Hello Vapers
This is my first try at DIY juice so I'm going simple to get the feel for it.
I'm using the ejuice Me Up Calculator.

Here are the figures put in

"Nicotine Strength e juice" PG80% VG20% 30mg that is whats on the bottle
Target nicotine strength 15mg
Amount to make 5ml
Flavoring "cotton candy" PG 50 VG50 it comes to 20%

Here is my questions:
What does the 20% stand for?
After my flavoring It asks for a percent for PG/VG am I adding those products in also?
From the calculations I am guessing that I am.

I'm a newbie all around and didn't know to order my nicotine in either PG or VG
So I ordered another bottle of Nicotine with VG at 56mg
I also ordered a large bottle of PG

I didn't send for the order until I'm given the ok that is what I should do.

I hope someone understands this I'm confused

If im understanding correctly that means you have 20% of flavoring in your mix you can change to suite your needs . Im new to diy as well but been having decent success made some awesome pina colada and awesome cola really like my test batch of white chocolate covered blueberry. the pg/vg mix on the calc just calculates how much of each one your goina want in your mix I.E. if your goina make your juice a 70/30 mix with 15 mg nic and 20 % flavor. it will calculate
2.5 ml nic juice
1 ml pg
.5 ml vg
1ml flavoring
for a 5ml size
in my very short time experimenting with diy and reading the diy forums i would start out not using nic juice till you get the flavor % right start with 5% or so (some flavors are super duper strong) and keep goin up till you like the taste then make a batch following the same recipe with nic juice that way you dont waste the expensive stuff. You should be ok with the nic juice you got unless you wanna make a high mg high vg juice

Also i read on a post somewhere that you can go to a local farm supply store and buy gallons of pg (usp grade) fairly cheap i believe he said it was ace hardware i dunno im goina go to attwoods (chain farm and ranch store in my neck of the woods) and see if they have any usp grade pg and find out soon. Also i read that you can increase the th buy adding pure grain alcohol (everclear) i didnt have any everclear handy (cause im not crazy) so i tried it with vodka and it does seem to increase the th. again im new to diy as well so im also learning as i go

this post has a lot of helpful info http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-already-getting-discouraged-please-help.html

I have seen the 70/30 a lot is that the best percentage to start with for my PG/VG
So what your suggesting is go ahead and use the nic juice as long as I put in the
right percentage that it is the calculations will figure out themselves?

I don't have a lot of flavors to experiment with..will work on that as I go along
Thanks for the help:)

I will have to call around, I understand that the tractor place near me has farm supplies and I can get pg there.
Is there a real need for the alcohol or water. I do have distilled water as I have well water and I'M NOT DRINKING IT..LOL
I did read that post, I will go back to it again thanks for all the help

Flavoring "cotton candy" PG 50 VG50

looks like you have some great answers here.....my question is the above posting.....who's flavoring are you using....the reason I ask is that most concentrated flavorings are pg and do not contain any vg.....the calculator that I believe you are using defaults to 50/50 you will want to change that too if you are indeed using a typical pg flavoring....

Hi Everyone, Im confused about my ratio also, if I use 50mg nic in pg base 20% flavoring(ex loranns) vg target 24mg lets say for 15ml what is my pg/vg ratio? I never added pg to my diy cause thought nic being in the pg base was already 50%. Have I confused everyone, Im confused!

I'm not sure what you mean, but I'm assuming that you mean if you are using 20% flavoring, have 50mg nic in pg, and used vg for everything else to end up with 24mg juice, what would your ratio be? If so, the answer is 68% pg, 32% vg. To make 15 ml, you'd mix: 7.2 ml of your base, 4.8 ml vg, and 3 ml flavoring.

(This is assuming that your flavoring is in a pg base, which it probably is.)

Yes, thats exactly what I was trying to figure out! So if you up the VG for vapor you will lose nic and flavor?

Yes, there is only nic in your base, so if you increase the amount of anything else (vg, flavoring, etc.), it reduces the amount of nic in the juice. It's all in the ratios. Same goes with flavoring: the more nonflavoring you mix in, the weaker the flavor will be.

Using one of the juice calculators makes it easy to figure exactly how much of what to mix to get the target you want. I use this one, but hear good things about keelalagirl55's suggestion, too.

I'm hoping a visual helps

Nicotine strength is what was on the bottle
then my choice of nicotine desired
amount to make
flavoring...I put 70/30 as I read a few times this is a good ratio of pg/vg, as you said with the Lorann flavoring there is pg already, so what is my best choice to put where the blue arrow is showing?

Then I noticed the pg/vg where my red arrow am I too put those amounts of pg and vg in and why does it stay at 50/50 even if I make other changes...

I hope this helps those that have been trying to explain this to me...

wow never to old to play in the chemistry lab, but not sure about the age stability...lol

Okay....start at the top.....the nic that you have....is it nic in pg? The percentages there refer only to what the nic is already mixed at...some suppliers sell 50/50 most is either in all pg or in all vg.....

The flavoring....should be 100 pg 0 vg for loranns
and then the last box of that row should be the % of your total mix you want to be flavoring....so if you want a mix at 10% flavoring (basic starting point with Loranns) then you will put 10 in that box.

edit: I don't have any flavorings that I use anything but 100 pg 0 vg.....

Now where your red arrow is...if you want your final mix to be a total of 50pg/50vg, then you have it correct....if you want 80/20 (pg/vg) then you need to change it....

At the top
Nic is from TW label reads 30mg 80/20 30ml
Using Loranns flavoring
Okay so where I put 70/30 it came to 10% when calculated
And I take it for throat hit and vapor that is were the changes come in where the red arrow is?

For your edit am I right in saying you only use flavoring that is 100% pg 0vg? are there other than loranns...I'm understanding this more, I hope to be able to hit the forums to do more research and learn more
