@HotRod19579 is still MIA. How did you work with HotRod? On this thread? Through PM? Or some other way?

I am very worried about Rod, I have communicated with him via email several times in the past. I sent him email several months ago but never got a reply, which is totally unlike him.

HotRod posted this back in January:
I am without the use of one hand for a while so trying to avoid typing.
And his last post was in February. He has logged on a couple of times since then without posting (May 7th was the most recent according to his profile page). I don't know if his recovery from surgery is taking longer than expected, or if he is just really busy, but at least he seems to be staying on the correct side of the turf.
Here's hope all is well for him! :toast:

Thanks IDJoel. I guess that it is business as usual. We as a group have been able to handle all of the issues that have come up. No real bug fixes have been needed. We all deserve a pat on the back. I am certain that we can continue as long as needed, barring any programming issues.

As you say @Ed Sause; so far, so good!;) I understand that we all appreciate all the time, and effort, that HotRod has put into the development of his juice Calculator. If anyone is deserving of a break; it is certainly HotRod. With the depth, and longevity, of his involvement and support; his seeking out our feedback, and participation; many of us have developed an emotional investment too. (At least I can't think of another piece of software that I feel so committed to.) We are certainly spoiled!:D It only makes sense to me that there would be a genuine concern for HotRod's well-being. I will try to shush my inner child and remain patient, and let him have whatever time he requires; but the selfish part of me still wishes that he would just check in, and let us know he is okay.

I too am grateful, and proud, of how everyone has pulled together, and kept things chugging along. I think this is one of the calculator's bigger benefits. I hope we can continue to fill the gap until our skipper returns. I appreciate all of you!

Wounder if the was an android Companion for the Calculator
A few months back I started a thread about a new calculator that was available. Since that post I have received a lot of good input and have made several updates and added new features. I encourage you to download and try out the latest version. All feedback is welcome.

    Download links:
    Juice

    A summary of its features:
    Define and save ingredients
    • PG/VG percentage levels
    • Nicotine level (pre-mix ingredients)
    • Drops/ml and grams/ml
    • Cost of ingredient
    • Notes associated with ingredient

    Define and save recipes
    • Nicotine, PG and VG level
    • Selection of defined ingredients to add
    • Notes associated with the recipe
    • See resulting amounts to add (drops, ML’s, grams) and total cost of the recipe

    Modify an existing mix
Have you ever created a mix and would like to change the nicotine level, increase or decrease a flavor percentage, change the PG/VG ratio or add additional ingredients while maintaining the same ratios of your other ingredients? The “Modify recipe” option will do this. After making your changes you will be informed how much of each ingredient to add to bring your existing mixture to the new levels.

Build a recipe by entering ingredient amounts
Have you ever mixed something up by throwing together several ingredients and wanted to create a repeatable recipe by specifying the amount of each ingredient added? The “Build recipe” option will do this. Enter the amount of each ingredient added and then save the new recipe.

Includes a calculator to “Dilute nicotine” to a different mg/ml level and dilute to obtain a different PG/VG ratio.

Export your recipe(s) and ingredients to Excel.

Import your existing recipes from other popular calculators.

Search your existing recipes to find recipes that contain one or more of the ingredients specified.

Before you start using the calculator, make sure you setup your preferences on how the calculator operates by going to the “Options” window.

Unfortunately there are no android or apple apps for this calculator. There is however a work around if you have a dropbox, one drive, or google drive account. You can load the portable version on one of these accounts and run it from your android, apple smart phone.

Is there a way to get your total amount of flavors from the calculator without counting each one of them?
You can find that info down at the bottom in the "Results" section. :D

Unfortunately, it doesn't display a value for total flavor volume (if that is what you are looking for), but it is easy enough to find by multiplying Flavor % x Total Volume. In the above example it would be 9.1% x 15mL = 1.365mL (0.091x15mL=1.365mL).

    Sorry; my bad!:blush::)

I don't know of anything within the calculator that shows a current quantity (a specific numerical value) for the number of ingredients.

I did play with the export feature (Tools>Export To Excel) some time ago (Sept. of last year), and found that when viewed in a spreadsheet program (such as Microsoft Office, or Apache OpenOffice), the regular spreadsheet layout automatically numbered the rows/ingredients.

It is not perfect; as it includes all ingredients (including PG, VG, Nic, adjuncts, regardless of on-hand amount). But, with a little creative use of the program's "Sort" feature, you can fairly easily shuffle things around to get the quantity refined. If you want more details of how I went about sorting (not saying it's the best/fastest/easiest; just how I fumbled through it.), just let me know, and I will elaborate. :D

I think this has been covered before but I can't seem to find the thread now....

When printing labels, through the button located on the interface next to the exit and save button, should the ingredients as well as last made date be updated as well or is this only when printing through the "Print Label Advanced..." located under the file menu options?

I found the option to have the ingredients reduced and recipe added to the steeping list located in the Options, under the Recipe defaults...

Well, the option is there but.... When printing the label from the interface button, the ingredients are not reduced nor is the recipe added to the steeping list. This kinda stinks.... I'd love a one click option that prints the label, reduces the inventory, updates the last made date, and adds the recipe to the steeping list....

it's a nice calculator with lots of options, and is now my go to calculator, just because it does so much more than just mixing calculations.

but something I feel is missing is the ability to have a viewable database of juices you've made, the steeping section is all well and good, but can become confusing if you have made recipes of the same name, or you have many juices on the go, some old, some new etc, sometimes you just want to know about the latest juices that are steeping with a quick look, but when you remove older juices from the steeping section it's essentially gone.

it would be good to be able to move or mark a steeped juice in to a ready for use or similar where you could maybe update it with amounts of juice you have used or mark as getting low on so they can be mixed again, much like the ingredients and inventory sections for ingredients, but for made up juices, where you can add notes etc to a specific batch of juice.

maybe even the possibility to attach a kind of 'batch number' to a recipe when it's made, that you can also add to the labels and search in the made up juices for.

it would also be nice to have all these 'made' juices as being exportable to the 'export to excel' sheet that contain all your recipes and ingredients.
