I wasn't aware that vaping made your lungs less pink. My lungs are much, much cleaner after 8 months of vaping. vaping is a good thing. I know that because I can breathe better and I stopped coughing up black gunk. utahraptor sounds like the kind of person who would probably start smoking if he didn't start vaping.

My lungs are are also better after my 2ppd habit for 27 years I breath much easier now. But that is NOT an effect of vaping. It's what happens when you quit inhaling burning substances.

Read his post again. He asked if it was a bad idea, and the risks of vaping. I gave him a truthful answer. Nothing more.

To the op. I started smoking at 15. And did smoke for 23 years. I did it for the "buzz" at first too. If they would have had e cig in the 1980's, my first thought would be I would have become a vaper. That being said, if you are not addicted to nicotine right now. I would say don't start. It is a really hard habit to break. But it is your body, and the choice is totally up to you. Just giving you my opinion of a "life lesson", that was learned by my experience.

Or maybe I should say for Nicko's sake...it goes away for most people.

I disagree. Most smokers and vapers I know just love their nicotine hit and the buzz they get from it. It's amazing and it is a life-long pleasure. And it's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. It's a buzz that we need, otherwise we just can't function normally. For many people the craving just never goes away. It's like torture to quit smoking. Would you rather we be denied a decent nicotine hit? Maybe you don't really need nicotine, but many of us do. Unless you smoke it, there's really no scientific evidence to say that the addiction is harmful. So, why do you worry about it? Do you worry about coffee addiction?

I have to say my experience and the experiences from the people I've talked with previously differs from yours Nicko. Perhaps it's a different interpretation of the need, or what we're describing as a buzz.

If I go for more than an hour or so without nicotine I'm miserable, edgy, etc. Since I gave up cigs my lungs aren't screaming for satisfaction and that's a definite plus for the e-cigs. But I have no doubt that I am still extremely addicted to nicotine and that it does affect me. I recently managed most of a week at 0 nicotine. I went back to 36 mg to keep from going back to cigs after constant cravings and headaches. That same story can certainly be told by others here. So, no, I have no doubt that nicotine itself is an addiction. My point is that if someone asks whether they should actively seek to become addicted to something, harmful or not, my answer is of course not.

Yes it's a great idea, and then you should drink espresso 8 times a day to really build up a good caffeine addiction, and while you're at it chew on nutmeg at least twice a day - with all that you will be in real control of your senses and the world will open up new windows of opportunity, colours will be more vivid and ladies will want to bed you on sight.

NO!

Look it's your choice, but as you did ask for advice, NONONONONONOOO! Do NOT start an ADDICTION. I don't care who says nicotine is great blah blah whatever, it is an addictive substance and we vape because we NEED to, not just because we WANT to! I could sure find something to do with the money I spend on atties and juice!

Anyway, rant over :) I wish you well :)

Poison yourself any way you want....but don't expect anyone to think it's a good idea. I like chemicals, and have consumed a fair number of them over the years. Nicotine isn't even in my top 5 of substances I enjoy consuming- I just do it because without it I'm a mega ....., and sleepy all the time.

The buzz isn't really all that pleasant if you feel one at all, and there's really nothing that's really fun about it- it's not like going out drinking or anything like that. I smoked for so long my brain chemistry is altered, and I need it to stay away through the day. It's not a fun way to live, but it beats smoking.

Seriously, if you need to ask strangers on the Internet if something is a bad idea- it's probably a bad idea.

I'm 45. And I love my nic buzz.
I have mostly agreed with the things you've said in this thead.
But I have never gotten any buzz that I can feel from nicotine alone.

From cigarettes, yes? That carbon monoxide rush first thing in the morning.
But I don't get that from an electronic cigarette.

Maybe some people DO get a buzz from nicotine, I don't know.
But if so, it doesn't seem to be very many people.

What I want to know is why do you want to start vaping e-cigs? Is there a good reason for you to start and do you plan to use nic in it? If so, why? Do you think it will help your nerves or what? If you have a good reason to start then go for it, I wish I had never started smoking and didn't know what it was like to be addicited to nic but for whatever reason you have it is YOUR choice!

Strange. I agree with most... I turned to this because I HAVE a nicotine addiction. I don't really get a buzz, but it has tremendously helped me. I don't think nicotine is beneficial, and it certainly doesn't calm me down. It wakes me up, if anything, which analogs used to do. Nicotine isn't exactly deadly unless you're bathing in it. If you honestly believe you want to do this, it is up to you to decide, but I strongly believe you are making a mistake to turn to e-cigs for a buzz.

I say go for it but use 0 nic. I'm going to be 32 this year and I'm vaping 24mg juice all day. I also have to have caffeine all day long. My caffeine intake isn't to perk me up, it's to keep the headaches away. I can drink a tall can of redbull and then go to bed. If you aren't addicted, don't start. It's a real ..... to be a slave to a substance.

I agree with most posters, I am addicted to nicotine. I smoke and dip and am looking to replace these bad habits with a safer, cleaner alternative. That is why most of us are here, in my opinion. I am a newbie and just received a reo mini but still waiting on batteries. To the original poster DONT START abusing nicotine, if you wanna have fun get 0 nic juice and vape away. In my humble opinion though there is better way to waist money, that's what girlfriends are for.

If u r really over 18 do what u want. Why would a 28 year old be asking about abuzz from an ecig? Have u read a bunch of people here talking about a buzz lol no. Do u not know nicotine is addictive your 28? U r asking a bunch of ex smokers ...and smokers if that is a good idea? Lol would u ask a crack addict if crack was a good idea? If you want to do it for fun or flavor use 0 nic if you are 18 or over. Maybe I should start doing ...... because. Of the buzz lol hey whyare u looking for excuses to do it? And from strangers? Be a man. Do what u want and accept responsibility for your actions

Interesting thread!

I wouldn't suggest starting unless you're a smoker already, but it is your choice.

I just wanted to comment on the "Buzz" factor of e cigs. I can think of way easier and more fun ways to chase a buzz for sure, but I will say that since switching from smoking to vaping, I have felt the "buzz". Again I'm not advocating these ecigs as an intoxicant or anything, but there is something about the pure nic in non smoke form that really perks me up compared to smoking. It's like that morning coffee, without the coffee breath.

Again just a thought, but I can honestly say I feel like I enjoy the nic intake way more from the PV then I ever did from smoking.

All that being said, I still don't think the op should do it.
