I am planning on making a Funky Monkey Clone for my 1st attempt at DIY

Found this on the web on what flavours to use and found some nice e-liquid Calculators
Flavours would be:
  • 16.5% Strawberry Ripe
  • 7% Banana Cream DX
  • 7% Kiwi
  • 2% Sweet Cream
But this is where I get lost I was thinking 50/50 PG/VG. I have nic of both of these. I am not sure what the difference is between PG/VG that much. would love some nice flavour and cloud. anyone able to give me some input on a good PG/VG rate and does it mater what NIC i use in it as in PG or VG?

Liquids i like are (not sure if this will help)
FA-Q - Funky Monkey
FA-Q - Green Party
Lindbergh - New York to Paris
tank smok TFV4 Micro .5 coil

Also i see some websites talking about Water/Vodka/PGA why do they talk about these and should i be useing them?

A mostly VG mix will give lots of cloud and a smoother vapor

A mostly PG mix will enhance throat hit and produce less cloud.

a 50/50 mix will give a nice combination of cloud, flavor and throat hit.

For more info and research

My blogs will give insight into all aspects of DYI, from steeping to what supplies to have on hand to a basic walk through mixing your first E-juice.

Then read hoosier's blogs. These blogs concentrate on fine tuning your mix and give insight on additives.

Then read Boletus's blog's. These blogs concentrate on formulation of nicotine bases regarding proper calculations methods for figuring Nicotine concentration as well as safety.

Then read Ginger's book "E-Cigarettes 102: DIY E-Liquid". It is a book which I've contributed to that delivers an in depth easy to follow guide in the art of DYI.

I recommend viewing VPLive Vape Team Episode #82: DIY Safety and bookmark it for future reference. It explains safety in all aspects of DYI.

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

With 100mg/ml nic... do wear glasses.
For most folk, a drop or so on the skin is nothing, just rinse it off.
But in the eye might be more than a sting. I'm not gonna find out. :p

I most often use gloves just because it makes it easy.
Opening and closing the nic bottle... I don't have to care if it's around the lid/top edge.
I just finish up and then clean it. Then just rinse the gloves under running water.
Pull them off inside out to air out and dry, no holes or tears... they're re-usable.
Ask any auto mechanic. ;)

And unless the brand of flavor you're using is below average strength (could be)... that looks like a lot of flavor. Just sayin'.
Best to check... or you may end up having made twice what you thought. :D

Since it's your first attempt, I would recommend sampling each of the four flavors first (could do this simultaneously along with your mix). Why? Should tell you many things among:
Does the flavor taste good alone
Strength/percentage of the flavor (might need more or less depending on your buds)
The flavor good right away (shake and bake) or need steep (how much) etc......
Might want to take notes.

made my 1st 10ml bottle with
16.5% Strawberry Ripe
7% Banana Cream
7% Kiwi
2% Sweet Cream
total of 1-1.3Ml of flavour
50/50 VG/PG
Nic at 8-9 (I normally smoke 3-6, but a friend smokes 8-12 and he is going to taste it also for there feedback)
now giving it 24h to sit.

the smell from it seems very nice and can mainly smell banana (so might be a bit much banana) but still make out other smells so once the test test happens i will not 100% know.

I have some friends talk about Darth vapor but not able to find any recipes on this one. if anyone can help out.

You mentioned a total of 1-1.3ml of flavor for the 10ml bottle. That is 10-13%. Your recipe has 32.5% of flavors. I work via percentages and, so, I noticed it. I have no idea what Funky Monkey is, but cheers to you. :)

after the main flavour passes i can test some other fruits but hard to make them out.

Your numbers don't add up here and you did not use what you said you used????????????????

You kind of have to tell us from the start what and how much you are using if you want any real feed back.

Banana Ripe is nothing at all like Banana Cream. Banana ripe will rip your face off and needs to be used in tiny amounts. Also, I would try more cream base like VBIC, Vanilla Custard, etc.

thanks man. i changed things up wile making it. the place where i buy my flavors do not do Banana Cream (i am from the UK). so i swapped that out to Banana ripe. and after making it i can see the banana flavour has taken over but was still very nice. and vapped all 10mls of it. going to do some more builds over the weekend. this was just my first build. and the info I got and was nice and great full.

Your a little vague in your question but let me see if I can answer what I think you mean.

1. Flavoring can not be vaped on it's own you need to dilute it with VG, PG and Nic in the proper MG amount (1mg - 24mg) which is optional or a combination there of. This is your base that you add flavoring to.

2. A mix diluted with mostly VG will result in a vape that produces lots of clouds be a little sweeter with less flavor intensity and less throat hit

3. A mix diluted with mostly PG will produce a vape with less cloud, best flavor intensity, less sweetness with more throat hit (throat hit intensifies with the amount of NIC used).

4. A vape diluted with half PG and Half VG will produce a middle of the road vape with a combination of good cloud, better flavor intensity and medium throat hit (think of it as a mid point between 2 and 3 or the best of both worlds).

If your just starting out I would recommend starting with 50/50.

Sorry...If you have an opportunity to buy a standalone, concentrated flavoring, or the same flavoring in a PG or VG form, which is more desirable? Just curious...! I'm looking at a vendor's website where they have DIY concentrated flavors, then a section for "DIY Flavor Array" where some of the same flavors are available with either PG or VG. The concentrates are of course, more concentrated. But are the mixes easier to mix? Why are they being offered both ways? (I don't think they're doublers). Have a look at DIYFlavorshack.com
