My first RTA was the Vaporesso Gemini. Very easy to build on and haven't had a single problem with any of the three I use now. There's also the GeekVape Griffin (22mm version). It is very similar to the Gemini. I have the 25mm version and it's currently my favorite RTA.
Thank you for your reply. I was looking at the Griffin, does it have good flavour and vapour production ? Is it also easy to build on ?

Well, the flavor and vapor is enough to keep me satisfied. And yes, it has a spacious velocity style deck. And if the 22mm version is like the 25, it will come with a rubber plug, so you can choose single coil or double coil builds.
Ok great, it sounds like it will be a good start up. Thank you for your input. Also if you dont mind answering, would you recommend buying a kit for building ? or pre made coils ?

I'm partial towards single coil RTAs.
My first RTA was Serpent mini 22m, build deck is small but pretty easy to build on. Flavor and vapor is satisfying enough for me, but wicking, for me at least, needs some time getting used to, too much/too little it'll leak like hell.

and if you dont mind 24mm's, I heard good things about the Merlin Mini, one of the pros: they included both single and dual coil build decks inside the box.

Thanks for the reply, what is the advantages of different mm ? I am only asking for 22mm because my pico has the battery hatch blocking it. Where would be the best place to learn about wicking and such ?

as far as I know, the diameter differences are just design or variation.
and iirc, Pico can only take 22mm tanks max, maybe 23mm with a bit of overhang, im not sure :/
I have a pico and it is a good match for the serpent mini.
for wicking, I usually go to Youtube and see bunch of videos of how people wick on a specific tanks (e.g Serpent mini build). Also you can always ask here, 'tis a friendly place lol.

EDIT: here's how pico+serpent mini combo looks

Okay great thank you. Yes I am pretty new to vaping and forums to be honest lol. I have been doing my research I am a tad nervous to start building but I updated my self on ohms law and have watched videos and such. would you recommend anything else before building ? I was thinking a tool kit so I have a good base of tools and of course ohms meter.

well everybody's gotta start somewhere :D
I do my ohm readings in my mod, as long as the numbers are not too far off from steam-engine website, i'm sure im good. Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators
for starters, all you need are pretty much just wire cutters (or nail clippers if for some reason you dont have an access to one), pair of scissors, coiler/coil jig, and wicks (I recommend Cotton Bacon v2). But getting a set of DIY toolkit is an easy and practical way too make sure you have everything covered though.

Okay great! I am excited for my first build! The serpent looks like a pretty good RTA. Hopefully my local vape shop has it or I will have to order it online.

I have a Wotofo Sapor Mini on one of my Picos and an Obs Engine Mini on the other (I've blocked the second coil liquid holes on both and use single coils). The Engine Mini is 23 mm but fits on the Pico. Easy to build and wick and top airflow so no leaking.

Both of those are solid choices, especially the Engine mini given its high leak resistance, which is a real joy when you're first starting to build (I got to learn the hard way with leaking juice because I had no idea how to wick properly). Others can include a Goblin mini v3 which has different decks, and the Ammit. Both are probably not quite as flavorful as say the Serpent mini, but still good performers.

My advice when starting out is go with an easy to build and wick tank. With the confidence gained you can move on to all sorts of other tank designs, but I wouldn't start tackling fiddly builds from the start.

The Sapor is pretty much equal to the Engine in the leak-proof area. Possibly a tiny bit better as it has juice flow control. But I do prefer the Engine.
