New Battery - Is 8 hr initial charge necessary?

Just got the 510 package from cignot, noticed they say to charge the batteries for 8 hours at first.

Is this really necessary? I've read into lithium ion batteries in the past, and once they are charged, there is nothing to gain from keeping them on the charger, in fact you are supposed to take them off as soon as the light is green. Thanks.

absolutely unnecessary. As soon as the charge light indicates it is charged, have at it!

Li-ion batteries do not have a memory like NiMh batteries do. However, paranoia has tricked many uninformed people into believing that all rechargeables behave like NiMh

Green means go

Once they've charged use them,no need for those hours once they're full.

Should be ready to go out of the box. Mine was.
