you want to try cartos or mega carts.

For my money, when the ban/restrictions/taxes hit, I want to be in the most generic position possible. To me this means: DIY juices, some kind of mod PV, (off the rack or build your own), that uses batteries that are used for other things besides PV's, and a crate of the most common atties. I'm a pullin for the ceramic cartos to be refined to the point that they work well. Then I'll get a boatload of um. Pretty much bullet proof then. Really, the atty is the Achilles Heel as I see it. I love my eGo class batts, but they're very expensive and far too specialized to be depending on them in a restricted climate. JMHO
Cheers,

+1 on the extra atomizers. Your Ego kit will come with only the 2. I burnt one up on the 3rd day. Totally my fault, but I won't go into that. I was walking on eggs for 4 days waiting for the new ones to arrive. Cignot has them for 3 for $25.00. Maybe not the cheapest, but they are made by Joye.

Get a box of blank carts there too. They are reusable and will last a good while if you align them properly in the atty each time. The original filler in the carts needs to be replaced pretty often, in my experience. I switched to the blue foam and get much better results. Marineland, rite size-U, @Petsmart, $8.00. thats enough foam for....well anyway its a whole bunch.

Those pre-filled carts that come with the kit, hmmm, how can I say this...Meh! I would just pull the filler out and rinse them out with warm water, pat em dry with a paper towel, let them sit and air dry a couple hours, replace and refill with something else. Well, try a few drags off one first, you may be able to stand em.

Ok, I just reread your OP. You are good to go on spare carts and juice. I wouldn't worry about pre-filling empty carts to have on hand. Not at first anyway. You are going to want to experiment with the different flavors of liquid til you find the one(s) you really like.

As far as the cartomizers, I haven't tried them. Seems like a lot of trouble filling/refilling them. I mean with the needle syringe and all. They are relatively cheap tho, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to try a few.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that your Ego arrives tomorrow. I went thru the same thing, the anxious wait for the mail to arrive and then (sigh), nothing but bills and pamphlets today.

Good luck. It seems to me that you all set. Just get those spare attys on order.....today. Or, if you have the dough, just order another complete kit. Viol'a. Spare attys, spare batts, spare carts, all in one. And a spare charger to boot. Btw, if you need a USB car charger, FSUSA has one for $8.00. Just throw one in with your next juice order from them. Flat rate shipping and all ya know.

I'd go with a few extra Ego Mega Atomizers (aka Godzilla Atomizer) and cartridges as opposed to the MegaCartomizers themselves. With the MegaCartomzers, make sure you use them properly; people have had problems with mold.

If you really want to have hardware available should shipments cease, make a box mod....easy to do, CHEAP, and you can run them on standard rechargable batteries or make one that runs on a standard rechargable lithium. Store a big box of standard atomizers and you're good to go for a long time.

Good decision on the atty's, I like LR's 'cause they seem to make more vapor. When I use cart's I usually go through a pack a week if I just toss 'em when they quit working good. I've gotten into the habit of replacing the filler now though so I don't really open new ones very often. Whenever I order anything I just put in a few things on my order, a bottle of juice, extra atty, cart's, carto's, whatever. It doesn't cost any extra on the shipping so why not.

Re tossing the carts when they quit working.......don't toss anything. The carts can be refilled and reused many, many times. Even if you don't want to take the time to clean them and refill them right now........just stick them in a junk box/drawer and save them. Who knows when you'll need/want them. That's my advice. I don't throw anything (e-cig related) away. They are so easy to reuse that it just seems like a big waste to toss them.
