I got a sub tank mini and i have just started building on the rba. My first few coils have come out pretty good and worked well but im still experimenting. I just put on a coil thats about 3mm diameter and one of the legs was touching the outside of the coil, I got it adjusted so its not touching but its still fairly close.

Im wondering what would happen if a leg was up against the coil and you tried to fire it?

If that contact point makes a solid electrical connection to the post, it will behave as if that point on your coil is the new connection to that post. Electricity takes the path of least resistance. Your coil will behave as if it now has fewer wraps, meaning less resistance. If you're in variable voltage control, your mod will have to put out more current, but it should be limited by the device. If you're in variable wattage control, your mod will increase the voltage, which can lead to burnt e-liquid, wick, and a harsh hit. If you are using a mechanical mod, the battery tries to discharge through the circuit with an unknown lower resistance, which means an unknown high current, which can be very dangerous.
