Hi everyone,

First time poster here and I don't know if it's the right place to ask for advice but here goes.

I used to be in the vaping scene a few years ago. Tried my hand at a little rebuilding etc and I lost interest after a while.

I'm currently looking to get a nice sub ohm set up that will produce big clouds (I already smoke dokha for the nicotine hit, shisha recreationally so this will just be for the novelty). Although I'm very well versed with ohms law and calculating power etc, I don't want to go through the hassle of building and rebuilding using mechanical mods.

I'm living overseas so I won't have access to a lot of materials so I am hoping for a regulated device which can give me what I need as I won't be back in over a year. Any advice on what to get?

I've seen this nice infinity storm device by socialites, it's 0.5 ohm and 30w. Is that enough? Let me know thanks.

Great, thanks for letting me know about that. What would you recommend instead?

Where are you now and can you buy much where you are going?

I would be tempted to recommend something based on the availability of atomizer heads/coils.
Also, a decent mechanical mod might be more reliable, with the correct sort of tank, of course.

If I was planning for a year....
1. Joyetech Evic mini VTC or similar type of mod.
2. A Hard-wearing mechanical mods...
3. Two tanks + 120 replacement coils ordered from China, most probably.

Depends what you can buy really, ongoing. :)

I live in a small town in the middle east. I could go into the city for materials but they're extremely overpriced.

I'm in the UK now so I have everything available at my finger tips. I'm not sure if I want to start building and dealing with trouble shooting and coiling up etc. I just want to plug and play so to speak.

Worst comes to worst, I'll look I to any recommended mechanical mods. I'll just need some guidance.

Can you have packages mailed to you with vape stuff? If you have a tank that requires factory coils, as djsvapour already pointed out, you'll need access to replacements. There is one more very important item, the juice. Will you have access to that at home, and if not, can you have packages mailed to you as well?

I'm not suggesting rebuilding. I'm suggesting having a mechanical mod as a back up to a regulated variable-power mod. You can plug and play with a mechanical if your mod doesn't make the year-long challenge! :)

The Joyetech Evic mini VTC looks good. I already have 2 cells - although they're about 2 years old now. What tanks would go best with it?

I've tried all my plug and play tanks, some rebuildable tanks and 3 or 4 RDAs (drippers). Everything seems to work as expected. (Not always the case with mixing up manufacturers).
The Cubis tank seems to work well. I think there's a new Cubis Pro tank.
The original was a little in between mouth and lung inhale. The Pro has more options for adjusting things.

Batteries will degrade over time even if not being used, If stored properly they might be okay. Kept at full charge or discharge is hard on batteries in long term storage.

I'll pitch in with my favorite tank: Uwell Crown sub-ohm tank. Choice of coils to use from 0.25 to 0.5 ohm. (If you get an Temp Control regulated mod you can use 0.15 nickel coils.) Excellent air control from a racheted air control ring. Quartz glass tank (includes spare). Easy top fill. Lots of clouds.

Hey baditude, I'm presuming that it will fit the Joyetech device?
It will fit any 510 connector, which is what is found on the vast majority of mods.

The only mods I would not advise using this or any clearomizer tank on would be a direct battery (hybrid, faux-hybrid, hybrid top connector) mod. Direct battery mods or hybrid top cap mods have no center pin in the top. This would include a mechanical mod like the SMPL.

Normal 510 connector on the left (note center pin in the middle). Direct battery (faux hybrid) connector on the right (no center pin in the middle).

If you're just after blowing cloudz in a remote part of a country that isn't vaping friendly then I would suggest getting a device like an Evic VTC Mini or a Releaux RX200 (depending on what feels comfortable to you in your hand - VTC = 1 cell, RX200 = 3 cells), a mech, and maybe a decent suitable tank and a dripper.

I would get a mech and a dripper because they're bomb-proof and can be kept fed and watered with a supply of 18650 cells, some resistance wire and cotton wool, all of which have multiple uses other than vaping.

The choice of tank would depend on which style of vaping you most prefer - MTL or DTL - flavour or cloudz etc.

And don't forget - blowing huge clouds costs in juice, battery life and flavour...

First off.

Tell us how you like to vape.

MTL (Mouth To Lung) of DL (Direct Lung)

Once we know how you like to vape we can recommend mods or atties that meets you need.

If you like clouds bro clouds. You want sub Ohm and a mod capable of 100 or more watts.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes - take as much piss as you see fit! Cloudz bro! Need to let the town know I vape. And so forth.

Anyway, I do direct to lung - like a shisha. Not too keen on mechanical mods but I will look into them again. Id rather be pointed in the direction of a good device and tank. Essentially, the most hassle free way. If there isn't a hassle free way, I've got a few weeks to do proper research on mech mods I suppose!
