510 initial 8 hour charge, necessary?

I couldn't post this to the 510 forum since i am still restricted to this forum.

I am hoping I get my 510 tomorrow. I have read Joye's recommendations for the initial 8 hour charge , then use it for 20 mins , and then charge an additional hour. Is this really necessary? Has any one else actually done this or have you just charged it and started vaping?
My instinct , of course, is to pull this thing out make sure it is fully charged and go to town, but if this ultimately will hurt the battery i don't want to do it

What i did is make sure they we're fully charged and then went nuts with them. 1 month using them and theyre still kicking just as much.
I did read somewhere i think that lithium batteries did not absolutly require this charge/use a bit/charge thing but that it is still suggested simply as a precaution, worth looking into.

I did it with one of my batteries, didn't do it with the other 2. Notice absolutely no difference.

great, thanks for the info. I didnt think it really mattered but wanted to get an idea of other peoples experience.....
now I just cant wait to get it. Been living off my Blu for a month and cant wait to try a bigger model

I had the same experience as BubbyGreen. I can't tell the difference between the battery life of the ones I did the full charge to and the ones I didn't. Some of my batteries last longer than others, but it's random battery quality, not how long I charged them the first time.

You don't need to do that I can tell you from years of Li-ion experience that the memory effect does not exist for li-ion's. (Well maybe for laptops but that's the battery monitoring software getting a memory effect not the actual battery.)Top them off drain them dry do whatever (except set on fire) the protection circuit in MOST li-ions will allow you to charge however you like. For that matter fully charging the battery isn't even nessesary. (But I'm sure you want your first vape with a new piece to be a good one.)

So there you have it. The initial charge is not necessary and you can charge / discharge with batteries of this type without worry over their useful life.
