need some clarification

My first question is how do I stop getting alerts sent to my email?

Next is something I'm confused about.
I lurked about this place for a bit trying to get the feel of things. I read the rules but since I've experienced being a private to a Sergeant in the service, I know things can vary widely when the man in charge wants them to. No disrespect intended just trying to get the lay of the land.

One of the things that finally got me in here was the big contest and admittedly I'm not ashamed of it since I'm pretty sure that the intended outcome is to draw people to join.
What has me scratching my bald spot is this rule (well one of a few): Spamming for post count (placing meaningless posts) is against the rules.
Now I'm assuming that spamming for post count is posting with pretty much no meaning behind the post other than getting a post in that will count. Right?

So having sent a few guys to KP, I don't want to get sent there myself but on the big contest thread, this seems to be allowed: Posting just to get a post in. I've noticed this on some other threads too. I can only conclude that if the person who opened the thread doesn't hand me a potato peeler, I'm not doomed for KP duty or worse yet getting thrown in the brig or become an outcast.

My apology if you are confused about my confusion.
Clarification from the man in charge would be appreciated.

The "Spamming for post count" rule was more for when we locked new users into the New Members forum in attempt to corral spammers. With the new software, our spam prevention tools are working rather well, so there is no longer a restriction for posting in the New Members forum.

In my experience, those "spamming" rules apply in just about ALL the threads..the one exception..is the Major ECF sponsored contest/giveaways...currently the 600 Cloupor thread

You can spam away to your hearts content there...with no risk of being relegated to KP or policing the area ...or painting everything that doesn't move
IMO ..you can certainly spam non-sense for high post count..or you can post what you feel (NOT spam in my book) ..and mayb even make a meaningful connection with someone... might even win some friends even if you don't win a Cloupor . I have certainly gotten some big laughs out of some of your "redneck" picture posts!
I like thta the current contest has had alot of winners with very low post counts ...so working families and those with only limited computer time had an equal chance to win.
The longer you are here, the easier it gets to realize that there are folks reading and maybe even following what you have to say..even if they don't comment or "like" your post ....Each of us have something to offer in the way of support and morale ....We are vapers one and all ..fighting the daily good fight against the cigarette addiction.
