here is a beginner video that covers the basics. Good luck, and be patient!

Ok, so :

I've never seen one of these before, so I'm looking for info for you now...
I can't tell from the picture if your "filter" part screws in or is open like a straw or closed like a mailing tube... what's it look like?
I can't find it on youtube...

All the parts screw together, the battery screws into the charger and then the cartomizer screws into the battery after it is charged. I will charge it while at work today. Not sure how long but I tried to charge it yesterday and the indicator light was green then red then back and forth so I do not know (but I assume) it flashes back and forth until it is charged.
Onward.

that link is not to their Ego product. i don't know what a 520 is, or how it's different than a 510. i'll have to do some investigation. that is a very confusing website. i really don't like vendors that take advantage of new buyers by swamping them with disorganized information. there IS a basic structure to the entire industry, and they seem to try to conceal that to take advantage of new people like THIS old fat guy, and oldfatguy! (ha)
