New and Confused

Hi all, I am an ultra noob to e-cigarettes. I have just started looking into them. I have been poking around the forum for a couple of days and reading the articles suggested in the “Great Info for new members!” thread. Needless to say, I am more unsure of what to buy now than before. So, I have a couple questions…

I keep seeing mentioned 510, 901 and couple other model numbers, at least I assume they are model numbers. If they are, what brand(s) are they?

I have been smoking Camels for almost 25 years now. So taste is pretty important to me. What is the closest vapor smoke to Camel? I ran across a thread the other day that had a review of a Camel e-liquid from PureSmoker (if I remember right), but I could not find it on their web site.

I smoke because I enjoy it and for something to do during breaks. Smoking is great for transitioning from one project to another. It’s not just the smoke, it’s the whole thing, taking one out of a pack, lighting it, smoking it and putting it out. But, I think I can adjust.

So, anyway. I’m here, I’m new and I’m lost on what to get and where to get it.

The numbers you posted above are model numbers. I started on an eJoy 510 and still us the attys on my new eGo. I can only comment on the 510 and it's a great starter kit and even for oldbies too :) I ordered mine from Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. . They also carry the eGo but the 510 is an easier price to start with. I can't comment on tobacco flavored juices. I don't vape them. I was a 28 year menthol smoker and I only like candy and mint flavored juices. I've tried the ry4 flavor but it made me sick. Whatever you decided to order make sure you get manual batteriesand plenty of juice to top off the cartridges. Order different strengths of juice because everyone's needs are different. A few spare attys is also a good idea.

This is just my 2 cents worth and I hope it helps. No matter what model you choose, it's better than analogs. Just DON'T buy from the kiosk in the malls! They're a rip off.

hey there. welcome to the forums!

the 510 is manufactured by JoyeTech.. there are a million companies that sell products that will fit a 510 atomizer for example.. if you want an experience similar to smoking to start off, i'd suggest a Joye 510 kit with a PCC. you can get a joye 510 with a PCC from Ecigmall.com for 51 dollars shipped (and he has fast shipping!). (or you could just get the regular e-cig kit without the PCC for 35 shipped)

The juices (e-liquids) are all subjective to taste..
https://strictlyejuice.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_38&products_id=113 Strictly ejuice has a camel flavor, and most "Camel" flavors you find online are chinese (Dekang) made juices.. nothing wrong with it.. I'd suggest that when you order juices from someplace, try and find some different flavors you might enjoy, such as thier camel, and maybe a few other tobacco flavors, and some fruitier or other flavors..

Because i was smoking camels and switched to marlb reds the past half year, and after I started vaping, i put down the smokes for two days, and then had one and it tasted like soapy water and tobacco leaves to me (not a good flavor!) heh.

Hi and welcome to ECF!
I have used the 510's, eGo's, 901, Mods & 201's just to name a few.
I smoked pack and a half for 31 years.

What I would suggest for a new person starting out is a 808 battery and Cartomizers, it is a 2 piece unit and about the easiest to use in my opinion.
Great vapor, great taste and if you buy the XL batts, you are good to go for quite awhile.
And in my opinion the Vapor king from V4L is by far the easiest to use.
It is a 2pc unit.
You can also buy 808's other places.

My next suggestion would be the 510 from Cignot, low price, nice vapor, good taste, but a little more of a learning curve. It is a 3pc unit.

As far as a good Camel flavor, I cant help you there...sorry

Hi Soren, I know how u feel and i guess most of the people arround this forum knows how u feel. I been smoking 25 years too, more than a pack a day - marlboro red.

My recommandation is eGo (Janty / Joye / tornado - they all the same). quite user friendly, great vapor production, Thick vapor. An extended battery version of 510.

And most important, dont give yourself time limit to quit cigarettes, smoke an analog whenever u feel like to or when your device is not performing well, take some time to read through those threads that might help you.

Just DON'T GIVE UP. Many great peoples here can help you anytime, even questions that u think is stupid to ask ... just shoot and promise u'll get your answers.

Wellcome and u wont regret.

Just as you I enjoyed smoking and was not that sure, if I really wanted to quit. The only thing I was sure of is I wanted to decrease the # of Cigs.

I have started vaping on March with Greensmoke (E9?), and unfortunately for me the experience wasn’t that satisfying (I spent my time on charging batteries and I did not enjoy the carts flavor). So I switched to V4L. I took the vapor king Ultimate ultimatum starter kit (808?? it has every thing you need in it)
Beside the flavors variety, V4L has the best customer service ever. I come from Switzerland where CS is very satisfying but the way V4L treat its customers is just Outstanding.

