Not sure what forum to ask in so here goes.
I have been vaping since march of this year, all on the same brand. I am getting really tired of having to fight with my equipment all the time to get it to work right.
-What I use is 808 style Volt. I have 4 large batteries (2 spinner, 2 x2) and 4 75mm that I use at work (cigalike)
1. all my batteries are growing weak. some of them seem to be over-strong at first and then die right away (voltage regulation is bad??)
2 tired of cartomizers burning up after 1 refill, while others last up to a month or more(in rotation) used at work
3. no matter what tank/clearo I try, i get the same 3 results. leaky,(t3, nano, ce3) cloggy(x2 clearo), or melted plastic taste(newer nano). Ive had the best luck with the t3 "mini" but even with these I rarely get through a refill without some sort of leak. cant put in pocket cause the heat makes it leak. drawing hard cause hit seems weak=alot of coil heat and leaks. leak leak leak

I have done all maintenance regularly, I do the paper towel clean on the coils at every refill, blow out the excess, dry burn when needed to get rid of some of the gunk, etc. Getting fed up, just want something I can fill and go and have more than 40% reliability. as of now I have to bring 4 or 5 with me because it never fails they will all misbehave.

Should I replace my waning batteries and hope(brand loyalty), or try something new?
Would love some suggestions on what to try, I hear good things about ego battery and vivi nova tank.
Also wouldnt mind a suggestion for smaller cig-a-like w/carto (brand??) (a must have for me at work)

Sorry for the rant but Im so fed up that ive started smoking analogs again once or twice a day. spend 20 minutes cleaning and filling tanks just to get 4 good draws and have it go to SHHHH:evil:

Just a note on the batteries. Any of the cig-a-likes are unregulated batteries. They start off fine right off the charger, but as they are used they will drop in voltage. As the batteries get older, the effect becomes much more pronounced, since their voltage will drop off faster. Couple that with a lower resistance device, and it becomes almost unbearable in the way their performance will suffer. For consistency in vape, the ego twist, the vision spinner, or any larger variable voltage/variable wattage mod will deliver much better performance. Kinda hard to decide if you prefer the smaller stick batteries, but that's simply one of their flaws in vaping. If you can handle a cigar-sized device, the ego twist or spinner will help.

As far as the other end, a cartomizer will be the best in non-leakability. Using the clearomizer types or clearomizer tanks will require a little practice, and a trying of multiple devices, in order to find the one that suits you best.

For reliability you really need a mod. The others have mentioned some good ones to check out. For the cigalike size check out the e-roll and tecab. I haven't tried either myself as I'm not interested in cigalikes any more but have heard good things. The advantage of the tecab especially is that it's actually a cigalike sized mod so you can just swap batteries and you don't have to throw the whole thing out when they die.

The Volt batteries by Smokeless Image are actually regulated. How well they do this is arguable. Beside the point...

The main issue is not the batteries, but the juice attachments. Clearomizers and solo cartomizers will always have issue points. I suggest the most consistant and maintanance free juice attachment available today: the cartotank.

This will have a slight learning curve, and takes a few minutes to set up. But once set up they require no attention other than refilling the tank with juice, and exchanging a new cartomizer every 2 - 3 weeks.

These attachments are too large to use on cigalikes, and only the smallest tanks will fit on an ego size battery. I recommend the MVP box mod or a tubed shaped variable voltage mod.

I was a Smokeless Image fangirl for a minute and resisted switching over from the 808 gear (I really liked my X2). But once I did I never looked back. There are SO many more options once you do. I'm currently on the MVP + cartotank bandwagon and highly recommend that set up for a semi noob (like me).

Thanks for all the suggestions, I have alot of reading to do.
I will say this though, I will not be vaping out of that box looking thing! just absurd looking.
That's too bad that you think that way. I have both tube (Provari's) and box mods (MVP), and I like both equally. The MVP is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Many novice vapors do not like the tube mods because they think they look like something from a head shop or a lady's sex toy. Explain that to your family or friends.

The MVP is comfortable to hold in your hand and is front pocket-friendly. It's two to three days on a battery charge is unheard of for any tube mod (You'll be lucky to get one full day). It's arguably the most popular budget-minded personal vaporizor aside from eGo batteries. It's got a lot going for it. That's why so many experienced people here recommend it.

You sound like me awhile back. I swore I would never get a boxmod. Today, they are among my favorite. But there are plenty of tube mod choices, too. It just takes getting over the need for a cigalike. Cigalikes are fine, but there are less issues with other devices.

Once again, I agree with you (insert shocked face here). I love my ProVaris, and I loved my MVP, until today....now I love the VTR. Removable batteries and the tank insert on the side are cool features. One drawback, the battery life would be a bit shorter than the MVP depending on the batteries used.

but I bet you still won't get the battery life that you got out of the MVP2 :D

I am with you on the box mod, I thought they looked silly and was lured in by siren song of nes mod and found I actually prefer box shape over round. I was seriously considering mpv (word of warning the button IS quite stiff) but decided to pop on a provari instead.
I recommend variable egos to noobs and still carry one incase of emergencies and they work great.
Next step up is either a tube mod (vamo, zmax, evic, etc) or mpv. If there is a local store that carries them I suggest asking to hold them.
I was having trouble with joint in my thumb hurting and realized it was how I was pushing my stick mod buttons! Now I use a better hold but I actually like how a box mod sits... Looks silly true, but great vape and fits my hand nice.

I assume guys with bigger hands probably feel the same way.

If you can find the 3400mah Panasonic 18650's they'll give the MVP a run for the money . I get 3 days out of them in my SVD .

I'm with you there. I have small hands, and it is imperative for me, personally, to have something the relative size and shape of a cigarette. It needs to stay comfortably in my hand while I do other things - type, drive, play video games, etc. Once I don't need that... I won't need to vape because that means ALL the habits of smoking will have been broken. It also needs to be ready to go in seconds. That's why I no longer use anything but cartomizers. I am just NOT at all, even a little bit, interested in the maintenance of an atomizer or anything else. I just want something that is as quick and easy to use as lighting a cigarette was, because if it isn't, I will NOT use it, because it hasn't replaced smoking.

I'll be watching this thread to see what is recommended.
