Yeah the security on that thing... . I have like 4 anti virus softwares and I'm sure it's still terrible.

I've had Linux interfaces before that really weren't too bad. Trust me though, if something can be stolen from my computer it probably will be.

I do actually need a new computer, my screen died recently. It was cheaper to buy an external monitor and so I did that, but it's sort of a giant PITA.

I plan to get one of those super cheap computers, but I'm hoping the computer itself doesn't die before I get all my stuff off it (due to its OS, the husband kind of refuses to attach it to the network so nothing gets backed up. Although I don't really blame him, honestly, I'm the kind of person who will click on "penis pump" emails just because of CURIOSITY.

At some point the husband had this really long discussion with me about secure vs. non secure websites, but I was daydreaming about penis pumps the entire time, frankly.....

My work does it better they do all this security training with goofy little cartoons and stuff.

Did you know a gif. was the only secure attachment? I so totally did not. I THINK it's a .gif anyway... I said they did BETTER not PERFECT I mean.... I now know SOME attachments are not secure.

I also have a semi-reasonable concept of what phishing is and how it is way more exciting (potentially) than ACTUAL fishing , you know, that type of stuff. LOL.

Wow. That’s... really hard to secure. Maybe security through obscurity? If all you need is net access anyway, maybe weird hardware is all you can hope for. Maybe some arduino knockoff running some BSD release or something equally bizarre? It’s cheap and hacking software would take one look at your machine and throw up in its mouth.

I think that like, this is one of those subjects where like, I prefer to be uneducated enough to be fearless.

Because let's face it, my computer is so, ahem, FEARLESS, that hackers probably think there is some blowback reverse-engineered like, THING where if they hack it, it will destroy their OWN systems, it's like a Trojan Horse.

That, plus I can't even GIVE my identity away, it's a poor choice for theft.

I have no medical devices although I guess someone coulda put a tracking device in one of my denture implants.

I see no reason for anyone to track me, I pretty much ANNOUNCE myself wherever I am.

If I think about this stuff too much, well, I'll wind up in a tin foil hat, and that's no fun.

@stols001 – I hope I’m reading this incorrectly cause gif are not secure – in fact any malicious code can be written in to any file.

Also, should this be the case, it is not advisable to run 4 antivirus applications at the same time. Not only is it a resource hog, but they can react to each other causing much grief. A virus definition from one virus software can send another into frenzy for lack of better words.

Totally off topic, but hardware firewall. And all that does is just but you time. So no networking, no problems.

But any computer on a network, no matter how secure can be accessed.

Best things nowadays are medical implants, they can be hacked with a black phone easily.

Can be? Of course. Possibly even easier than a more popular configuration. That’s an attack though. Malware is designed to automatically infect a known system type, generally using a specific exploit path or series of the same. Those exploit paths have to be researched and written though. MocOS was safe from exploits for years but not because it didn’t have holes. It had huge holes. No one bothered to go looking for them though.

Security through obscurity is not good security, and it’s not immune to social engineering. A Nigerian prince will still get rich as long as you choose to send him money. It’s only good for lowball automatic mass attack stuff.

AFAIK 7pro no longer gets security updates. It’s security compromised. I use 8.1. I’ve been avoiding 10 for years. When 8.1 finally dies I’ll either install Linux or go hackintosh.
IMHO Windows 10 is a license to steal in perpetuity.

IIRC there was some other stuff involved too though. Possibly security software issues.
Windows 7 is supported with security updates until January 14, 2020.
Hopefully they get the bugs out of 10 by then. (doubtful)

With the advice of a 3 batt mod, what are your thoughts on the Wismec Reuleaux RX2/3 200W Mod or the WismecReuleaux RX Gen3?

