New and lost taste and the inhale feel--What the...?

Hi folks,

New to the forum and glad I finally joined. I ordered a starter kit a few months back from Vapor Smiths and have been enjoying my cart's for here and there until I finally decided to go for the bucket kick. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago and stepping up the vaping...

Went to a local shop and got some great guidance from the staff there (CigNot--Hickory Hills IL. Bill is awesome). Anyway, bought some juices and have been vaping away for a week. Bought some blank carts and some Vision nanos to tide me over sampling some juices until I decvide what I want to upgrade to. Things were going great until tonight.

I'm running 808 stick batteries and put adaptors on them to run the Nanos and 510 carts. The Nanos have worked great until my crisis tonight. Batteries all fully charged, switched to some new juices (100%VG) and I've got great vapor but NO TASTE. Panicked, I see some posts noting that the taste buds head south sometimes. I'm still worried. I can get an inhale, but can't feel it at all. I know I'm getting it because I can exhale with the amout of vape I usually can get from an exhale before this began this evening. Went and grabbed some of the pre-filled carts to try them. Same damn thing. Great vapor but no taste and couldn't feel the inhale even though I was able to exhale. I did have a cart with some pomegranite juice I had put in it that I got the taste off of but couldn't feel the inhale feel or throat hit.

I am perplexed. Are my batteries taking a turn south? For reference, I have smoked at most 5 cartos off of these batteries each (I have three of them), and about three fills of the Nano.
Two of the batteries produce--- 4.5V 190 mAh battery
The third battey is an auto VS XL--- lists as also producing 4.5V

I just don't get it. Beyond frustrated as this was my first day cutting back significantly on the analogs (Was at 10 cigs for the day compared to the usual pack, pack and a half). Needless to say, I'm going outside to chain smoke the analogs. Hot damn...and I was rolling and psyched at my progress for the day...arghhhh.

What in God's name went wrong?

You're still smoking analogs. First time I tried ecigs(when I still smoked), I could taste it at first..but then it was no more. Honestly, aftfer you quit smoking..its going to take a minute for your taste buds to heal. Just be patient..I don't think anything is wrong with your gear and specs. I think it has to do something with still smoking analogs. Congrats on the cutting back, though:)
Maybe I'm missing something..but that's just my two cents..plus its like two in the morning so forgive me haha. Good luck, though! I'm sure everything willl go back to normal soon.

The problem you have has happened to me. A few times actually. As best I can tell, this is your brains re-set feature in action. My first taste phantom happened around two weeks off analogs. It lasted two days. The next one was about two months. It lasted just over a day. The third and final one happened about eight months in. It was less than a day. Some folks say theirs average one day. Some more.

The other thing you should do right now, and from here on out, Hydrate. Very important when you vape to make certain that you up your water intake. Most people don't realize just how much vaping dehydrates us. Drink water or whatever you like, just drink more than you normally would, the lack of flavor will go as easily as it came. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

My experiences so far with the 100% VG have been great. Keep in mind the cartos from VS I had gave me the same feel today as well as the VG juice one I put together with a blank. I couldn't tell you what the VS pre filled cartos are (PG or VG). I can say that the VG juices I just started using were giving me everything I wanted. TH was fine and the flavor was great on the juices I smoked (I have an understanding of the differences, the debates on the two, and have read about and learned the ins and outs from reading the forum here). What was enjoyable earlier today changed tonight...significantly. From great to nada. I knew it was all screwed up when the pre-fill VS carto did the same thing. Heck, I just came in from the analogs and I couldn't feel the inhale on those much either. The funny part is I feel fine. Maybe I'll be hacking up a lung in the morning and it is muted now because I'm on such an emotional excitable high from psyching myself out about cutting back today. I'll do all that you say here. Hydrate, wait unpatiently patiently (lol) and stick with it.

You've got vapor's tongue. It happens to all of us.

I will recommend that you be sure to exhale some of your vapor out of your nose. Our sense of smell is very important in helping us recognise flavors not only with food, but from our e-cig juices. You'll understand what I mean if you recall how food can taste when you have a bad cold. The nose isn't able to detect the aroma molecules in the air because of the nasal blockage. So let your nose give an assist to your damaged tongue.

Is this the first 100%vg you have used? I find the more vg the less flavor and th. In fact with 100% it seems mostly nonexistant. Of course ymmv.

Yes, there are no absolutes in vaping. 80% of my flavors are 100% VG, and they all have great flavor, you just haven't found the right juice vendors yet.

Vendors like Virgin Vapors, Dripeez, and Vaperite have 100% VG juices available that utilize all-natural, all-organic flavors that have the most flavor of nearly any vendors that I have tried. Of course ymmv. :p

+1 on drinking lots of water and (sounds funny) but brush your tongue. VG does reduce flavor & TH in favor of more vapor, but if you're tasting nothing you're probably in the "blah" zone. Good thing is, it goes away and stuff tastes good again. I switch flavors pretty regularly (probably twice a day) and have a rotation of ~10 favorites because if I vape the same flavor too long it just feels "subdued".

Im going through the same thing as you. I just dont vape or smoke for the time being. Started vaping about 3 weeks ago and now i dont have a urge to do both if i dont want to. But sure sucks having so many juices that i can vape. This week received juices from hhv , virgin vapors... and got my new mod with rba. So dont worry, everyone tells me we all go through this. Just sit tight ;]

Always good to give an update...

Back in the saddle. All is well. Cut back more on the analogs. Still at 8 a day, but I'm moving along. The usuals times are the rough ones. Wake up, drive to work, drive home from work and after dinner. I'm close to giving up a few more.

I've got all the tobacco flavors back, but the fruity ones are giving me a difficult time. Everything tastes...sweet, and undiscernable from each other. All but the Pomegranate...yummmmm

Personally for me I do find that using the nose exhale really does help with the flavour. I do a half nose half mouth exhale most of the time. If I find I'm not getting enough of a throat hit I add just a bit of menthol to the tank and it gives me that bit of kick its missing.

It's all about experimenting and figuring out what's best for you but so far those 2 have worked for me.
