Well, I was about to place my order for a Blu starter kit and then discovered this forum. NOW, I am thoroughly confused. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much data 'round here to make an informed noob decision. SO, here are my stats, wishes, hopes, and dreams... Please excuse the "all over the place" delivery of my words. I'm just gonna type what I think of, aight?! I am a mechanic. The only time I touch my cig is when I pull it out of the pack and when I put it out. It hangs in my yap pretty much 100% of the time. That makes an automatic a must for me. Another concern is weight/length. Obviously the more it weighs and the longer it is, the more gravity is going to turn this into a failed experiment. A traditional king-sized smoke is what I'm goin' for here. I also don't have a computer sitting out in the garage. While I can use a USB charger at home, I have to charge in a wall outlet. I love idea of the charger pack that the Blu has. Car chargers would be a bonus too. Of course the longer the battery life, the better. I smoke a pack a day of ultra lights. They cost me $4.50 a day. The better I can reduce the amount of money spent, the better. I need to feel the hit in my throat. Instead of getting ultra light nic stuff, I'm considering starting out with medium stuff. Again, I'm working in a garage, so something that can take the occasional bounce off a concrete floor would be peachy. I've been lighting up for.... uuuuuuuuuuhm... lemme count... whoa nellie. 28 years. I take 25 HARD drags per analog. I'm roughly downing 2 analogs per hour. I don't really care to play with mods or mixing and matching different brands of doohickeys to make things work better. I really need a one source solution. I like the idea (and cost) of using drops, but not if I am risking leaks, tweezer-type hoop jumping, or other issues that this noob isn't aware of. In the end, whatever works most reliably I suppose. And lastly, I will not deny that I completely wig~out with nic fits when I get off schedule. Both my wife and son have begged me to start smoking again on multiple quitting attempts. With that being said, I need to buy from a place that has a never-ending supply of product, great customer service, and fast, reliable shipping. If you have reached this point of my message, I thank you mucho for taking the time to read my rant. If you would be so kind, please take the next step and tell me what I should be buying, and from who I should be buying it. And of course, if you need to ask me something to improve your suggestion, feel free to ask. I will watch this thread with much anticipation. Now if you'll excuse me, it's time for a Pall Mall Orange. Chrissy-Pooh needs his meds. Peace and Metal Grease. \m/ :headbang: P.S. I can't justify jumping into a $200 experiment. The feeling wiggling around in my stomach is hinting at a starter kit price point of $100 or less. LOL! P.P.S I have tried a friends' e-cig and after i "felt it", I was a believer... So don't give up on me just yet! Thanx again (in advance), whoever U R.

since you require that the cigarette be hanging from your mouth instead of holding it, then i would say the joye 510 or a joye 510 copycat (i heard that some copycats are better) is the way to go for light weight stuff.

i have been a smoker for 18 years and have to say that although i haven't yet quit analogs, my analog usage has gone down about 50% which is amazing, since it took no effort on my part to do so.

By the way, i bought a silver bullet as my first E-Cig (wanted to get a really nice one but it did cost me some money)

welcome berube27! I have been vaping for 2 months now and quit cigarettes completely due to the type of device i purchased. initially i started with e-cig's shaped like real cigarettes but i still felt the need to have a real one once in a while. Now i have a REOmini and my cigarette days are over. its a little over your $100 budget but believe me. if you really want to quit and your wife and child want you to im sure they wont mind you spending a little extra to kick that nasty habit.
like rook2pawn stated a nice joy510 would do the job to start off but in the long run you would like to upgrade. so why not purchase the best to start off? I have 1 PV and its is absolutely the best.

Heres a link for a RIVA 510 kit for only $30:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-901-kits-2-99-shipping-20-off-all-stock.html
make sure you use the discount code: ECF

The PV mod i use and i absolutely recommend to any and everyone is a REO:
REO's Mods | Home of the REO PV

heres a link to the reo thread. theres alot of info in here and it moves fast so dont feel overwhelmed. people will gladly answer any questions you may have:

Somewhere in time.
Joye 510 auto batts SUCK. like-sucking cement through a straw. Find a small 4081 kit-

A lot of people don't like them, but they've got the best auto batteries I've tried, fairly light and the right size. While heavier than a cig-it's doable.........for kit azsmokefree.com has always done me right and has great prices. Make sure to order at least one extra batt-life is short on them-you need at least three. Go for cartos for ease if you like (It really is easier)....you will have plenty left for juice, etc.

My uncle smokes 2 packs a day and has cut down to about 7 a day in two weeks with this thing-and it is the only one he would consider. Won't even try anything else because he wanted looks like a cig-which it almost does.

The mv sidesho has lighter batts and good autos-second choice, and what I use 90% of the time.I love it but it is a bit more expensive, and frankly too much style to actually look like a cig, so if you don't like the idea of a 4181-give it a try:)

Good luck:)

oh-forgot to mention-whatever you choose will take a day or two to "break in"-so don't give up:)

I gotta go to work-but if you get your post count up and pm me-will send you a 4081 kit I have lying around. You'll still need extra batts and a PCC-and cartos if you want em-but I don't really use it much, and can get another later if I really miss it:) Gotta make a PO run tomorrow........

