I just received my first 510 kit and in the instructions it said to charge the batteries for 8 hours. Will it hurt if I leave one plugged in at work overnight or should I unplug it at the end of the day and plug it back in the morning? Please help.
lithium ion batteries dont require a priming charge. just charge it until the light is green and its full. leaving them on for a while shouldnt hurt them but i dont do it, especially not overnight.
It won't hurt to leave it plugged in. I do it all the time. I don't know why these companies say charge for 8 hours. It only takes 2 at the most before the charger light goes green and when the charger light turns green it stops charging any way.
I leave mine plugged in and on charge...when the light turns green, which is usually a couple hours or less, then I change it out. I haven't had any negative effect for leaving either one in the charger for any amount of time. It's all good.
Well the instructions specifically tell you to make the first charge 8 hrs. I remember asking my supplier about it and he confrirmed that you should do it on the first charge. After that the 510 batts charge in about an hour or so. Now I just wait for the green light. All I can say is that I followed the manufacturers instructions and my batts work well and hold thier charge as expected.
I also confirmed that it's safe to leave them on the wall charger after you get a green indicator light. The wall charger has a switch to prevent overcharging.
I leave mine charging until I need them. I change out my battery (use only manual) first thing in the morning then go to work for 10 or 11 hours. When I come home I swap out the battery again. At bed time I swap out again. All this time there is one battery on the charger. At work I use the usb.
Like others, I keep one of mine charging overnight and will swap them out about every 2-3 hours during use all day long. Whichever one I use last before bed is usually the one I keep in the charger.
