New and need help!

Hi guys, been reading the forum for about 3 weeks and that is about the same time my wife and I quit analogs.
I've been looking over all kinds of stuff and have learned a lot.
I've tried to search forums for this but did not come up with anything.

Have a couple of things I was wanting to get some input on..
First off, my set up is Elego Twist that is variable voltage.... I vape on 4.3v usually.
My tank is the iclear 30s.
I vape maybe 2-3ml a day getting off 1 pack of analogs a day.
My local shop is Good Life Vapor, which is right around the corner so I use all their juices.

Question: I was looking at the info about "vape tongue" because my favorite juice is Deadly Sin from GLV and started to not taste like it used to... the cinnamon yellow cake buttery goodness!
So I started to drink a lot more water... May help a small amount.
Change flavors daily. May help a small amount.
Lemon juice. Not working
Brushing my tongue more. not helping.
The other GLV I alternate seems to still give me the tastes it is suppose to be i.e. Orange Blossom and Melon Boba.
I was thinking is may have been because it was fresh juice they made when I went up there. Have let it steep for apox 2 weeks.
Still haven't gotten the flavor I loved so much.
Tried my neighbors Deadly Sin and same lame taste.
Any thoughts?

Question: Maybe the taste difference is the iclear 30s replaceable clearomizer needs replacing/cleaning?
Like I said I change flavors daily. I use different coil/wic for each different juice.
When I change flavors I put the coil/wic in a ziploc bag when not in use... Ya think this is a bad thing?
Vape outputs have not decreased.
How do I know when they need to be changed?

Lastly, Has anyone tried to clean the iclear 30s cartridges? I see steps for the 30 but not 30s.
As y'all may know the wick are enclosed in a mesh like cartridge.
Any input on how to clean those?

How long has it been since you replaced the coil for any of the flavors? Cinnamon is hard of atomizers and will kill the coil a little quicker.

I also LOVE goodlife and Deadly Sin. I can tell you I HATE the way it tastes in an iclear30. I dunno why but - it tastes different/bland/odd. It only gets richer with steeping, but I can say I get occasional vape tongue/ olfactory exhaustion from vaping it 99% of the time. lol. I can taste other flavors and just BARELY taste my deadly. I either give it a break a few days or I found if I switch to Supersonic (sour grape/ Sour cherry type flavor) I can vape that and taste the deadly again (albeit sometimes only a temporary/short term fix). Dont worry - whether you give the deadly a break or find a really strong different flavor - the taste will come back.

I also have the melon boba and that just isnt enough to relieve whatever it is that happens with the olfactory senses. My understanding is they kind of get overwhelmed having flavor X pretty much all the time.

Welcome to ECF! Sounds like you're well on the path!

My first guess would be it's time to replace the coil/atomizer. The typical symptom is less vapor production and/or less taste, but sometimes it just turns on you for a nasty flavor. Also, be aware that I've seen at least a few failed coils out of the box, they're cheap-o units that sometimes aren't perfect. That's one of the reasons I got into atomizers I can rebuild...so I could control the quality and quickly/cheaply replace them as needed.

I'd also share that I've experienced a number of juices so far that have just changed on me. I don't think it's the juice, it's me. I like it one day and then the next, it's the most hideous thing. Or, I don't really care for a juice and then try it again a bit later and wow...it's good for some reason. Your tastes will change quite a bit on this journey, you've been killing your taste buds for quite a while and things change when they start coming back.

Also, I'd add that cleaning your coils is important. I use Everclear to get a pretty good cleanse, but even then, sometimes that's not enough for strong flavors. Strong flavors will influence future fills, which can be a good thing or a really, really bad thing sometimes. In that case, I just rebuild since it only costs a few pennies and a few minutes of time. Traditionally, cartomizer style tanks aren't very good for rebuilding, so that's definitely something to think about for the long term. Different flavors will have different lifecycles on your coils...some will last a week+, others maybe only a day. I just go by taste...when I start to notice it fading or changing too much, I replace. Sometimes I find it's the juice or my tastes, sometimes it's the coil...but life's too short to taste things that aren't as good as they could be!

Actually - small addition to the first post - do you have an ohms meter? and were you previously using it in a different tank?

I have vaped for about 10 months and get vapers tongue all the time. I too have tried all the suggestions offerd here with no luck. I think some of us are just prone to loosing our taste buds. When it does strike I just fill a tank with a less favored juice and vape away until my buds return.
As for the iClear30s, I run mine under very hot water then give it a good soak in vodka. Dry thoroughly. Good as new.
Cinnamon needs a dedicated atomizer. I have one that is ONLY for cinnamon.

I don't use the same coil everyday, same one maybe 3 or 4 times a week and they are apox 3 weeks old.
I do store them in ziplocs without rinsing them.
I just can't find good info on the 30s coils.
When need changing do they just not produce I wonder?

If it doesn't taste bad or burnt but more like nothing, probably the old vaper's tongue. Even new folks get a case of the vapers now and then.

For me, every hit after those first few of the day tastes less and less like anything. Some say jalapenos fix ya up. I love 'em and the good ones burn the hell outta me, but never seem to do much for reclaiming the taste buds. I need a tongue transplant already anyway, you can practically blend concentrated flavors right in my mouth and I wouldn't even know it. Good luck and good to meet you.

Deadly Sin was so good that it was the cause of me actually sticking with quitting smoking. The 3 weeks have been the longest I have been totally cig-free the 15 years I have smoked. I need it to come back!
I even went to a bar they smoked in last weekend and drank a beer. Had the urge to smoke but didn't give in. Just vapid the Orange Blossom all night heavily!

This is the only tank I've had. No ohm meter.
I rinse with water and a paper towel between flavors.

As for the good soak... are you soaking just the tank or both the tank and cleromizer?

If it isn't the coil and your other flavors taste the same then it's not vapors tongue.

It may just be your tastebuds changing the further you get from your last analog your taste buds will change drastically. And some juices you loved in the beginning won't be something you like anymore.

The citrus and cinnamon flavors will stick to tanks. About you drinking more water, that could be a reaction to the VG. It is metabolized as a sugar and may be causing your thirst cravings.

Well, Mikey - I would give DS a break for a week and revisit it. Like I said, I get some sort of vape -tongue just to that flavor as it is my 99% of the time vape and all other flavors taste just fine. You may explore it in a different clearo. As you are closing in on a month your taste buds are returning and healing. Try something super inexpensive like the Doscount vapers own brand BCC clearo (DV BCC Clearomizer - Smoke) that way - in the worst case its only 3 dollars wasted - but I am telling you I no longer use Deadly in an Iclear30 (and it is the ONLY flavor I have experienced this with) it is very muted/bland - other flavors are fabulous in it. Keep us posted!

I clean my iClear30S in an ultrasonic cleaner. I dismantle it and soak it in the cleaner for 24hrs with 91% or higher alcohol. The cleaner runs in 3 minute cycles so I crank it on periodically during the 24hr soak. Then, I rinse the parts well in hot water and place them in a toaster oven set on "warm" to dry it out. I'll occasionally feel the poly-tube to make sure it's not getting too hot. I can usually do this for a month or two before I need to replace the head.