I work on cars for a hobby (mud racing to be specific), so I spend alot of time under them so I understand where you are coming from. My old renamed 510 is light enough to pull it off. It is still not as light as an analog but I found it doable. The only thing is the automatic batterys I'm not real found of due to the inconsistency issues I had. That may all be related to the off brand that I bought at the local quickie mart. I have an ego now, which there is no way I'm holding that thing in my mouth with my lips. I'm not so sure about the medium strength stuff if you'll like it or not. I would stasrt off with a 24 mg and go from there. Most kits you buy come with 2 batteries which may be enough(doubtfully) to get you through the day however alot of them come with manual batteries. As far as a company to deal with i would go through freedomsmokeusa. They have treated me well and always have discounts. Now the only thing I'm not sure if you are going to want to do all of the time with the PCC (personal charging case) is put everything together while being under a car. I persoanlly like grabbing my setup and puff away. If I had a job where I was steady working and didnt have time to .... around with screwing and unscrewing this is what I'd get. It is not a kit but something peiced together, it will keep you under $100 as well(remember this is only an opinion)

2 automatic batterys from freedomsmokeusa (FreedomSmokeUSA) $25
1 pcc FreedomSmokeUSA $25
1 5pack of cartomizers FreedomSmokeUSA $8
Juice is on sale 5-10ml bottles for $21 so pick some that sound good to you, coupon code is: 10ml
So all together you are looking at about $79
I would reccomend that one bottle be Wins/ton for the fact that everyone I have let tried it has liked it. seems to be a good beginning juice.
Please keep in mind that this is no more than my opinion and what I would do if I was in your shoes.

The KR808D-1 family (808) is a 2-piece design, the "filter" screws on to the battery. I've been very happy with them. Analogalternative.com has a starter kit for $35, while I've had really good experience with NHaler and vapor4life (v4l, their VaporKing is an 808). NHaler and V4L kits run about $50, but there's a 10% off code always (saveinnj and smilin).

Be sure to pick up extra eliquid or pre-filled cartomizers -- it sucks to start off, then run out. Pre-filleds are general simplest to start with. Think of a pre-filled as 12 - 15 cigs' worth of vaping, though I have a friend who believes the v4l cartos last him longer.

808s have PCC, personal charging cases, available -- a little clamshell case with a decent sized battery that you can recharge the 808 batteries in during the day.

What's called the Mega (NHaler) or XL (v4l) battery is a longer 808 battery which gives about 50% longer use between charges -- nice. V4L also sells, I believe, a PCC case that fits XLs, and can also of course recharge standard-length batteries.

Typical for pack a day regular smoker is 24 mg eliquid -- some people need higher strength, while some need only 18. A lights smoker would normally use an 18 mg strength liquid, with some needing 24 and others 12. (This is just to give you a hint at what's likely going to be needed).

You'll need to drink lots of water -- the eliquid is a humectant, the vapor you see on exhale is about 99% water drawn out of the air.

Auto batteries do tend to work well. All vendor batteries have early life failure problems, but at least NHaler and v4l have very good customer service, make good on stuff if there are problems in the first couple of weeks of use, once you get past any initial issues batteries last months.

Good luck!

it looking like a cigarette won't matter to you honestly. It will be battery life, how much vaper it makes and stuff like that.

The ego starter kit (with manual batteries) at Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. is great. Buy a pack of 5 empty cartridges and a bottle of ecopure english toffee. Then go to backwoods brew's website. Get malty toffee and applewood. :D

Just my opinion. It's my get-off-cigarettes kit I've recommended to a lot of people I know and it does the trick every time.

Car chargers are readily available -- a good one will have a 2A USB output, so you can use what's called a passthrough (PT, something with a connector on one end and a USB plug on the other -- it lets you vape while the car is running without using your PV battery). About $10 for the charger, with the PT running $10 - $15.

Auto batts do give you good hands-free use. I use mine mowing the lawn, my car PT is an auto (no messing with a button while driving), I only have one manual PT now, the other stuff is auto.

I'll throw this at you also. I smoked 2-4 packs a day. I ALWAYS had a cig dangling out of my mouth. When I decided to quit, I bought a manual 510 kit. In place of the analog cig, I used a cut piece of straw. I only went to my ecig when I needed my hit of nicotine. I started on 36mg but have drastically reduced it in a little over 2 months. I haven't read any solid good reviews about automatic batteries. I've been curious myself but decided against it. Good luck in your venture.

Definitely get an eGo and definitely get a manual (small button) PV (personal vaporizer). Stay clear of autos. Get blank carts and fill with e-liquid and I would recommend starting with 24mg nic strength liquid. Tastes better and costs much less. And stay away from Blu.

