Hi!
Any words of wisdom out there for switching from analogs to e-cigs? I bought my e-cig a few weeks ago and I hate to say it, but I lost interest pretty quick. I should have all the motivation in the world - - some health issues related to smoking, going to pretty much no smoking where I work....etc. I'm pretty sick and tired of my "love-hate" relationship with my traditional cigs......HATE what they are doing to me and I know I have a great alternative available to me with my e-cig but dang, still just LOVE my cigs. Just curious about how others have dealt with this and had success. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Kim

Kim,

The best advice I can give you is to dive in and buy some of the better mods, forget all about this beginner stuff anyone can use a mod or ecig,,,, get yourself the right MG juice many start with a bad ecig and way to low of a MG juice and then quite vaping, you may need a 30mg to start out or a 24mg or lower I don't know only your own body will tell you so grab a few small bottles of a couple different MG's of a flavor you will like, try tastyvapor or one of the better juice vendors out there, as far as Mods go, Reo Grand, or a good bottom feeder as well as or a 900-1000mAh Ego/Riva Batt & LR-510 2ohm Atty''s. Lastly your going to spend some money to do all this, but look how much you spend a year smoking, once you have spent your initial money on a good quality first purchase or two you wont be chasing your tail like many that start with a low grade ecig and some bunk juice, if you need any help you are welcome to PM me and I will help you to get going

(this is kind of disjointed- sorry!)

I found a lot of it is just getting used to using the PV more than anything- the weight is a huge difference and it seems really strange for a while. You really have to make a conscious effort to say "no, I'm not smoking" and at least for me, a lot of it was sheer willpower. I also noticed that I coughed a lot more when I stopped smoking analog cigs- and then I remembered that it was my lungs returning to their normal function for the first time in a long while.

Tell someone who cares about you about what you're doing. It really helps to have someone there who can support you and hold you accountable.

Since I'm kind of a geek in a lot of ways, I've been revisiting a lot of my old perfumes- it's amazing how different they smell already! I feel like my senses are sharpening again and it's really kind of cool to be able to take advantage of that.

Another thing you can do is go to places you can't smoke in and vape instead! My favorite coffeeshop lets me use my PV inside and it was a great help for me when I was going through the tougher parts of making my transition. It helps that they know me pretty well at this point and one of the guys inside has used PVs before.

Kim, don't give up, it may take a little while getting used to but there really is no going back with the "love/hate" feeling. You will start to hate it everytime you smoke an analog and the cost and smoking bas are everywhere it seems. Many people slip once in a while in the beginning and soon you will start to hate the taste adn smell of analogs. I hear 10,000 people a week are quitting analogs and converting to e-cigs, if you need the nicotine, it is the best way to get it without 4,000 cancer causing chemicals that analogs have. Once you get used to it, the different juices and flavors make it really interesting and still a healthier alternative to the old habit. Nicotine by itself is similar to and someone drinking coffee and e-cigs will work for you if you just keep trying. I found the trick is to meet people supportive on ECF and around you, and get the right hardware, that is a model that gives you the nicotine and vapor you are used to with the analogs, and the right juices that you like and before you know it you will have given up altogther. Hope you keep giving it a try and good luck.

OK, you are using a kr808d-1 with 18mg cartos? ...and still getting headaches when you use it?

You might try the VG, but then you'll lose out on a lot of the throat hit. You could try the 24mg, but if you are getting headaches I'm not sure how that'll pan out.

You could just promise yourself that you CAN have a cigarette if you can commit to using the e-cig for ten minutes first.. also mix up the flavors if you haven't already. Try some menthol, try some pineapple, sometimes the tobacco flavors aren't what you want after all.

You could alway supplement with swedish snus a few times a day if you really want to quit smoking. That'll give you the maoi's that you'll be missing when you stop smoking.

