Wait a few years and they'll have wireless power available - like USB but without the damn cable. Wishful thinking, and I'm not the most patient of people, but we have to have something to look forward to - there must be SOMETHING else we can do with this technology other than bigger batteries!

the need for better batteries has been holding the world back for years.. the holy grail of the laptop world is a battery that will last for an eight working day..

twenty years ago its was taken for granted that by now the better battery would have appeared.. but all with have is the lithium cell.. better but nowhere near what we all assumed would be here by now..

dreams are what folks look forward to.. they dont always come true thow..

I don't understand why they can't use powerful batteries or cells. Heck, make my classic e-cig twice as long if that's what needs to be done. But I do have to say the Sedansa long-life batteries really are long-life. Some of the other companies say that too, but it's not always true.

Hence Trog's screwdriver :thumb:

Having said that, I'm very pleased with the performance of my Janty KB Classic batteries. They last a decent amount of time, and I don't really notice any real drop in performance until the little light starts flashing telling me to charge it. Seems to work great from beginning to end.

PS. Trog, I made my avatar smaller - just for you :p

this thing isnt just about run time its about a capacity relative to discharge rate..

a screwdriver battery will put out ten amps for five minutes.. thats lots of power.. enough for ten e cigs at once.. giving the intermittent puff that might be an hours smoking for some..

there is a thing called C.. this is the discharge rate relative to the battery capacity..

so 1 C would be the battery taking a 1 hour of continuous discharge load before going flat.. these are perfect world figures.. in real life it would be less than an hour..

now 1 C is okay.. a happy battery.. its life will be long..

2 C is kinda okay.. its life will be acceptable

3 C isnt really okay.. the battery is groaning big time.. okay but on the edge..

4 C.. hmm.. too much except for very occasional use..

5 C early death for the battery..

6 C very early death for the battery..

an e cig battery is being discharged at 6 C..

run continuous we are talking about ten minutes max to go flat.. this is 6 C..

leaford did some run time puff count tests on these batteries.. he had the "long life" battery managing 20% longer than an average one.. i suppose on a relative scale 20% longer makes it a long life battery.. it aint long life on my scale thow..

people who think these things last long are ether very light users.. swap about between several devices all the time.. or simply away with the fairies..

a screwdriver has a discharge rate of around 1 C.. nicely in happy battery land.. it will last for months before dieing..

I agree, better power needs to happen, and I suspect it will. BUT, for my personal use, I don't have battery issues. BUT, that is more because of the patterns I'm using. I take a charger to work, and I recharge before the battery tells me to. I also keep 4 pen batteries on me at all times (plus my manual Janty batts). I know that doesn't change the design shortcomings of the current style(s), but I DO think it's admirable for a new technology. As trog hints at, some of us use these e-cigs WAY more than others. And I'm sure the initial design called for a cigarette looking device, which unfortunatly, (affordable) battery technology is not up to.

Thanks trog for your improvement efforts, thanks to the e-cig manufactures for starting this....movement, and thanks to the people selling them for their tireless support. And most of all, thank you to the internet designers for easy access to porn.

(Wait, I should have stopped one "Thank You" earlier huh?) LMAO

no but my battery powered hedge cutter comes a close second hehe

different battery technology kit..

lead acid.. bin around for years and still often used.. poor power to weight factor but cheap and reliable..

Nicad.. tough as old boots.. good for deep discharge power tools and stuff.. its hard to kill a nicad

metal hydride.. not as durable as the good old nicad but higher capacity and not so toxic.. easier to kill than a nicad by far..

lithium-ion .. very fragile.. can catch fire.. easy to kill.. we use it cos its got lots of power for its weight and size..

u wont find many power tools with lithium batteries.. they mostly come with tough as old boots low capacity nicads.. now ask yerself why.. he he

hedge clippers could be smaller and much lighter powered by lithium ion batteries.. they aint for very a good reason..

the batteries in yer hedge clippers are up to the job they have to do.. so they aint really being abused..
