actually cartomizers are easier to use because they hve to be filled half as much as an atty/cart system. They hold twice as much juice. However the atomizer is of a different design and as a result, performs a little differently.
When you use an atty/cartridge (like the 510,et. al.) you have to fill the cartridge by pulling off the cartridge off and dripping juice into it. Cartomizers are usually filled by putting liquid into one of it's caps and pressing the carto into the cap thus "injecting" the juice into the carto.
I think one method is as fussy as the other but with a carto you do it less often. I think I prefer the vapor I get from a regular atty though. I also use a 6 volt PV almost exclusively and the cartomizers don't hold up to that kind of current very well.

I'm not totally sold on the cartomizer idea. Seems to me like it's more to go wrong, and just a bit more of a hassle. Again I never smoked much anyway, just a bit more than what you would consider a social smoker probably. Coffee in the morning, after meals, getting into a car, and during work. Nothing to crazy really. 5-10 a day depending on the day at work. So I don't really need for it to whole a whole bunch. Obviously it seems a bit more convenient, but not necessary.
I guess at this point, I'd leaning towards a 3 piece system.

Meh....It's all a matter of preference. If you went with a 510 (maybe spring for the eGo which has a bigger battery that lasts 4 times longer than a regular one) you could always order a box of 5, 510 cartomizers (yeah, they got them for the 510) and try it both ways. Make up your own mind. A box of 5 cartos for the 510 is like $9.00.

From what I have read, what has not been mentioned about atomizers is that just because they stop working properly does not mean that they are dead. It could also mean that they are flooded and need a cleaning. I have had atomizers that I have used for several months and continue to use. As long as you can get them to cherry up then you are fine.

Regarding cartomizers, I would not say that they are more trouble to use, in fact cartomizers are easier in some ways because for example with the new turbo cartomizers they can hold a lot more liquid and therefore you can vape on them much longer. To refill them or to fill blank cartos are really quite easy when you use the condom filling method. As far as cartridges are concerned, they too do not last for ever, the filler can be removed and washed but after a while they get tossed too. You can get other filler to refill them if you so choose as well.

I think that one thing that Paul needs to keep in mind is what kind of vape is he looking for. There are cartomizers, 510's, 901's and 801's (the most popular styles) and choosing one is directly related to how he likes and what he likes in terms of his analog habit.

Hi Paul,
With your smoking habits you dont really need a big battery and seem to be looking for a cig look type of unit,
Heres how to have a 2 piece and 3 piece unit all in one.
Get a kr808-d kit, value 4 life sells them among others. Then go to Good Prophets and get a kr808 to 510 adaptor, and some 510 atomizers.
Make sure you get the manual batteries in the kr808 kit. It will come with a charger too
Now you have both a 2 piece unit that can use cartomizers and the adaptor allows you to put a 510 atomizer on the battery and make it a 3 piece unit.
Be sure to get lots of juice to go with it all.
There are lots of juice makers, the suppliers forum on here will help with that and read the juice review threads here for where to buy.
The cartomizers can be refilled, the cartos on the 510 atomizer can be refilled too,
You can buy pre filled cartomizers and pre filled cartos too if you choose not to refill,
Thats it in a nutshell.

How long is the 510 though, it appears to be a couple inches longer than a standard analog. I mean, I could deal with this, if it had to come down to it, but ideally, I would like an analog sized e-cig. I will definitally remember this post when it comes down to my decision.
Thank you for all of your help thus far! :)

I know it's not a life changing choice. But I have nothing but time over here in Kuwait to research and try and nail it on the head, the first time. I I'm sure that I'm making a big deal out of this, but I want my first real experience, to be a good one as I never want to smoke an analog, again. Ever.

Well, that seems like a lot of mixing and matching. Unforunately with my lack of experience, I am a bit weary of trying this. Can anyone else vouch that this is a decent set up? It's not that I don't trust you. I truely do appreciate your input and am considering it.

Thanks again everyone. Told you that I always have more questions. ;)

Hey Paul, go on over to the madvapes site and send your question about the length of the 510 or 901 in the contact box. I'm pretty sure Mark would e-mail you the dimensions. They're pretty darn close to the B&H cigs I used to smoke.

I will certainly do that once I am out of the office. (email blocked =/ )
Unless anyone else can answer that for me.

I think I need to re-read those 6 articles welcoming me to this wonderful world, as they seemed to of 'gone in one ear and out the other'.

I don't smoke now, but I was smoking Camel Crush (trendy ;) ). I liked the taste of the menthol, how it essentially felt like you weren't smoking anything, but you still got the nicotine. And I don't really know. I guess it was just the flavor. It was an easy drag, but isn't that something that everyone should like?
Thanks! :)

If you want something that smokes really light I would then go with the 801 atomizer. The 801 is a light vape, and to me it sounds like it would be more suited to your previous analog habit. A 510 would be too harsh for you and a 901 is like between a 510 and a 901 in terms of vaping. This is just my opinion.

Good advice Colonel. The 801 (in the forum of a joye stick) is my 'light, relaxing vape', and menthol comes through well on any atomizer.

Thank you Kent, I just wanted him to have a good experience. People are extremely helpful but they really need to first find out what the persons analog habits are in terms of what they smoked and why they liked it. That is how I chose e-cigs for people that come to me for advise.

Hey It's fun. :)

By the way. A standard DSE 901 with the atty and cart is 4 5/8" long and 3/8" in diamiter. I don't own a standard 510 battery, I just use the attys with my mods sometimes, so I can't measure one of those but I believe It's close to the same.

I'm glad that you find helping me, and other noobs fun. Thank you for the measurements. I honestly don't know how long a regular analog is anymore, but it seems like that'd be pretty close to the same.

See, the thing is that I think I would want a light vape, but I don't want to be disappointed. I mean, just as most smokers I went through the Marlboro phase, Camel wide phase, and actually I ended my smoking on Salems (after the last price increase and cut hours at work Food>Cancer ;) ). Sounds like a 510 is about what I 'want'.

Joye stick? o_O I'm not sure what that means =/

I want to have a good experience too! :D! haha, obviously.

I know that you all have been extremely helpful, but something that could help more, would perhaps be a link to what you're talking about. Still with the k80this and the that01 I'm getting all bss aackards. !
