Hey guys, so I started vaping a week and a half ago to quit cigarettes, I started with an e-leaf 50w and quickly ugraded to a Sigelei 75w with a Hercules tank. Now none of the juices I have taste right, I even just changed my atomizer and primed it just as the guy showed me but instead of getting the nice peach flavour I had before, I'm getting almost a burnt popcorn taste. It isn't the same "burnt coil" taste I had with the old unit so I don't know if that's the case or not. Any help Or advice here?

Did you start at low wattage and break the coil in before firing higher at 40watts?

Anytime you put a new coil in, always prime the coil, take a few puffs without actually pushing the button, and start low(12 or so) and take a few puffs then go up by 5 or so watts until you reach your sweet spot.

@Elizabeth Baldwin
I did prime it as the guy at the vape shop showed me, took 4-5 puffs before pressing the button and started at 20w before going to 40w

I'd say you have a short or a hot leg then. Take the tank section off and fire the coil with the cotton in, if anything turns red you have a hot spot.

I'm sure you have moved on from this by now, but the hercules using Stainless Steel coils if I remember correctly. They are entirely safe at the power you are running them. The thing to keep in mind with Stainless Steel is when it heats up the ohms will change. That is 100% normal. That is why the ohms change. It's like nickel, but not as drastic a change. Some mods now even do temp control with stainless steel wire. The problem is it doesn't change enough to be accurate, but it does prevent burning the cotton for the most part. As stated if you are running a high VG then the coils may not be wicking fast enough. The burning feeling is usually a slight burn of the wicking material. Try taking a needle or paperclip and breaking up the filler inside the wicking holes. This will help the juice flow better. If you over-do it then you can have a problem with leaking, but generally speaking this will work very well. You can try a thinner juice just to see if you are scared to damage your coils.