Well a large part of quitting smoking is being able to play mind games with yourself. I've heard people who switch from smoking to vapping try different things like vapping only outdoors (assuming you live in a smoke free home) or maybe keeping the e-cig inside a cigarette pack... vap in the same conditions you would normally smoke etc etc. Also, you can't expect yourself to be able to quit right away. try just reducing your smoking and substituting it partially with vapping, increasing your vapping habit while lowering the amount you smoke a day. try to do it gradually. just keep trying! good luck

kim - sometimes headaches are caused by too much nicotine. And some people get headache from sucking on auto batteries, especially if you have TMJ etc. if you have auto you could try manual batteries - with manuals you can drag softly if you want - your finger on the button controls when it is making vapor.

Maybe none of the prefilled flavors at Bloog or Vapor4Life has hit the spot for you. You could get a DSE901 atomizer (standard resistance, not LR) and a 901 drip tip and try dripping for a softer vape and to try lots of eliquids. Maybe you would prefer a 510 manual which is lighter though it has shorter battery life. You can use blank cartos with 510 and then it is really small and light but standard 510 only has 2-3 hour charge life for a light to moderate vaper (about 2/3 of the charge life of a standard KR8 battery). A standard Joye 510 is only 100mm long w/ a Boge cartomizer instead of atty+cart. That's 20mm shorter than a KR8 w/ carto. And with an adapter you could also vape your KR8 cartos on it. I use the blank Boge soft-cap cartos (standard resistance) on a manual 510.

If you find the right eliquids for you I think you will like vaping. We are not suffering here vaping instead of smoking. We actually enjoy vaping more. But you need to find the right equipment and liquids for yourself. nd always remember to smell the vapor. Most of flavor is aroma. And ecig doesn't cover you in smoke - you need to sometimes let some vapor escape your mouth so your nose can catch it on the inhale.

I know the feeling. I just love to smoke. I make people laugh when I tell them I am going to get a time capsule to put a pack of cigs in just in case they become illegal and if I am still alive on my 75th birthday I am going to start smoking again. I finally just stopped buying them. my motivation is my 2 sons. they need me around and I want to see my grandkids. good luck

Just a little thing I'm writing up.. hope you find it motivating..
Can anyone help me think of any more?

With Vaping:

you KEEP
...getting your nescessary fix of nicotine.
...having something to hold and fidget with. (ADD,ADHD)
...the diet aspects of smoking (less appitite, eating less)
...the fun aspects of smoking: sexiness, smoke rings, that thing where it looks like you blow smoke up your nose..

you LOSE:
...lighting up (fire BAD)
...looking for an ashtray > dropping dirty ashes everywhere
...emptying dirty disgusting ashtrays
...clothes stinking like smoke
...house stinking like smoke
...car stinking like smoke
...your breath stinking like smoke
...teeth & fingers turning yellow.
...curtains and walls turning yellow
...your family inhaling YOUR secondary smoke
...little kids developing athsma and bronchial problems

and you GAIN:
...choices in more colors than just white with red orange tip and brownish spotted filter
...the ability to step down gradually from nicotine.
...MANY more flavors than just tobaccos and menthol
...lifespan for you
...health for you and your immediate family
...a cleaner lifestyle
...one less major fire hazard in your home
...a lot of money that was previously being burned up!

Of course, the right gear and juice is important. But I think the JusticeKnuckles hit on a key factor for many of us, especially me. The ritual/lifestyle of smoking. At first, I vaped where I smoked, on the same schedule as work. Those little habits are comfortable and give a placebo effect, a satisfaction that the PV didn't give me at first. Over the course of a few weeks those things mattered less to me as my system cleared of the chemicals from cigarettes, and I came to enjoy my PV more. Also, I did not quit day one of vaping. For the first week I vaped and smoked alternately. The bottom line, I took it in steps/phases, and have been smoke free for 3 months. Find what works for you. GL.

Maybe you should try a different model and up the nicotine a little bit. Stay with it every time you need a cigarette puff on your PV you'll get used to it pretty quick it took me 3 weeks to quit analogs all together so just keep with it and eventually you'll get there remember a lot of it is a mental thing you just got to put it in your head that smoking is bad for you and vaping is a healthier alternative you can do it I know you can!!
