Need some help and some advice

I started vaping in August, after over 30 years of smoking.

Just loved it, after trial/error ended up with V4L, and was doing okay.

Started to notice that sometimes, and always at home, I would attempt to inhale and immediately...hack, cough, cough, hack...

Then it would go away, and if I left the house I was fine.

I searched here and found a post about people with asthma and allergies, and how it stopped them from vaping.

But I went on, and I would have days where I was fine, and days, again always at home, that I couldn't even vape...just too much coughing.

Then there were incidents with having trouble breathing....not fun...

I have 4 cats, and figured that was the problem...just a situation I never noticed while smoking and aggravated by the esmoking.

I've tried everything - vaporizer, saline wash for the nasal area, different allergy pills, an asthma inhaler, a salt inhaler, a salt lamp.

Still, the hacking, coughing and trouble breathing persist...symptoms I NEVER had while smoking.

Now, this week, everything has gotten worse...even if I leave the house I can't inhale without severe coughing, hacking...my chest hurts from the constant coughing...

Today I decided not to vape at all...my chest is at peace...no coughing or other symptoms.

I then went out an bought a pack of cigarettes...they don't even taste good, but at least nicotine is getting to my brain and I can live (breath..)

Is there any hope for me? I'm so sad about this, I didn't think I would ever be able to quit, thought this was a miracle for me....

Now it seems like it's not going to work at all, and I don't think I'm up to quitting "cold turkey".

Sorry this is so long, and thanks for listening...I'll take any/all advice about solutions...:(

There are just soooo many variables that could come into play here, but it almost sounds that by not vaping you are doing much better. I have been vaping and not had a cigarette in over a year now but I know for a fact that if I used 24mg strength e-juice right now I would probably hack up a lung. As with most, I started out using the 24/26 mg juices, then rapidly weened myself down to between 10 and 12. I purchase all 24mg juice (PG based), then immediately cut it in half with pure VG. This is what works for me. It still gives me enough flavor, nicotine and tons of vapor.

Maybe you might try lowering your mg strength and even better, try at least a 50/50 PG/VG mix.

Well, you can go to your local WalMart and get the HUMCO brand vegetable glycerine (which is USP - Pharmaceutical grade). It would be in the pharmacy section with the hand lotions, and if you can't find it just ask the pharmacist where it is (that's how I found it).

I now get my VG from here. It's a full 16oz size which has willl last me more than a year and with shipping would be about $10.

Well as many other people face problems when they start vaping, your no different i was one of the lucky ones and still i say that you could experement with different juices there so many...Try experement like me even i do not have a problem like yours VG, PG and VG/PG different mixes, different nicotine levers that could bother your lungs and troat. You also could go to a doctor because i heard that people with asma cant vape same as smoke.

I have found the same brand and size at the local Drug Emporium.
I've also found VG at Walgreen's, Hobby Lobby, and other stores that have either a pharmacy isle or a candy making section.
I've found that a higher VG mix works for me so I just order higher concentrations and cut it or make some using DIY.
It may be as simple as you being allergic to either the PG or the VG.
I've read multiple threads on the forum about people who have reactions to both to some degree.

just my :2c:

UPDATE!

Thank you to everyone that replied.

I went to the doctor's office, and he told me I've developed Asthma. He told me I'm the only person he's seen that has developed Asthma after quitting smoking.

I also had a sinus infection.

So, I have some antibiotics and an inhaler and I feel much better. I showed him my V4L, and he did not tell me to stop using it or anything like that.

I feel so much better, I'm able to vape all the time, and there's no coughing or congestion.

What did the Doc say about vaping. Did he give you a green light to continue doing so???
