It's possible the battery went bad and isn't holding a charge. I take it you are vaping it on passthrough? You may need to replace it, unfortunately. What type of charger do you use?

Cell phone charger . For house. I was using the cord that it came with but it's not a long cord

I am not familiar with the device that you are using. However, have you tried cleaning the part where your topper connects to the mod? Dip a qtip into some rubbing alcohol. "Wring" as much alcohol as you can out of the qtip, and go over the connector. Get down into the recess where the pin is. Gently. Use the dry end of the qtip to dry up any excess alcohol.

It could be, as others have said, that you just plain need a new battery. However, it cannot hurt to try cleaning the connector, just in case there is some gunk built up. I would also go over the bottom of the tank the same way.

Good luck.

Also, if you have a spare usb cord, or can get one easily, try a new cord. I thought my CoolFire IV had finally died - it will be 2 years old at Christmas this year - several months ago. After I had ordered another mod, I decided to try another usb cord. Lo and behold, the issue was the cord, not the CoolFire.

Hi and welcome to the board. You say you've had it "for a while" but not how long. I suspect you've simply exceeded the internal battery's life cycle. They do go out after use. If so, there isn't going to be any way to fix that. Oh, an electronics tech who knew what they were doing and had an appropriate battery handy could do it. But if you had to buy the battery, it would be cheaper to buy a new mod as the manufacturer can get the batteries by the thousands a lot cheaper than you can get one of them.

The bad cord/bad charger idea seems to me to be unlikely as if I read your post correctly the machine works well when plugged in and not otherwise. This sounds to me like a battery problem.

Sorry for the bad tidings and welcome to the board.

I concur. The battery's no good anymore. If the device is still working when connected via cable (called pass-through), it might serve well as a backup.

Welcome and glad you joined.
It's a bad idea to use a "cell phone charger" with any vape equipment unless you are very familiar with the subject of AC/DC current charging. It's best to buy the manufactures brand charger for that vape equipment it is intended to be used. I believe you have permanently damaged your internal battery. It's true that some cell phone charges may work on some vape equipment, but you really have to know what the specifications mean/what to look for. I have read about scores of members making the same mistake, so don't feel to bad, your not are alone.

But, it's fine to use the cord that comes with the mod attached to whatever power source, am I correct in this? For example, I have a fairly high powered cellphone (box) or whatever it's called that attaches to the wall, but if I use the charger that goes with the e-cig battery, it will only pull the amount of power required for that battery?

I genuinely have no idea, I just know that with the internal batteries I have, all of them come with JUST the cord, not the actual plug that attaches to the wall?

Sorry I'm being incoherent, this is something I've wondered about personally.....

Anna the way I understand it is the wall wart doesn't matter the device will only draw as much power as it needs. A lot of recommendations say go a little higher because it's easier on the wall wart ie. if you need .5 go for a 1 amp that way your not running it at max. Wouldn't use computer unless I had to something goes wrong could trash whole computer.

Agree. I never use my computer to charge my ecigs--I use USB cords that came with my mods plus a wall adapter. As for wall warts, this has been discussed here for years and there are many opinions on the subject. ;) Some say that amp rating doesn't matter, others say that it does. I prefer to stay on the safe size and use 5V/1A adapters for all my mods with built-in batteries (I have one made by Joyetech and one iPhone wall wart--same specs). Just MHO.

@Carrie40 I agree with the posters who say that the battery has seen better days. Those batteries are only good for so many full charging cycles, ~300 or so. Then they have to go. I know that battery technology is changing and improving, but we can't expect miracles from those tiny energy storage units--yet. Be safe. I understand that your budget is tight ATM, but you don't want to use old, possibly unstable batteries either--so close to your face. :)

Get a new mod as soon as you can afford one. Or sooner.
