After spending a lot of money on different Vanilla Custards i decided to give DIY a shot. Please let me know if what im buying is correct. I wanna make one single batch and have nothing left over. My goal is to have around 500ml of vanilla custard at 6mg nicotine
This is what im planning to buy:
-250ml 100% VG
-250ml 18mg Nicotine in a 100% PG solution

How many MLs of Capella Vanilla Custard do i need to buy if i want 12% flavoring. Im calculating if i use all 250mls of nicotine solution + 250mls of the VG plus the flavoring i would have the juice at close to 6mg?

Thanks for the help!

For 500ml of juice you need 60ml of vanilla custard. But I would start with 10ml test batches to make sure it's what you wanted. It would be a shame to waste so much supply on something you may not like. Your target strength would be closer to 7mg strength

188.89 ml of NIC solution
250ml VG
60ml capilla vanilla custard.

= 500 ML's of 50/50 6.9mg e-juice.

If you want to learn how to DYI do some reading. Here's some recommendations.

My blogs will give insight into all aspects of DYI, from steeping to what supplies to have on hand to a basic walk through mixing your first E-juice.

Then read hoosier's blogs. These blogs concentrate on fine tuning your mix and give insight on additives.

Then read Boletus's blog's. These blogs concentrate on formulation of nicotine bases regarding proper calculations methods for figuring Nicotine concentration as well as safety.

Then read Ginger's book "E-Cigarettes 102: DIY E-Liquid". It is a book which I've contributed to that delivers an in depth easy to follow guide in the art of DYI.

I recommend viewing VPLive Vape Team Episode #82: DIY Safety and bookmark it for future reference. It explains safety in all aspects of DYI.

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

No - My amounts I just gave you are accurate. But if we're talking ballpark then 250 + 250 + 70 will be closer but NIC level will be a little higher (8mg) and the ratio will be approx 55pg/45vg.. Hope your not disappointed making such a big batch. As it ages the flavor will improve.

Cool thx for the info Dannyv45 you were great help!
I also noticed DIY is not as cheap as some ppl make it sound like. At check out with all of the mentioned ingredients with shipping included im getting $38.68 for 500ml of juice. I can buy 240ml of vanilla custard that i know i like for $36 at ITC.
I know its cheaper but i thought it was gonna be a lot cheaper...

Nvm i found a calculator online:

100% PG with 18mg nicotine 167 ml 33.4%
100% VG (no nicotine) 273 ml 54.6%
Water 0 ml 0.0%
Flavoring(s) 60 ml 12.0%

Is Capella VC pg based? Now im trying to figure out what my PG/VG ratio will be heheh

It's PG based.

Use 250+ 250+70 and that will be approx 55pg/45vg 8mg at 12% flavoring

Depends on where you buy and in what quantities. It cost me $1.35 per 30ml bottle to make VC that's because I bought 16oz VC, 1000ml of 100mg NIC and PG/VG by the gallon. I mix many different vapes so to me it's a huge savings after the initial expense of mixing tools and start up.

I highly recommend you make some small 5ml-10ml batches first, make a few different recipes at different percentages & find your sweet spot for your preferred flavor profile. After you make your test samples its imperative to let them steep for at least a week. Vanilla Custard flavoring, weather it be Capella's, TFA, FW etc. absolutely NEEDS steep time to develop, 21-30 days is best but at least 7 days minimum. When you first mix up a batch of Vanilla Custard it will be a lite yellow color, after steeping it will begin to darken. Once it turns a darker amber/orange color (typically around 21-30 days) that's when the flavor becomes really rich & mature, so I highly recommend you wait until that point to vape it. When it comes to DIY juice patience is definitely a virtue.
