I've been a Kanger gal for about 5 years and I've never had issues....until now. Single coil at first then dual coil when those first came out.
Now it seems that all of a sudden, I am having issues which I can only attribute the switching from a 50/50 mix to a 70 VG mix. But it is odd....I've gone throug several bottles of the 70%VG over the past few months with no problem and all of a sudden, I'm burining wick with dry hits and having a hell of a time getting any vapor or flavor (I vape Naked 100 juice so they typically have a lot of flavor)
I've spent hours and hours reading up as to why and it always comes back to the thicker liquids being slower to saturate wicks, leading to more dry burns and the taste of sadness instead of my yummy melon liquid.
I should mention this, I always replace the silica wick with cotton for better flavor and have been doing this for years with great success. So much that I have to hunt down the original style coils and I never buy the upgraded kanger dual coils since you A: can't rewick them and B: the upgraded coils only go to 1.8 ohms and I prefer 2.0 ohm coils otherwise I just can't taste anything.
On another note, the last batch of coils I got were always shorting out prior to even using them....even before I switch out the silica for cotton, i test quickly to make sure it's a good coil.
So aside from any other solutions you all might have, I am starting to search for a new set up. Now every time I look for answers, it's always about sub ohm vaping and I've tried it HOWEVER, I don't like how hot the tip gets nor do I like a straight to lung hit...it's just too much.
Does there exist another tank (NOT a sub ohm) whose coils do well with thicker liquids? I've tried an Aspire nautilus which did not make me super happy since they are so tight to uscrew to fill and my premature arthritis does not like me very much for it.
I don't want to build my own coils - I'm cool to rewick but that's as far as I am willing to go - in fact, I'd like to be able to replace my wicks when the coils get gunked up....it saves quite a lot of money which is key. I also want to continue to use my VV batteries....not a mod with removable batteries but just stick with the batteries I can recharge like my e-Go VV 1100mah batteries. It's so frustrating and at this point, my kanger protank 3 is bringing me no joy whatsoever.
Many thanks for reading this far.