I’ve got a 2/3. It’s decent. Not great, but ok. Better than a SMOK anyway. It’s a fairly old design. It’s got a 25mm atty deck for one thing which is unnecessarily small for a mod of its size. It’s electronics are functional but not standout. The finish is standard for 99% of painted mods. It peeled. The whole releaux series has a 510 connector which is known for being shallow which causes problems with some attys. Its not a standout in anything, except occasionally price. it’s functional and if you see one on sale it may be worth picking up. It’s why I have the one I got. The 2/3 thing is sort of handy sometimes. I guess. There used to be several devices with that format but not so much anymore. I never used in in “3” mode at all.

One bonus for you might be that it’s old enough and sold enough units for silicone cases to have been made which could help with the dropping if not the peeling. It will also hold a slightly larger atty if you put a case on it to suck up the overhang. You need a separate one for each configuration though.

Security support for older OS’s should be questioned. It cost a company a great deal to support older software which will be difficult for them to recoup any losses. And there is the possibility a security bug is so big, the company may not even put forth efforts to correct it and just dump support all together. And keep in mind priorities always shift toward their latest releases.

Win 7 is way past its mature date. Vulnerabilities are still being found and will be exploited if given the chance.

I had a Wisemic RX200 that I used for almost a year. 510 connection notoriously bad from ECF posts, and that is what done in my RX200. Paint finish also didn't last long. I used a silicone sleeve on mine, but it had to be removed to change batteries. PITA.

Aegis Legend is probably a good choice, IMHO.

I'll suggest a couple pair of LG HG2 20amp 3000mah batteries if you plan to vape at 100 watts with it. You'll need upwards of two 20 amp batteries (60 watts each), and be able to take advantage of the 3000 mah batteries for longer run time between charges.

Are you using a single, dual, or triple battery mod? In the interests of keeping things simple:

-If you use a good quality 15 amp CDR battery like the Samsung 30Q or Sony VTC6, then you are good up to 45 watts per battery; 90 watts using two; 135 watts for three batteries.

-If you use a good quality 20 amp CDR battery like the LG HG2 or Samsung 25R then you are good for 60 watts per battery. If using a 2-battery regulated mod, you're good for 120 watts as you have two batteries. If you are using a 3-battery mod, you're good for 180.

-If you use a single 25 amp CDR battery like the Sony VTC5A, then you are good for 75 watts per battery, 150 watts for two batteries, and 225 watts with three.

-If you use a single 30 amp CDR battery like the LG HB6 you are good up to 90 watts; with a pair of 30 amp CDR batteries you could safely do 180 watts.

Well I ended up going with the Aegis Legend mod in color shift green, as that is what the local vape some had. Feels pretty nice, plus it's nice and light for a dual battery mod.

Keep the receipt. The legend is a good mod but you vape right at the very top of wattage ranges, and I haven’t been able to confirm or deny the Legend TC issue. It’s not a problem for me or most people because Its uncommon to vape at the wattages you do. In any event you’ll need to check the firmware version
With the batteries in 5-click off the mod then hold the plus(?) button down and the firmware version should appear on the screen. It should read 1.2.
If it doesn’t you’ll need to do the update.

Just checked the firmware, it's version 1.1 so I'll need to update it. But that will have to wait for a few days, as I don't have any computer access atm. All my stuff is in storage on the other side of Texas right now. Should be able to get it in a few days though.

You might be able to make the vape shop you bought it from do the update. Dunno if they will but asking is free. Especially if you told them you were running those high wattages when you bought it, and that you wanted to do TC.

What I want is something equivalent to the G-Priv 2 it better that can handle the higher wattage without blinking. Plus I want the ability to do TC as I'm planning on messing around with that soon. It needs to be something that's not as fragile as the G-Priv 2 has turned out to be. All recommendations are welcome.[/QUOTE]

I'm a newbie, 5 months only, but I am using a Smok Species and really love the Species touch screen and easy to use menu, very fast. You know how the mod broke....could maybe happen with any mod? I also use a Topside Dual, Pulse Dual, X-Priv and prefer the Pulse and Species over the rest....really hate those little buttons.
