I had a nemesis clone kicking around as I was reading about various patina finishes here. I saw all the ammonia and salt mixtures and I wondered what would happen with just high heat in the oven and coconut oil baths afterwards.

This is the result after 3 baths following 15 minutes in an oven at 500 degrees. No need to spray finish as it's in the brass now. This is after a week of use.

I decided I didn't like the rings either so back in the oven the nemesis went with a salt/oil crust to bake at 500 degrees for 2 hours and no more rings

Notice the color change in 2.5 hours at 500 degrees. I didn't do the top ring or the switch.

It was weird how the lines showed up after baking it for an hour at 500 degrees. I measured them and they were exactly the same length apart so it must have something to do with the manufacturing that came back out when I heated up the brass? I am not sure but I think the oil baked into the brass?? as it has a really shiny look even after a day or so of constant use and it leaves no residue on the hands at all. I think the light blue spots came because of the salt I put in the oil as well. Might be a neat experiment to just take a cheap brass clone and just bake it to see what happens with that? In real life, it looks like a marble finish for sure and I noticed a huge difference in leaving it in for a longer time and using the coconut oil on it.
