Not sure if I welcomes you aboard or not Lisa. So let me do it now in case I forgot, and if I did already that welcome again :).

eGo is a Joye, but there are also decent clones of it out there. Take a look through the vendor reviews, and there is a Deals & Steals as well as the Coupon Codes Threads. We're all looking to save a buck or two with the holidays coming up.

The vendor review thread (positive and negatives) are good to see about vendor's service. There are some blips of good companies that had a screw up here and there (no one if perfect), but if a vendor is constantly slammed you know to watch out for them.

The manual battery is best, you got that right. I started on an automatic battery and once in a while still pick mine and wonder why I am not getting vapor :). But then again it only took a day or so to getting used to pressing the button. Also only took a day or so to get used to it not being cigarette sized.

As you can see from my join date I am fairly a newbe too. Think I picked up my automatic gas station e-cig Sept 26th, and got my eGo the week after Thanksgiving. There is a little bit of a learning curve and adjustment period but it's nothing major. It less of a hassle than trying to remember where the turn signals and headlights are on a rental car :p.

Even with the lower 650mah or 900mah eGos you should get a good amount of time out of the batteries. Rule of thumb is that 100mah = aprox 1 hour of vaping. So the batteries on an eGo get you though most of the day. The PCC isn't needed like people said before. You should however pick up a small case for it (they sort of look like a diabetic case). This way you can carry your extra battery with you as well as some juice and a few extra cartos.... Forget how much they cost, and some kits come with them, they are fairly cheap but come in handy.

Atty's are good for taste testing juices using the dripping method. This is the kit I started with and I did a lot of research before I purchased it. I was and am completely satisfied. LINK It is actually two ecigs in the kit and the shipping is super fast. Just a suggestion. This kit some 2.0ohm cartos and some juice and you are good to go.

On the eGo, is that the Joyce brand, or Riva? I am so glad I posted here instead of just buying something. Ya'll rock!

You can go either a Joye Ego, or a Riva 510. I would say you get more power with the Riva 510, but looks like they downgraded it to be equal to the Ego, so you just save $10.

1) Get your 20% discount
2) $30-$35 Riva 510 - Lite Bundle (out of stock) or Special edition.
3) $4.00 2 drip tips Any two 510/901 will do.
4) $8.00 SMK 510 Cartomizer 2.5 Ohm (Black) - 5 Pack. or Kanger 510 Cartomizer - 5 pack I'd say Boge, but they're out of stock
5) $14.40 6x 5ml flavors. Choose from PG tobacco PG not tobacco, VG tobacco, VG not tobacco
Suggest 4x 18mg PG, 1x24mg PG, 1x 18mg VG

$61.40 + shipping

The drip tips can go on the atomizers that come with the Lite Bundle, or the Special Edition, you can put 2-3 drops on the atomizers and sample flavors to see if they're worth going in a cartomizer, and wash them out. 2-3 drops also equals ~ 1 cig, so you get the I'm done signal real cigs give you.

Cartomizers are the hassle free way to vape, add fluid, about 1ml, go to town, top them off. This is about a pack's worth, more or less.

PG gives you flavor, and a bit of a throat hit
VG gives you more viable vapor

Edit: I've never actually ordered fluids from liberty-flights. There are USA dealers that made to order, which are quite reasonably priced.

Hi LisaC & welcome aboard! I'm pretty new to all this myself and can't add much to the excellent suggestions you've received, except for one little observation: don't look back. What ever you decide to buy, every time you use it instead of lighting a cigarette it will be paying for itself in ways you'll probably never know. My first e-cig was a big ripoff, costing me over $100 for something worth maybe $25, but that might have been the best C-note I ever spent! After I found this site & did some research I decided to buy an E-Power - kinda like an eGo except with inexpensive, replaceable batteries - and I couldn't be more delighted for now. I have to watch my nickels & dimes so I try to spend them carefully, but if the most valuable thing I get for my money is a lesson that's okay too, as long as I learn it well and, don't look back.

Blessings! :vapor:

Seconded. I got a $80 blu cigs, two $15 el cheep-o KR808s, Cheap 510 kit $25, one $80 T-rex (like an ego) 2x NoEgos (E-power) 14650s $25, 2x NoEgo (E-power) 18650s $35, 1 Jazzcartopipe $125.

