Hey Phoenix D! I am also new to this whole thing, I purchaced the ego C kit and have only had 1 cig today. I am a PAD Marlboro light smoker. I find that I am not using my other battery and I have the extra stuff for a second set up. I would be willing to send it to you to try if you would like. Deal is you have to send it back if it's all wrong for you. I just don't use it and think it would be nice for another new kid like myself to be able to test drive. :) I am in the Dallas area. I am now using a clearomizer thing (sp?) due to leakage, but I don't have an extra one of those. It's 5 bucks and worth a try. I can send it charged, but of course I only have one charger - 1 lasts me at least 2 days. I am a hands on kinda girl - I have to see it, try it and practice to learn. Best of luck and let me know! Side note - I haven't posted on any forums so I am also figuring that all out. :)

Thank you so much for the questions, ChaotikDreamz So I guess now I have figured out I am looking for something easy to draw on and exhale "smoke" and I don't have to sit at a table like a model train builder with a bunch of tools and paper towels and magnifying eye glasses. I am willing to wait a couple weeks if that's what I have to do, to get something less expensive that I would enjoy for a while (till I move up)....

I got a lil chuckle out of this because it's true :p

So basically you want to stay with carto's then which you can pretty much buy pre-filled carto's anywhere on the interwebs with a million flavors. Do remember carto's are going to be a lil tighter draw then tank/clearomizers. I have heard good things about V2 pre-filled carto's and Halo. But get a battery with a 510/ego you can use 510 threaded carto's on it and if you start to feel froggy you can leap into a clearo or tank and dripping atty's. So pretty much any of the batteries list above minus the tanks is a great start. I do believe there is quite a few kits that have pre-filled carto's with the 510/ego. This is where the interwebs will be yoru shopping friend. Also i seen a post earlier that was stated there's a few vape stores in your area. Never hurts to take a ride and talk to someone face to face and possibly try somethings out in person before purchase.

You will save money in the long run as long as you don't get that bug of "Oh! Look a new atty" open wallet :p def more money to be saved in filling your own.

PS. By all means take my info with a grain of salt. I am only 2 months into vaping myself but i think i have read and watched every vid on youtube. Then found this site and slowly working ym way threw the wealth of knowledge in here lol.

LOL Well Kellycat beat me to it. This is why I joined this forum, so many sweet helpful people.

Thank you guys for helping me as well, even as I lurked!

Well you are a fair bit closer to them, so shipping would be faster. Not to mention the juices I have are pretty niche flavors that not everyone is going to be a fan of, so it might benefit the OP to talk to us both anyways :)

Oh boy, now I feel like a person "who just wanted to learn to take a few pictures with my cell phone" and happened into "a forum on telephoto lenses and shutter speeds" LOL (steep learning curve!??!)

So when you say "battery and 510/ego are you saying something like this (I just googled 510 ego):
Joyetech 510 Starter Kits
or this?
Joyetech 510-T Starter Kits

I do *not* want something I can't draw in easily and it seems you're saying most "cartos" would be a stiffer draw than an atomizer? So it seems if I want to "enjoy" this hobby I *will* be sitting at that little table with the tools :-(

You know what, I have never even SEEN a person "v a p e" (autocorrect won't let me put the letters together!! lol). Not on TV, tube, nothin'! lol. Just had a friend who I only talk to pretty much on the phone (she has a new job and our hours are switched right now) tell me she had one, and I got interested, thinking of the possibilities. . .

I could not even begin on juices. I am just now able to smell and taste again- although it is changing daily, almost like when I was pregnant :) I have for vaping pleasure... ( All form DFWvapor.com) Broadstreet tobacco 24 mg, big berry burst 36 mg, melon margarita 18mg, Almond Amaretto 18mg, Handmade vanilla 24 mg. and a second almond amaretto 36 mg, all pg. (I get a random free juice every time I have ordered which has only been 2 times. I would guess, that he would likely want to start strong, but my hubby who doesn't smoke loves the vanilla ice cream. :)

Phoenix - You are going to have to try some flavors if you are serious, I can say the risk is worth it. The people here are so kind and helpful, they know far far more than me - good luck!!

The draw on a cartomizer will be a lot easier than what you're using now. It will tighten up over time as the coil junks up. They're considered a disposable item so when that happens toss it and break out a new one. The best way to use a carto by far is in a tank IMO.

