I'm now trying the Virginia - and, yet again, it still just taste the same. It's not really a taste I'm familiar with, so I can't really describe it. It definitely seems like it shouldn't be tasting this way, so maybe it is just the atty needs breaking in. I hope, anyway. It's gettin' kind of hard to vape it.

I "wash" new atomizers in vodka to get rid of the crap they put on them at the factory - it ruins the taste (tastes kind of like grease).
Just swirl it around in vodka for a few minutes, blow it out, swirl it again and let it dry for a few minutes and you will be in business.
That's what I do, anyway.

Cleaning a new atty by washing it or vaping the hell out of for a little while (don't inhale), will help run the primer out of it. I agree, primer tastes and smells fairly nasty. If you wash, some kind of alcohol is good or something mildly acidic like water diluted vinegar or the coke/pepsi (phosphoric acid) bath. In all washings make sure you blow it out and let it dry before using it or the heat exchange will reduce its life.

So, I received my new 510 today - it works good. The only problem I have is that every damn flavor I have tastes the same except for menthol which pretty much overpowers everything.

Everything else has a sort of dark taste to it that isn't very pleasant.

Anyone else have this problem?

New today? ... shipping/primer fluid on the atomizers. You could blow out the atomizer or put it in some clear vodka for 15minutes and then blow it out, or just vape through it, puffing not inhaling and it will go away.

The 510 tends to enhance tobacco and stronger flavors and reduces the fruity flavors, but the 'not pleasant taste' is the shipping fluid.

I've noticed that too... the fruity flavors don't come out too well, but the more robust flavors like tobacco, RY-4, and Hilton all have a good flavor. The only fruity flavor that seems to come out pretty well in the 510 that I have tried thus far is Grape (highly recommend).

With the 510 I get most flavor by removing the cartridge filler altogether then directly dripping 2-3 drops e-liquid onto the exposed atomizer bridge..On the exhale be sure to include your nostrils as much more flavor will then be apparent.
It is possible that in addition to some atomizer fluid that you are vaping with some filler fiber contacting the atomizer and resulting in that 'dark' flavor you refer to.....I assure that the 510, with some experimentation in draw style and liquid handling, is capable of delivering great flavor.... I prefer to take loong slow draws and savor on exhale... good luck!

I often got a sorta burnt, nasty taste from my 510 when I first got it, even after I got through the primer until I ditched the poly filler. If you don't want to drip all the time - I don't - you should investigate the PTB mods for cart fillers.

Unfortunately, you'll probably have to give your atty a thorough clean, dry, and maybe a dry burn at the end to get rid of the flavor before dripping or a cart mod will help.

In addition to the Pyramid Tea Bag filler, some folks have found flavor success with natural wool (as opposed to stock polyfill).

The primer taste maybe? you need to soak/clean the atomizer and you need to stick with each flavor longer to get its flavor, use each atomizer for each flavor. And dont forget to drink a lot .Hope this help!

Welp... I soaked it, tested it, have been puffin' on it for the last few hours and it still has that awful taste. I can't seem to get rid of it. Gah!

Ok. Don't think anyone ask you this yet but where did you get your ejuice and what flavors are you using?

There was a batch of Dekang juice (largest juice producer) that was made from around the end of May to late August that had harsh tasting in almost all their juice produced during that time. In fact, if I didn't have the experience with other juice and was just vaping that particular 'batch' and it was consistent through many flavors, I may have been saying the same thing you are now. It was horrible stuff and others here (not all) agreed.

So what juice? Where'd you get it? and does it have "PRD" dates on the labels and if so what are they?

Maybe the bridge nylon is burnt.

Take a look inside the atomizer and see if you can see what looks like little, white nylon rope fibers sticking out from under the bridge.
Those will sometimes touch the coil and burn.
I removed all the nylon fibers from beneath the bridges from all my atomizers with pointed tweezers.

So, last night I soaked the atomizers in vodka and left them there over night. I woke up this morning, blew them out, dried 'em out for about 10 minutes, and gave my first liquid a shot. It tasted okay, still a bit on the odd tasting side.

So, I burned it out, popped in some menthol, and it tastes AWESOME! I think it's probably a combination of me having to get used to this new thing called "taste," and the atomizers being new and needing breaking in.

In any case, thank you all for your advice. It's helped out tremendously!
