Hi,

I picked up a 901 kit this afternoon and some juice.
It has the auto batteries and I also have an auto passthru battery. It only came with one atomizer.

It worked ok for a few hours. not a lot of vapor for the most part, but ok. now it appears to not be producing any vapor at all. The battery lights up, but no vapor. This happened after I refilled a cart. Just in case my newby self flooded it, I blew out the atomizer and there was juice in it. I'm pretty sure I got all that out... still no vapor. filled a new blank cart... didn't help. dripped a drop on the wick thing. no vapor.

I kinda think the atomizer is dead and I don't have a meter to check it. I'm wondering if I should be able to feel the atomizer get warm if I puff on it recurrently?

Any other suggestions for what to try?

also which atomizers should I order. the real 901s, the knockoff 901s or the other one that fits (RN4075 I believe)?

Since I'm on a budget, I think I'm going to order a Bartelby and/or see if I can make either the nicostick or mod a flashlight. Anyone know where to get a battery box with a built in USB port? If I do that, I wonder if I should go ahead and order some of the high voltage 901 atomizers.

On a sidenote is there any way to get a boolean search to work in the vbulletin search? All I can manage to get are ors or quoted phrases to work.

Thanks,
Betty

Welcome Betty....

First I think it's a sin to put only one atomizer into a 'kit'! One of the reasons I've never considered a 901 - although now some suppliers supply 2 attys. Sorry about your bad luck. If you get any warmth then of course there's still some life. You might try blowing it out from the batt end and trying it again with a known good battery. I'd stick with the DSE or RN attys. I have both of those and they work just fine.

Bartlleby is a good choice imo - low cost vapor machine. But there would be no reason to get hv 901's. First the 510 works fine on the Bartleby - there's no reason to get a 510 hv atty even - only on the 5 or 6volts and then you could just run a 901 regular atty on those - the resistance is close to the 510 hv's. If I were you I'd get the Bart in a 510 and also get an adapter for the 901/cartomizer at heaven gifts or altsmoke - that way you can run the 901 or cartomizers on it. The adapters work fine on the Bart and when I want to vape some Black Currant or other fruit I put on the 901 atty. When I want a good tobacco flavor and more vapor, then back to the 510.

I think you're going to have to go to cybervex for that built in usb port ;-) and I think you might even find it cheaper than to put one of those in yourself....

Thanks Kent.

It's still not producing this morning, so I guess it's dead.

yep, with all the reading on here I've done so far, the one atomizer concerned me as well. I also didn't set out to buy auto batteries. but the two kits I had to choose from locally (a 510 and a 901), the passthru in the 901 got me since the two seem fairly similar from what I've read and I'm at a computer most of the day.

Wow, just found the thread where cybervex was working on it and that is likely beyond me. I was hoping to find a stock box with the usb built in. I think I can solder a few wires, but I'm not electronics DIY geeky yet. :)

so an 510-901 adaptor and a couple of 901 and 510 atomizers. Do the 901 carts fit on the 510 atty or would I need 510 carts as well?

I can't believe how small both 510 and 901 carts are. I am a fish nerd, so I already have filter foam for modding the carts and plan to try that to increase their capacity.

Why would i want to go with the one piece cartomizers?

Thanks,
Betty

Betty,

Yes the 901 carts fit on the 510 and you wouldn't need the 510. 901's fit better but there are three types and some are tighter than others, but all fit.

Cartomizers can be refilled and the main thing of using cartos on the 901 and 510 is the amount of time vaping without having to refill. You can go a half hour with the carts and depending on your fill over 3 hours with one cartomizer. I have one ecig designated for that. I might up that to 2. But I don't mind refilling carts.

And you're right about the Janty Stick V2. I have a few of them but the only thing is there is the battery - while better (longer charge than the regulars and megas) it doesn't hold that peak power at 4.2v like the Bartleby/Protege, etc. the 14500 battery which is what most use in the nicostick I believe (although that would be a good poll to take) and the way that battery works with the 510 atomizer. Again, I have both and the difference in vapor and draw are striking. I have my Janty sticks set up with the larger 801 cartridge and atty and have my Black Currant and RY4 juices in them - the fruit tends to do better in the 801 (and 901) whereas the tobacco, coffee, cappuccino do better in the 510 - again, imo, with the flavors I have, a significant difference -as if they're two different flavors in some cases. But I'm a flavor guy. My wife likes Hilton and RY4 and that suits her just fine. I have 8 or 9 flavors going. lol.
