I'm confused... I think your thinking is backwards. On most mech mods, the positive is always attached, and the switch grounds it (connects the negative).

What you're proposing is exactly how 99% of mods already work...

Not entirely so. If the mod has a bottom switch or bottom side switch like the caravela or the gg, the negative gets switched. If the switch is on the top side and fired with the thumb, like a silver bullet, then the positive is getting switched.

Since the circuit does not care, it would be nice if the design allows for the battery to be installed in both orientations as the mod's vent holes are usually at the bottom and the battery's own vent holes are on the positive end. This way, in an event, the gasses have an easier route down and out, away from the face.