SO YOU WANT TO USE CARTOMIZERS - YouTube

OMG, Hi KLEINE DAME ! <waves> I am glad I "lured" another "new-by" out of the dark to posting, lol. I would LOVE to try this, but I am now nervous. I am all into sending it back if it's "funky" to me too. Are you getting the same "satisfaction" from the v a p i n g that you got from the PAD marlboro lights? That's what I want. I want to...say I have started a movie on TV, and suddenly I want to smoke and have to stop it, go outside, stand around in the heat (cold in the winter), puff a few times, then throw half of it away and come back to the movie. I want to keep watching, pick up a....what do you call it?...and have a few puffs. I mean my life right now, I enjoy the smoking but not the "segregation". :p I mean it's MY house and everything but *I* don't want it all "stinked up".

And I "see" the value now that I've tried my first disposable today, but for heaven's sake, the SUCKING on that stick is ridiculous! I mean, yes, like sucking on a candy cigarette that you can't even eat if you get angry because it is "too much work". lol Well i am working up to my 15 posts I guess, in doing all this learning, lol, so I will remember you and Kellygirl's offers. I am so excited that I actually stopped reading the posts and signed on to ask this. I was so disappointed at the headache the disposable seems to involve

:toast:
Welcome PhoneixD,
A Noob myself, and wish I had known about places like this, when I took the "plunge".
The members here can knock some of the edge off the learning curve. Most have "been there done that".
All can point you in the right direction, the final decision.......

:2c:
Found out the hard way, cartos, disposables, good a a very distant "backup". Stiff draw, and locked into their "hardware".
Many of the responses have pointed you to "kits" that do not require a "...table and tools"
Started with the "Walmart e-cig" got frustrated and almost went back to the analog side. Started looking for a brick and mortar store,
and found the Joytech 510 T kit was 100 times better. Gave me time to find places like this.
Lurked, read asked a few questions, and discovered that something like this:
Kanger EVOD Starter kit
Was worlds better, easy to use, no muss no fuss, charge fill and go, no "table and tools" required.

You know what, I have never even SEEN a person "v a p e" (autocorrect won't let me put the letters together!! lol). Not on TV, tube, nothin'! lol. Invest in the hardware, and the rest is a cake walk. :D:D

You want a decent starter kit in this area. When a said 510/ego i meant joyetech started this threading called Ego which is the outside thread on a ego style battery. And 510 is threaded on the inside so you can use either or threaded atty's.

Electronic Cigarette Kits Including the Joye Ego Kit | Joye Ego Starter Kit | Joyetech Ego Products from LiteCigUSA!

But you defently want to have the bigger 650mah ego battery either from joyetech or one of the many other venders now. As it will last you alot longer the cig alike batteries.

i have a kanger E-smart Kangertech Esmart Black electronic cigarette

I love this lil kit but i need to swap batteries atleast once a day. So i am waiting for my ego style battery to get to me.

But with the ego style threading that excepts both ego threads or 510 threads you can easily use 510 threaded pre-filled carto's from which ever vender you perfer.

I hope thats a lil better explained. I tend to over complicate things sometimes sorry

Me:) I so feel your pain!! Smoking while being so fun and wonderful to me, has been a pain in the @#$. I will tell you my experience as yet, perhaps it will help. I say PAD but, it runs more. I did RYO organic as well to save a few bucks, but gov has made that a pain in the. I was introduced to this whole thing by my neighbor who has an ego T i believe - tank system I think (he claims to not have had to change atty's or do maintenance as yet). Vet's can clear that up. But he and his father smoked way more than me and claimed they had quit or were down to just a few a week. Of course I was interested. Tried a few puffs, thought ok. He came back with a dif flavor and I thought WOW. He left me with his old NJoy to try. Not too thrilled. Like you stumbled here.
I have to date with my 2 orders invested roughly $140 dollars. Ok now I have to do the math. I would have spent $130 on Lung darts. I am in the hole today 10 bucks, however I have the supplies to make it another month at least if I take care of my current stuff. Conservative estimate on that is $180 at least I would spend on cigs. I can see I might buy a another clearomizer thing, I quite like the one I have. I t has not leaked. Not that leaking is a big deal, you have to clean that puppy up refill and puff your way to happy.
I can smell, taste and it is beyond funny to my husband. I have a bit of euphoria now. I am not chained to the cig. I don't have to go outside. I don't have to smell. I don't have to stop in a tv show to go outside. I don't panic about running out of cigs, and that was truly a panic. I can now SMOKE anytime anywhere!! For those reasons alone it is worth a try. not to mention your body (in my experience so far) thanks you for it.

