Hi Marcy!
Welcome to the forum.
I think most of us here started with some type of disposable configuration to see if it was the right thing to do. I started with a generic e-cigarette at some gas station (unknown name, and haven't seen them since), to see if I would like it. At first it took a little getting used to, but after the first hand full of puffs, I thought it was pretty decent. I went for the Blu disposable, but at 9.95 a crack, I thought it was outrageously expensive. I started hunting around the internet for a "refillable" and cheaper method of trying e-cigarettes.
I searched various kinds leaning twoard the V2 and Halo setups and ended up with a Halo system. After a month though, I realized that there were still some shortcommings to that kind of setup. Both of those systems, and similar systems use a fiber inside of the cartomizer to hold the liquid. This gets heated up to produce the vapor. After a while, the fiber filling gets kind of funky and even though there's instructions and videos on YouTube on how to clean them, their life is very limited. If you like to try different flavors, you have a bigger problem as you will want to eliminate the old flavor before trying another flavor. By the time I calcualted things out, my expense on buying various fiber cartomizers would be adding up (not as bad as Cigarettes though).
I then saw some Joyetech eGo systems on sale on the internet and picked up an eGo T starter Kit (They now have the eGo C as the T is discontinued hence the sale price). The eGo systems work on a cartridge system. You fill the cartridge with fluid, screw on the battery and start enjoying the flavor. One of the first things I noticed going from a fiber type system to a cartridge is that the flavor was emense in relation to the fiber system. I really enjoy the cartridges!
The eGo T/C system is kind of large (more like the size of a cigar over a cigarette). However, Joyetech makes a great smaller type of cart system as well. There's the eGo eCab which is a smaller version of the eGo T/C.
One of the things you'll notice is everything gets modeled after the eGo system which Joyetech has invented and continues to expand upon. Therefore, if you decide to upgrade past the eCab system, much of your investment will carry through to your new expansion! You might also notice that parts of the eCab are interchangeable with eGo-C systems (atomizer heads, cartridges etc).
Originally, the Blu, Halo, V2 systems are automatic batteries. I have found the manual battery provides longer battery life, plus you have more control of the battery. The eGo systems also allow you to "shut down" the battery so the button doesn't draw power accidently which could either burn out an atomizer or drain the battery.
One of the things I enjoy about vaping is FLAVORS! You'll never get all these great flavors out of a tobacco product!
I know that it's a pretty hefty investment at first. Do your research and find what system you think will work best for you.
Most of all, once you make the switch to vaping over tobacco, you'll realize you won't need a tobacco product any more. You'll just reach for your favorite vape, kick back and enjoy!