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

Good Luck

My advice, if you plan to quit and are a heavy smoker you're going to need something that gives a satisfying drag. I, like most others started with a cig sized ecig and muscled my way through quitting analogs. It wasn't that bad, but was much easier once I got a decent sized pv. Night and day difference imo. So I'd say go with the 510, but upgrade to a ego\riva battery. Trust when I say that eventually, a heavy smoker is going to tire of constantly switching out batteries. If the thought of an atomizer turns you off, that's understandable. But you should at least try them, and see what works for you. Some folks are all for cartomizers, some a little of both. Good luck in whatever you decide to run with, and I hope you're successful in quitting.

he stated that he's a mechanic who smokes while works hands off. I have an ego an ego and would never be able to hold it in my mouth for an extended period of time. Also when having both hands tied up in amotor or transmission, pushing a button is not an option.

There are somethings people are going to have to compromise on to be successful at this. While a reg 510 may just do the trick, if this guy was a smoker like me, pushing a button will be way quicker than taking eternal drags off of a auto battery and still never feeling like our lungs have anything in them. Just my 2 cents

That's why I suggested an 808 -- 808 autos do a nice job. I use them, they're real, still using one of my original 808 auto batteries after 4 months. Pushing a button doesn't cut it when you actually need both hands, and/or your hands are covered in gunk -- manuals don't play nice when applying roof cement, while an auto is fine until you can clean your hands.

Nothing against the 510/Riva/eGo family. But decent life, decent hit, auto, without being unwieldy, is a combination that the 808 fulfills.

I started with a store bought auto, still don't know the thread type but if you take care of them they can last. The most important thing is to refill your carts/cartos properly so the juice doesn't leak into the battery.

The suggestion for 510 auto batteries with cartomizers is a good one. Cartomizers hold more juice then cartridges and will not have to be changed more frequently then the batteries. Get a spare battery or two asap for backup. My minis survived a few falls onto tile and concrete but you never know.

If you order from FSUSA I recommend trying there Wyatt Earp and Applewood blends! I've never used Joye branded cartos, but I believe you need a syringe to fill them so make sure you order that as well if you go with them.

If filling with a syringe isn't your thing I recommend Boge branded cartomizers. There available from a lot of places, I purchase mine from madvapes.com. With a Boge carto you can just pop off the rubber cap and drip the juice into the carto. Madvapes has automatic 510 batteries and all the charging gear you need as well.

I still recommend FreedomsmokesUSA for juice though!

I know a lot of people say to start at 24mg nic strength, but if you smoked lights, this may be a bit much especially because at first it will be like a new toy and you'll be using it constantly! I would recommend getting juice in a couple strengths to find your sweet spot. I smoked marlboro reds for many yrs and then switched to lights, then ultra lights and smoked them for the past 10 yrs or so and I find 8-12mg comfortable. 18mg's seems to be OK if I don't vape too long.

As far as the battery issue. For your stated purposes an auto would be fine, be careful not to overfill or juice will leak and fry your battery. But, I would also get a larger battery when not working! Keep a couple small batteries with you while working so one can charge while you use the other... you will regret not getting a larger one for off times! Not being prepared will tempt you to run to the store and buy cigs!

Juice-Like I said before, I recommend buying a couple different strengths and for awhile the taste may not seem right, your taste buds are probably pretty shot from cigs..this will get better. And read reviews on vendors but specific flavors will taste different to everyone. Many vendors let you pick the ratio of PG/VG. VG=more vaper. PG=more flavor

Many people start getting a sore throat soon after starting, this too, will get better. Good luck!!

I'll agree with the eGo recommendations (for long battery life). Get a manual battery, so juice won't leak into the battery and kill it, which happens very often.

Get a Joye (Joyetech) eGo kit (either 650mah, 750mah, 900mah, or 1000mah -- the higher the mah, the longer the battery will last before needing to be recharged) -- or a Riva or Tornado kit (which are generic eGos).

The battery life will be your first concern (at some point in your vaping experience, if not already). After a few days of charging batteries all day long, you won't care what the PV (personal vaporizer) looks like.

The eGo battery is the most popular and has the longest life of any of the standard e-cigs available currently.

Check out the following sites for prices and availability. Look for a starter kit that's priced around $30 to $65. Ask here if you have more questions. Read more threads in the Newbie Section here. A lot of people have given advice to a lot of newbies with the same questions.

Sometimes new member forum reads like a rolling add for the mega 510's

someone could come on here and say they have no fingers and people would still be pushing a manual eGo

to the OP a kr808 works great for at work/on the go...my hands are busy...vaping

It is heaving than a normal cig so you won't keep it in your mouth as much but I often have mine in my mouth (generally between my teeth but my lips can hold it as well) while I play my bass and it is no big deal...you can also keep it in your front shirt pocket if you have one...as an ecig isnt going to get crushed like a normal one would.

You will not get as tired of changing batteries on a kr808 as you would a mini 510 as the batteries last longer on a kr808...at least that is my experience and I have not heard otherwise. The automatics on a kr808 are better than any 510 I have seen as they are not sound activated but pressure activated so they do not go off during rock concerts (but may if your in a submarine or plane)

edit: but since you asked specifically for super mini's you can go to volcano
http://www.volcanoecigs.com/
click on volcano accessories
order one atomizer 5.99
one battery 9.99
one charger 3.99
and one prefilled pack (which you can later use to refill) for 3.99

so yea 24 bucks and you can try out a super mini and see how you like it.
if you actually do like it you can go back and get another battery/atomizer and the pcc
