Ok...so I've been vaping for a few months now and am wanting to take the plunge into the world of mechs. I currently vape a Kayfun lite clone with a 28 gauge kanthal 1.4 ohm coil, cotton wick, using an itaste mvp 2.0 box mod. After reading in great depth about different batteries, kicks, etc regarding mechs, I find myself overloaded with information, and a bit frazzled mentally. I've narrowed down my choice of a mech for use with my KFL to either the hammer clone or nemesis clone. My question is this: which battery would be best to use? I'm aware that Li-mn IMR batteries are the safest to use now, and for anything sub ohm you want a high drain greater than 10 watts. Currently, I do not plan on doing any sub ohm builds; the kayfun's sweet spot seems to be within the 1.2-1.5 ohm range. That being said, should I use a kick with those ohm ratings, and which battery would be best at said ohm loads?

Your MVP is "regulated", so I can guarentee you won't enjoy your 1.4ohm on a mech. You will indeed be winding just under an ohm, and yeah: the Nemesis mod is quite nice. (Most of the springs sorta' sucketh, and the magnets I got from FT didn't work well at all), but the rest of the design is pretty nice.

You'll want at least 10amp batteries, and nowadays 20amp - even 30amp - are available. Ohms Law rules the mechs.

I read several posts of people using a KFL + Nemesis setup post-1 ohm and getting great results. Are you saying in order to get as good or better results than my mvp I'll need to sub ohm my KFL on a nemmie? I've read numerous times that kayfuns' sweet spots are generally in the 1.2-1.7 ohm range. What about using a kick 2 on it for builds greater than 1 ohm?

I running a Russian 91% (a KFL Clone) at .8 ohm with twisted 28g on a Copper nemmie clone right now with top notch flavor. I also smoothen my switch up with some 600 grit sand paper and added some magnets that I got from FT. I use 3 of the FT magnets in my switch 2 on the bottom of the switch and 1 on the top with good results. as for batteries I have switched to Sony VCT4 and VCT5s almost exclusively. They cannot be beat and worth the extra few bucks. The Sony VTC 4 and 5s have not let me down. Quality and safety first when it comes to batteries. I pick them up any time I see a vendor running a sale on them. Just watch out you can find clones of the Green sony cells around that are cheaper batteries that have a green wrapper on them.

Ok I'm glad this was brought up, because I've searched high and low and can't find any info on what magnets do. So, what exactly is their purpose in a mechanical mod?

Magnets are use in the switch replacing the springs such as in the Nemesis mod. It works as all magnets have a north and south pole and if opposites attract will the same pole repels hence how it works using north to north or south to south. Magnets generally also give good conductivity though some springs do also.

People posting that you need to go below 1ohm are Blowing smoke!!!!!

Kayfun has been reported having GREAT results from sub ohm to over 2.5ohm. Kayfun is a VERY versatile tank and only limited by your build ability.
I personally run all 7 of mine between 1.3 and 1.6ohm.

I can tell you a Kick in a Nemesis with an 18500 or 18650 and a Kayfun at 1.4-1.6ohm can be a great all day vape machine.

Again - it depends on build ability - YMMV

Totally agree with crxess. I vape my KFL+ and Russian 91% at about 1.4 ohms and happily use them on all my mechs, including the Nemesis. It's all about where your flavor sweet spot is.

I have 3 Kayfun (I? for plural?).

Tried sub ohming them. Lower than 1 ohm and I run into wicking issues with anything but my Rocket (clone of a kayfun).

My sweet spot is 1.3 to 1.5 ohms. Great flavor and easy wicking.
