New Android juice calculator - Request for comments

Hi all, I've just put out the first public release of an e-juice calculator/logger that I developed. I'd love to hear some comments or critiques on its usefulness. I'm working on an update that'll include the option to mix by weight and will clean up the flavouring section a bit. I also plan on including a coil builder tool but that is a ways off.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...Thanks

I use eJuice Me Up and have been thinking about something for my tablet - so I downloaded your app and gave it a whirl.

I've only put one recipe in, but it does the job. I'd have a lot on my "wish list for the perfect recipe calculator" but if I compare this to what I'm using, the only thing I'd wish for is the ability to designate each flavor in a recipe as VG, PG, or other. I do have a few VG flavors, but the amt I would use is so small it's not a big deal to mark it as PG. So this is a very minor issue.

I wouldn't really use the other stuff in here - maybe others will appreciate those. But it looks like I may use the recipe calc - easier than carrying my laptop to the table, and doesn't take up as much space!

Thanks for sharing this!!

OK - downloaded and tried entering my first recipe. Excellent and this is something I have been looking for since I have all my recipes on my PC but mix in another room... so I always have to either print (when my printer decides to work! ) or take notes.

I am not so much interested in keeping a list of my hardware but a list of juices on hand, and possibly cost per ml, would be very handy so I don't have to enter the name of the juice with every recipe I enter. Of course this might already exist on your very handy app and I have missed it. If so, please point me to it.

That would probably be #1 on my (very wishful) wish list. This is how I would LOVE for it to work :

Enter my juice inventory into a database/spreadsheet "inventory manager", with names and quantity in ml
When entering a recipe, start typing the name and it will pull up, or select from a list
When creating the juice, hit a "Make it so!" button (haha - sorry, I've been watching STNG) to deduct the flavor quantities from inventory
When purchasing additional juice that I already have on the spreadsheet, have a button or function to "add quantity" instead of having to do the math myself

I know that this would be extremely difficult and/or time consuming to program though, so I don't expect it, but I can dream!!

So, no knocking what you've done -- your program looks cool, and I will probably use it next time I make juice! Thanks again!

I just D/L this and it's very nice. I seen others post on what they would like to have added and I agree. But that isn't a deal breaker for me. I wanted something to use on my tablet and glad I seen this post or I would have never known about it. You did a great job and now I can use my tablet instead of carrying my laptop to the table to make my juice. Great job!!!

I'm glad you like it and thanks for the feedback :) I did consider adding the capability of specifying PG/VG/Other for each flavor but I guess I got lazy... I do think it would be good to include that and probably will in an upcoming update.

I hadn't thought of this but it seems like a really useful feature that wouldn't be too hard to implement. I'll try to get it done for the next update. Thanks for the suggestion :)

I like the idea of an inventory management system... the little gears in my head have started spinning and I think I have a plan. It will be a good bit of work so I'll probably start with something like the suggestion from @Papillon61 for this next release and build on that to include the management features that you suggested for the following release. BTW, I love the idea for a "Make it so!" button... that will happen :) Thanks...

Wow! I never expected my "very wishful" wishes to be fulfilled! I KNOW that will take a LOT of programming (how many hours I don't know, but too many for most to consider it). Thanks for even thinking about it! :)

@starsight71 I don't think you need any help in this since you seem to be a professional whilst I just tinker with my excel spreadsheets with online help and tutorials - but what I have done with my spreadsheet is that every time I mix a recipe I enter the ingredients (copy & paste) as if I am issuing an invoice using SUMIF. That keeps track of my inventory and works out the cost of the recipe. As another step I have conditional cell formatting so that when any flavour goes below 4ml it alerts me to get more.

You're welcome! It seems like a good idea that a lot of people would find useful... how long it takes to get it all coded is an open question though

I hadn't thought of including a low inventory alert... that's a good idea.

I used this yesterday and it sure was nice having the recipe program on my tablet. I already have my recipes written in a notebook, but I decided last minute to change one that I had already entered into your program on the tablet. No need to grab a calculator, or go get the laptop -- I made the changes right there at my mixing table using the tablet. LOVE IT!