I tried an NJoy rechargeable when they were new to the US and thought I had just thrown away $100. Like you, it was a horrible experience and very, very similar to smoking a candy cigarette. I gave it away just so I wouldn't see it and be reminded of the $100 I wasted. Fast forward 3 1/2 years and my brother-in-law shows up with a Joye Ego C Twist type system and is producing mounds of vapor. I good barely, barely get a candle snuff out of my original NJoy but I tried his (blech on the tobacco taste--I'm a mint, cinnamon & fruit person all the way) and could see the possibilities if the flavors were available. He assured me the flavors were endless and I am a very, very happy vaper now. I still have to smoke an analog if I'm having a very, very bad day--got fired for the first time ever in my life & then the ensuing stress of getting paid but 4 analogs in a month is way less than the pack a day I was doing before I got my setup. I don't care that it doesn't look like a cigarette & probably because of my poor first experience with a cig-alike; I would have been less interested if my brother-in-law had shown up with one of those. My son tried the new generation of skinny cig-alikes (V2) and said they are ok but he much prefers the new mini tanks they just released over the original cartridges (cartos).

My thoughts for you - I would give it a whirl, why not - one of us can send you a "trial" for free. However, DO NOT give up if that trial is not perfect - Austin is a fantastic city, I know you can find a shop that can hook you up as well. We tried the convenience store ecigs on my dad, no go. Had we had access to what is now available (better said what I now know is available) it could have been a different story.

For the record, I am not a "you have to quit" I did not start with that expectation for myself. I am only going to try something else and see the possibilities. We all have a story.

Also I just noticed another comment in here about 'sitting at a table with tools' if you don't use pre-filled cartos. That's really only true if you get into RBAs and do-it-yourself liquids, neither of which are anything close to a requirement for an enjoyable experience. I sent a friend of mine my old Volt cigalike batteries with some 'mini' clearomizers (plastic tanks), and a syringe with two bottles of juice. That's all you need, you can refill on the go in five seconds if you don't mind carrying the needle with you, or just use a bottle with a drip/needle tip on it. Someone above posted a great diagram of filling tanks, it's literally just 'tilt tank, tilt bottle, squeeze until full' and generally mess-free.

Can't recommend a good clearo enough over cartos, it'd be worth trying one at least for a few days and see what you think.

Wow i need friends like you 2 ladies. My friend only said here hit my ego twist and that was it lol. And been on my own since. But as others have said sadly it is going take a few dollars to get what you like and as far as you want to go. But i can say once you find it you won't go back. But there is alot of info and experimenting just don't get frustrated or give up.

Once i got my first starter kit i was happy happy happy and haven't smoke a cig since. No urge no wants nothing.

Concerning the fear of going back to analogs aka stinkies aka cigarettes; I found that the cinnamon flavors produce a throat burn similar to smoking. Also, don't worry about occasionally smoking a "real" cigarette. It's too stressful to think that way. Find a flavor or 2 or three that you like and keep switching them up. Buy at least 2 but preferably 3 or 4 different tanks and keep the different flavors in them. Swapping around when you get tired of one or vapor blocked. I don't know if anyone mentioned that but you'll have a spell where you can't taste anything and will have to "shock" your tastebuds back into working or wait for them to come back. That's where I got the idea to carry around 3-4 different heads with different flavors.

Yeah, that's vaper's tongue in action, I carry a small bottle of straight-up menthol, not even in a tank or anything, just diluted with some water, and take a swig of it (spitting if possible). Clears it right up most of the time, as does staying hydrated in general. Thankfully it seems to be a rare-ish occurrence, at least for me, and only happens if I'm not drinking enough clear fluids.

ETA: Having a cinnamon hard-candy like Red Hots or something may also clear it up, and doesn't require a glass tank dedicated to a cinnamon flavor that may or may not be used 99% of the time.

I am a newbie too. I tried Blu a couple of years ago, and it work ok for a while, then gave up and went back to analogs. Had NO IDEA there was anything else. My friend called 2 days ago and told me about her new ego. She couldn't stop talking about how great it was, even though she described it by saying it looked like a tire pressure gauge -lol. I went to a vape shop today (3 days ago I didn't know that such a thing existed). They were SO helpful and explained so much (it really is like a whole new language). Bought my 1st today, so wish me luck!!

I am glad I came here. I appreciate you speaking up too! I just Googled "Vape Austin" and found several vape shops, and this one looks really sweet:

Phoenix Vapor Shop - Crestview - Austin, TX
I think I will be there tomorrow at 10:30 am!

I really also identified with this comment:
"I am not chained to the cig. I don't have to go outside. I don't have to smell. I don't have to stop in a tv show to go outside. I don't panic about running out of cigs, and that was truly a panic. That is about the reason I would rather vape than smoke. Being a smoker is like being a prisoner, you can't smoke here, you can't smoke there, blah blah blah, and I am tired of it. I am looking forward to the flavored juices as well :) and will keep you guys up on what happens. I think I will rather do this and have someone show me how the "tire pressure gauge" (lol) works and be on my way again! lol
