Ive always mixed different flavors together but I think it's time to start fresh and get this flavor recreated by hand. I have searched and bought countless Mt. Dews only to find that none taste like the original that got discontinued. So I'm buying Lorann's flavorings and wanted some advice on some other essential flavors to pick up.

Mountain Dew Flavors:
Lemon
Lime
Orange
?????

I will also pick up this for myself:
Anise oil
Clove
:p

Yes orange juice, mountain dew has orange juice in it. Am I missing some flavor for mountain dew? Something from Lorann's that I could also experiment with? Or some essential oil just to have that may come in handy?

I haven't worked for Pepsi Co. so I can't speak to Mt. Dew specifically, but I used to work for a beverage company that produced the Sam's Choice (Wal-Mart generic) version. It doesn't contain orange juice. In fact, it doesn't contain liquids other than water. The caffeine, the flavoring, the coloring... all of it was powdered chemical. I'd even venture to say that none of those were just concentrated anything. Most of them were flat out chemical (citric acid, malic acid, et cetera) components that made no claim to be derived from any specific source.

I'm not saying you can't replicate it or make a great flavor, but I think trying to build it off of component flavors (lemon and lime) might not get you the results you want. You may also have to compensate in your DIY for things you'd not expect (carbonated beverages produce carbonic acid, which changes flavor).

Here's hoping you find what you're looking for. :)

I was afraid my journey was to be this complicated. I found this copied from wikipedia:

Mountain Dew lists its ingredients as:[citation needed]

* Carbonated water
* Sugar (replaced by High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) in much of the United States)
* Concentrated orange juice
* Citric acid
* Natural flavors
* Sodium benzoate (preserves freshness)
* Caffeine (36 mg per 8 US fluid ounces (240 ml)) (54 mg/355 ml can)[7]
* Sodium citrate
* Erythorbic acid (preserves freshness)
* Gum arabic
* Calcium disodium EDTA (label claims "to protect flavor" however its purpose more accurately stated is to prevent benzene formation by chelating the metal ions present in water that can act as catalysts in the reaction between sodium benzoate and erythorbic acid)[citation needed]
* Brominated vegetable oil
* Tartrazine (Yellow #5)

Now I see these are chemicals but I was assuming that for lamest terms citric acid as lemon/lime and such. Now this ingedient list flat out mentions orage juice concentrate, so even if it is a powder at least I have a known flavor to work with here. Hey can you help me out a bit more? Since your so knownlegable and all.

I have many failed mountian dews that doesn't come close to the flavor I am looking for. I really believe this is from everyone having different taste buds and finding different qualities than the ones that I like. So really even if I did have a base flavor to modify, are my choices of LorAnn's flavors good ones?

This is from OSDIYS and I vape it on a daily bases. I also drink the origonal Mountain dew constantly. You almost will never catch me with out one in my hand and this flavor is to me the exact same taste. They have great flavors and awsome customer service. It is dew drop (Mt)

I was going to risk the fact of having oils in an atty. I would dedicate an atty for this loved flavor. Anyways I am going to buy some dew drops, this will be the last mountain dew flavor I am going to buy and I am putting faith in it because it is a concentrate for mixers and not just another e-juice. (and the price is right haha)

The problem with oils, and all the flavors you list are oils, is that it takes VERY little to flavor a juice, and they do not mix into the PG/VG very well. They also linger in attys/cartos too much...but then you can dedicate an atty to this DIY juice. Unfortunately, you have, I think, chosen a very difficult DIY flavor, and are using very difficult to use ingredients. I would be using a drop or two of the oils per about 30 mL unflavored juice. Or see if you can get water-soluble flavors. Linda at PA might be able to give advise. Good luck!
