Basically I need to know what are the best "brands" I should be looking at are. I do not know what all this 501 801 RE234 stuff means or if its interchangeable through suppliers but basically, I want something thats going to be reliable, give me the best quality, etc.

Lastly, I used to smoke newport lights, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me who had the best menthol flavor or the closest tasting to newports methol out there.

Help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Lashes. You're going to get plenty of opinions and recommendations as to which is best or better. Read as much as you can and then form your OWN opinions. Lots of us use the Joye 510. Personally, I like it because of the tremendous amount of vapor and the reliability. Downside? Battery life is short. See? Already you've got one opnion. LOL Seriously, do some research in the FAQs and the forums here. Again, welcome and ask all the questions you wish. Most everyone is more than willing to help. You've already made a wise decision, to quit analogs.

Lashes, I am also still pretty new at this- I didn't go with any of the aformentioned models you listed for various reasons- But, we all have ourreasons why the ones we choose fit us- There is a slew of info here on all of the main models and you will find some of the not so popular models too. Suppliers, models, liquids, mods, etc-
A couple of Suppliers have what is called "Nuport" and it is supposed to be similar.. I used to smoke Newports as well but then in an effort to quit went to Doral Menthol Lights 100's-... I am just starting to get into liquid refilling... I don't have any Nuport yet but will get some soon- in the meantime, I have mixed up my own blend and it is so very similar, I am now able to vape w/o really feeling I am missing my cig (I had this problem up until yesterday)...
Again, Good Luck with your choice, I just received my unit last Friday- Great unit, great supplier, I couldn't be happier! I chose the Dragon (M401) & it was not the first unit I looked into buying... various things led me to choose it and again, I feel I made the right choice. Keep reading and scanning posts
I don't know how to link a post in a post yet but there is a post on this section by Deadcat> "A Primer for Buying and using E-cigs" - Not exactly quoted but that is almost the name of the post... among many others
AND don't bypass the "sticky's"- those posts at the top of a board that you can not move, and some you can not post to- BUT, a wealth of info!
Keep browsing and keep asking questions!
& Welcome!

There is no simple answer to your questions. You can read my blog for my early experiences. But my tastes and needs probably will not match yours. The best advice I can give you is to read read read. Starting with FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions About Electronic Cigarettes

I know its a headache and frustrating but no answer fits all and the tech is new and constantly changing. And your needs will probably change over time. The one thing I can say about brands is that you probably should NOT buy a "NAME BRAND" as your first as most are ripoffs. Check the Models thread in the faqs and buy a numbered version of whatever type you decide on. You can get a starter kit for $40-60 of any of these.

I don't know how to link a post in a post yet
Simplest way to insert any link is to open in new tab, drag address bar icon to your reply tab and drop in reply box.

Ok man Ive just been reading and stuff for the past like 8 hours LOL i should be sleeping...

Anyway I think im gonna go with the 501 + nuport drip method. I think i have a pretty good understanding of what everything involved is for, how the mods work and what they are, what the attys are, how to keep them clean, where to get the good high voltage drips and everything... I'm pretty good at this internet stuff, I am a web developer / IT systems engineer after all :p

Its just funny to me, at first i felt like one of those computer illiterate people I'm usually helping at my job because this technology was all greek to me when I made this post. I feel like I'm half way to a pro already and I havent even gotten my first pv yet!

Anyway... what sparked all this was my local mall I had a runin at a smoking everywhere kiosk.......... and man am i glad i did not give them any of my money!

w00t!

If you're going with the 510 (it's 510, 901, 801... ;-) since cignot is out of stock, and you want Nuport anyway.... go here:

Joye Tech 510 Kits

On the starter kit you can chose two flavors in 6ml bottles. Although since you want Nuport, if I were you I'd just get a bigger bottle of Nuport here:

HIGH VOLTAGE Liquid 12Mg 30ml Plastic Dropper Bottles

That is at 12mg nicotine which can be a bit light... but the flavor is enhanced. Or here:

E- Liquid 30Ml 24Mg Strength Plastic Dropper Bottle - NHaler

That is 24mg nicotine.... or get both and mix them if the 24mg is too much. I vape from 8-18mg usually.

If you get the big bottle of NuPort then you can try out a few other flavors in the dropdown on the starter kit. And with Drew's juices you really can't go wrong, imho.

Other choices:
510 Elite Kit

This is the starter kit, minus one juice, plus a PCC (personal charger case) where you can charge the internal battery (4 hour charge) disconnect it, and go. It allows up to 5 charges of your ecig battery while you are out. IOW, 5-10 hours of vaping on the go - ymmv.

You're going to have to find juices that you like and the best way is with 'starter kits' rather than spending $10 per 10ml bottle, get Drew's samplers - 6ml for $4. Here:
HIGH VOLTAGE SAMPLERS 12Mg 6ml Plastic Dropper Bottles
That's 12mg nic juice... or here:

Samplers 6ml 24Mg Strength Plastic Dropper Bottles - NHaler
That's 24mg nic juice.

Drew's 'Menthale' is his strongest menthol. 555 menthol I find the least strong, imo, although the mint usa tobacco is also good light menthol with tobacco base.

Another good 'Newport':

FS Deluxe Nwpt Refill Liquid - freshsmoking.com

510 starter kit there too...
Joye Dura-C 510 - freshsmoking.com

PCC:
Portable Charging Case - freshsmoking.com
Passthrough - no battery charging - but your hooked up to the computer or a usb wall plug or a car plug. Saves on batts when you're stationary:
Joye Dura-C 510 USB Passthrough - Black - freshsmoking.com

Another good vendor:
Widow's Beadwork

She also has the starter kit, PCC, passthrough, juice and take a look at the special deal section.
Widow's Beadwork

yes yes i've already been all up and down drews site and am placing my order with him in the morning! thanks!

Good! I'll tell you what - you can and should read all the faq's here, but it will all mean so much more once you have something real in front of you in order to associate with all the 'talk'. And it really wouldn't matter that much what you got - although I think you made a good choice - actually having the thing in front of you can help a lot.

Although you didn't say, I gather you didn't already spend $169 at the mall or kiosk. That's a more expensive lesson.
