Hello to everyone! This is my first time posting to the forum and I was looking to get some recommendations on vaping equipment. First of all, I have never used an e-cigarette, but am wanting to switch over to them from my regular cigarettes. I have been smoking for about 13 years and usually smoke anywhere from a half pack to three quarters pack a day. I generally smoke menthol (Marlboro Smooths) cigarettes.

Looking over all the information on e-cigarettes has been a bit overwhelming, so I thought I would ask here for some suggestions on what I need to purchase. I am looking for something that will last me all day without needing to be recharged and preferably something that tastes like Marlboro smooths (although I'm open to other suggestions). I'm willing to spend some money on nice equipment as long as it lasts, but I don't want to break the bank either. So if anyone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

The gas station ecigs will give you a few hours on a charge, on a good day.

I would suggest an ego twist 1000mah, which should last you all day. On top of the battery I have a Kanger t2 clearomizer. You fill with you eliquid and you are all set for awhile. The heads are replacable too. It's all really easy to use, and not much more in price then the starter kits. And you need eliquid to fill it with. Taste is subjective, and I didn't smoke menthol so I leave that to someone else. Searching each item I mentioned will give you more information. You Tube has lots of info, too. Try Phil Brusardo videos.

Vision Spinner battery 1300mah, vivi nova 2.5ml tank, cheap egp charger, backup battery (650mah should be fine - i'd go w/ a riva) and a dripping atomizer to test flavors is my recommendation/ don't get a kit or cartos. this is just my advice from having gone through all this myself. here's links to where to get this stuff if u want it -

spinner and charger - Welcome to Hoosier E-Cig - The Best E-cigs, Juices, and accesories
genuine vivi nova - Electronic Cigarette | Aqua Vapor Cig Official Home | Best Quality Electronic Smokeless Cigarettes You Can Buy

Do you want it to look like a cigarette or does that not matter?

Good question.

You can't have that (looks like) and lasts-all-day at the same time though.

Also nothing will taste like a cig. You'll learn that over time. Doesn't mean you can't vape tobacco juices...but just to understand...nothing tastes like burning leaves except burning leaves.

All day = 1000 mAh or so IMO. So check battery capacity. Varies depending on the load (ohm rating). Watts = voltage * voltage / ohms.

Variable voltage is nice so you can "tweak it". Other than that... you can get DIY boxes that you solder yourself for < $20.00 and have swappable batteries. Mods can cost from $20.00 on up and may or may not have swappable battery cells. Some are use and toss-when-breaks others swap out cells. Tons of options and reviews.

And don't forget the all-mechanical mods. They are basically a high-amp button and an atomizer connector with a swappable battery. The exact voltage varies a bit as it follows battery charge over time until cut-off. However, no electronics to break (other than any protection in the battery cell itself if using protected cells).

You just have to read up on em. See the reviews. Get an idea of the sizes and styles and options. Too hard to recommend one vs another IMO.

I suggest looking into mods instead of e-cigs. Many more options available for you...rechargeable...and varying on what mod, battery, and power going out will depend on battery life. Battery in most mods last all day.

Disclaimer: I use more than one vendor and everyone has different preferences. I just have a standard go-to that I recommend for new vapers and that is

this. It's cheap and a step up from cig-a-likes, but the batteries are 650 mah, so won't last you a whole day unless you are a light vaper. Like Attypops said, 1000 mah is probably what you are aiming for.

In that case, they have a genuine Joyetech item
here,
but it costs more and could probably be found somewhere cheaper in a non-Joye branded kit.

There are also a lot of VV devices out there, such as the Lavatube and clones, the eVic, and many others. You'll have to look around at reviews and prices to find the best deal.

I recommend cartomizers over clearomizers/tanks/atomizers because they are more consistent and easier to deal with, but people like a number of different things around here. Grats on your decision to switch and welcome to ECF ! : )

I'm a avid vapor. I started with the joye ecig which looked like a cigarette but the batteries always died to soon and I got tired of refilling. I was almost going to start smoking again. But then I got the newer njoy and things got better.
Now I'm on the ego c twist and I use a dc sr tank with cartomizers. They seem to be doing the trick. I do find it hard to get a good cartomizer though. Sometimes new ones just don't work or they don't seem to last long enough for me. But still that is where I am at now.
I haven't bought cigarettes in quite some time. I lost my job and moved to a different state and started smoking again but after finding the tank and carto's I'm glad to say now I haven't purchased any cigarettes in a long time. Once you are on the ecig for awhile a real cigarette just tastes nasty. I can honestly say I could taste the paper burning on a real cigarette.
I'm looking to get a mod but like I said earlier I'm out of work and can't go that route just yet.
I would rec you not get one that looks like a real cigarette, they just don't last long enough and you may end up wasting your money.
Get a varieable battery and a good tank and you should be fine. Of course you have to find a good juice to.

Thanks for everyone's input. After some thinking, I don't think I would care if it doesn't look like a cigarette. I would rather have something that's functional and will last me a while. I've heard some good things about the Ego C Twist. Would something like this include everything I need to get started? Also, are these ok to carry around in your pocket, or do you need to keep them in some kind of case?

Thanks!

The twist is OK. It's vv. It has 5-click shutoff for when you put it in your pocket. Get different atomizers, cartomizers and/or a tank like Ocelot said.

The twist doesn't have swappable batteries, so when it dies you toss it. The battery has a charge-cycle limit (like all Li-Ion ish batteries). Think of it as "Every time you charge it, it degrades a little bit". That's true for all non-swappable battery systems.

The advantage to swappable battery systems is that you only swap out a $5.00 battery (or whatever cost depending on battery type). However, they require an external charger.

Sigelei Zmax mod. $90 kit delivered Varitube.com. Don't waste your time w/little batteries. These are 2200ma 4.2v and last me 2 days of decent vaping. Used to use Halo g6. This costs about $25 more and blows the little units away. Variable wattage is awesome as it automatically compensates for different tanks, clearos and attys. Set it and forget it. Been hearing good things about the Vamo ($50 body) as well but the fit and finish on this is way better especially for China product! Looks and feels like a little light saber. I ordered 2! Good luck with your decision.

First welcome!

Second I'll tell how I got started in vapeing.

I picked up an eGo 950 mAh variable volt battery. You can go with a ego-T or ego-C or a Joye eVic as I have been reading great reviews so far. Mainly you want to get a 950 mAh or higher battery. These should last you all day or at least a normal 9-5 work day.

Then I picked up a clearomizer (1.5 ml with wick system) and a DCT tank (Dual Coil cartomizer(polyfill) with a 3 ml tank.) The clearo allowed me to taste my juices more so then the DCT but the trade off is that the DCT lasted longer between fills (about 2-3 days for my usage). I have since moved on to a Kranger tank that holds roughly 2.4 ml of liquid. This lasts me a full day of heavy vaping borderline chain vaping and uses the same wick system as a clearomizer.

can pick the majority of this up at altsmokes.

Juice flavors are all personal pref. I really enjoy PSV and their Rip-tide a blend of menthol and raspberry looks hella sexy in my Kranger at the moment as well as pleasing to my taste buds.

I hope this was helpful.