This might represent $385, it was cheaper than smoking.

It's kind of why I suggest the Riva 510. It WON'T be the last one you ever buy, batteries are limited to ~300 charge cycles, depending on use, 1 battery could last a year, both batteries should last beyond a year. But after a year you can look at your options, think about a spare battery or a kit with a different feature set. But for the here and now $30-$35, buy it, stop smoking damn it.

I'm going a different direction. I'm going to recommend what I wish I would have started with.
Get yourself a Silver Bullet. It may cost a bit more than egos etc. but it will last you forever. It will also hold it's resale value in case you think ecig is not for you. So, grab a Silver Bullet, 2 * 18650 batteries and charger, 4 * 5packs of low resistance cartomisers and several sample packs of juice. All up it will only cost you about a couple of cartons of cigs and it is indestructible. No learning curve, solid well priced mod, retains resale value (unlike ego etc. batteries) and you can always keep it as your backup when you buy a more advanced device. Also, you can use the Silver Bullet as a High Voltage device when you feel more adventurous.

Trust me, you can't go wrong with a Silver Bullet and I wish I'd have known this when I first started. Don't waste your money on piddly ecig devices that end up dead and useless. Use my waste of money as your guide. I would have loved this advise before I started. Good luck and happy vaping, welcome to the community.

Here's a 4shared link to download the 38 page minibook I wrote. 'Beginner's Guide To Vaping'. I wrote it for a friend i'm giving an ego kit to for xmas, so it covers EVERYTHING you need to know, from what to buy, to wheres cheapest to buy it, to how to fill and care for a bunch of types of cartos and attys, to health info, pg/vg, organic liquids..... Yeah, pretty much covers everything you need to know to get started. Oh...and theres a TON of links to helpful forums here like coupon codes, steals and deals thread, and very specific step by step instructions w links to Youtube videos for every filling/refilling technique you could need....um...let me think... I included Taryn-Spin and how to make a spin bag, Condom Method, Dripping for top off, Syringe Method, plus Cleaning attys and cartos, drying them, and maintaining your equipment. Explained step by step positives and negatives of 4 different kinds of cartos, plus exactly how to fill that kind. Also Dripping w atty and driptip method of vaping. Plus huge list of the best suppliers for anything you could need, from who has the best deal on what, to special things they offer, what flavors are good there, etc. So hope it'll be helpful! Wrote it so my friend wouldn't have to do the weeks and weeks of research I had to before I could figure everything out. Hope it'll be helpful for you (and anyone else who comes this way and would like to grab it!). Happy Vaping!

Welcome LisaC! Lots of good suggestions for you! I won't cloud that issue any further as you already have many good suggestions. What I can add is to drink plenty of water once you start vaping. It can dehydrate you very quickly. Also, once you get your PV, learn to use it. Give it a chance. There is a learning curve to all of this. Let the forum know how your doing with it. If you have "bumps" along the way, someone here can certainly help you with it. Good luck to you! :)

no one ever wants the cigar sized when they first start lol. save this post, and rehash it in about 2 months, then will see what your current pv is at that time lol. i gaurantee you it will be a ego style cig if not mods. ego isnt that big really. do your research man, buy once and be happy. or buy 6 times and be broke, up to you.

welcome to the forums. let the obsession begin!

jtracc, I wanted to personally thank you for getting me to forgo the ciggy look alike, and going for the bigger models. I LOVE my eGo, and appreciate you taking your time to give us clueless noobs some of your wisdom. This goes for all the ECF members who frequent the New Members threads to help us out. Without you all, many of us would give up out of sheer frustration. You guys are changing lives every day, and I thank you all. I posted this on another of my threads, and I'm going to just paste it here.

Updating this to say, I have not smoked an analog since I got my eGo in on Thursday. 5 days! Do you understand how phenomenal this is?? Truly? I've smoked since I was 11 yrs old. I'm 32. That is BAD. This is GOOD. I love my eGo, and am off to find the guy who suggested I skip the ciggy look alikes and go straight for something with more staying power. Bless that man. And thank you to the entire ECF community for making quitting analogs possible for so many of us. Your patience and support is overwhelming, and gives us hope that we, too, can quit this horrible addiction. Bless all of you, and I wish you all the merriest of Christmases, and a Happy, smoke free New Year. Love you all! :)
