So, I've got a gorgeous, 10 wrap, 28 gauge kanthal microcoil, wrapped on a luer lock needle. Unfortunately, RTD vapor's site is down for maintenance for me to remember the gauge of the one I use (it's got a purple end if anyone knows).

Anyway, it's 1.25 oHms, end over the hole tiled up a bit, and right up to the edge of the deck.

It pops/crackles and continues to do so after I let up off of the firing pin. The legs aren't hot, and when I dry burn it, it lights up/cools down just as any other coil does for me (ie, doesn't stay red when I release the firing pin). And flavor isn't as intense/good.

Is it the amount of cotton? I had such a smooth vape on the first coil on this particular RM2, and then it just stopped heating like it used too and so I had to change it. And I was SOO proud of this coil too!

I know you guys are going to ask me to take a picture, but stupid camera either washes it out with flash, throws shadows on it, or without flash, you can't see it.

If you insist, I'll try.

Any ideas?

if there is alot of juice on the coil it will sizzle a little after you let off the firing button......this happens to me sometimes as well......when i sqounk the juice up there sometimes the hole gets a air bubble in it and doesn't allow the juice to flow back down......most of the time its because my cotton is too close to the hole and not allowing it to drain properly.....then there will be alot of juice on the wick and coil and will crackle while firing and sizzle for a sec after i get done firing.....

OK, it's a 16 ga luer lock needle.

I re-coiled both of my RM2's last night, and I just looked at the mini's RM2 (the one I'm just not getting flavor and a lot of crackling) and it's not as close to the edge of the deck as I remembered. I re-wicked it, and still crackling, and not happy with it. Gotta run to the store and I'll re-coil it again when I get back.

As an off topic - anyone know where I can get a 1/16 hex head to change out the post in my Dark Zero jig? Lowes doesn't have 'em. I really don't want to order one off of Amazon for under a buck and spend more on freight....

I would suggest using less cotton and see where that gets you.

I'm actually using less cotton than I ever have in previous set ups. I'm nursing the beginning of a headache, and about to lay down for awhile, but plan to try to re-coil it, since it's not as close to the edge as I'd like anyway and I'm not getting the flavor I'm wanting on this juice (which is still the same juice I had yesterday before my previous coil decided to stop heating properly).

Here they have single ones free shipping, or you can get a set.