I quit smoking since March, and I must say that w/o the good quality product and the very proactive CS I would have fallen again.

hope it helps :)

The 510 puts out more heat than the 901 so it also produces more vapor however, the offset is less flavor on some liquids and much less battery life. I have tried both and prefer the 510 however, not everyone will. You will not get a direct answer no matter how long you search. It's just way to subjective. I would say the 510 is slightly more popular than anyother e-cig on the market. it's compatable with just about everything and you can find adaptors for almost anything as well.

the two peice systems with the cartomizers are easier to use if you are not going to refill. If you need to save money you will refill, so unless your made out of money it's not really an issue. plus you can now get the cartomizers for the 510 as well.

As for flavor, again it's way to subjective to get a straight answer on. But I will say this I know very few people who ever stick with the first flavor they try. So I would not suggest putting a bunch of money into a flavor until you have tried it first and maybe not even then because your taste buds will come back and you will adjust for that too.

These are the picks that I would suggest. But remember this is just what I would do.

R & R Vaporz has the best deal I have ever seen for someone who just want's to try it out. Disposable 510 kit- menthol flavor w/ extras - $12.00 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

Disposable 510 kit- menthol flavor w/ extras
$12.00
Disposable 510 kit includes: - One Disposable 510 battery - One Disposable 510 atomizer - One USB charger - Three 510 mint/menthol flavored cartridges Extras included are: - One 510 to 901/kr808d adapter - One empty kr808d cartomizer - Two empty 510 cartridges - One bottle of 4ML e-liquid (choose flavor and strength)

This lets you try out both types for super cheap.

I you are looking to jump right in with both feet, I would go with Joye Platinum eGo If you start with this kit you will be miles ahead of many of the e-cig users who have been at it for months. This takes care of the single largest problem that people have with the 510 which is battery life. If you are somewhere in the middle get the 510 no box.

Hi There and welcome to the forums...

To answer your question about flavors, I would suggest finding a seller that offers "sample packs". You get five (5) flavors in one package for about $10 - this will give you a chance to see what you like. The ones you do not like, you can always wash out and refill once you figure out what you like and where to get it from.

There are a number of suppliers on the forums if you look E-Cigarettes Suppliers Forum.

I can give you my two cents worth - try vapor4life - I notice they offer various tobacco flavors in sampler packs.

Good Luck and enjoy :)

Yep, it confusing at first. I like the Joye 510 myself and it works for me.

I used to smoke American Spirit non-filters and really enjoyed smoking. Those were the best tasting cigs.

I remember being confused and coming here. I looked at a poll and the most popular model was the 510. So I ordered it and some "camle" juice.

I could tell the 510 would work, but that juice nearly put me off. I ordered all kinds of tobacco flavors, in sample sizes, and was still disappointed. I tried one of those weird desert flavors that I thought was the stupidest thing I ever heard of... Wow! It worked. Finally a flavor that would satisfy.

So when you figure out if you want to go 3 piece or 2 piece, and what model you want, order some juice. Small sizes of different flavors and strengths. You might find a tobacco flavor that is a hit for you right away and you'd be in rare company.

Good luck and keep us posted on your path.

Hey there! I'm a newbie as well, although I've been vaping now since the beginning of April. After reading this forum for about 3 weeks, I decided to go with the 510 from Cignot. You cannot go wrong ordering from them. I absolutely loved it. I then ordered the eGo the minute Cignot came out with it. I find the eGo to be much more powerful than the 510 but I still use the 510 when I'm somewhere I think its more appropriate. I've gotten some strange looks with the eGo. I order all my liquids from Tasty Vapor and absolutely love their Tobacco flavor. Its what I use most of the time. I have Dulce de Leche and Buttered Rum as well and love those too but for occassional use.

I'm learning as I go here but you could not have found a more helpful forum anywhere. The posters here are incredibly knowledgeable and their willingness to share that knowledge with us newbies is something I"m quite grateful for. I have now been smoke free since the 14th of April and I feel better than I have ever felt, or at least that I can remember.

Welcome again..you are in the best place and I wish the best with this experience.

I started with the 510 and have been able to get 7 friends and family member to start vaping on the 510 atty although 50% are using the DSE-905 which uses a li-ion 14500 battery so it goes much longer between charges. My goal was to reduce analogs my result was a total switch to vaping.
Best of luck and welcome to the journey.

The strictlyejuice.com suggestion is a good one for trying samples of different flavors

I personally only smoked Winston and had to have Winston or nothing. But, I didn't like it so ...panic...now what? Tried the fruitys and colas and didn't like those either. Finally after trying too many different ones, I am happily vaping Hilton 18 mg.

Don't worry, what you are experiencing is normal. You may just find out that you like a different juice better than Camel.

ps. the best Winston I ever tasted was from myfreedomsmokes.com but I hate their shipping policies and packaging.

I'd have said the same as BradSmith except I'd then say get the DSE901 because flavor is more important. So you can see just how subjective this is even among 2 people who'd say the same thing about the different products.

The KR808D-1 cartomizer approach is a real simple 'vaping for dummies' type of approach that's also valid although I prefer my DSE901 over them.

Bottom line: If you get the Joye 510 or DSE901 or KR808D-1 you'll have a good solid PV device and lots of folks here who can help you.
