I just posted a new version, 3.1.0.8. Most of the changes were related to printing.

Here is a summary of the changes:
  1. When I added the single/double spacing options I caused some printed fields to be overlaid. Fixed.
  2. I now better align the ingredient values when printing (aligned on decimal points).
  3. Fixed the print preview button in the label printing window.
  4. Added a "print recipe preview" menu item.
  5. Relocated the "Add ingredient" button so that it does not scroll when the ingredients are scrolled.
  6. I discovered that when new labels templates were created that they were not being saved. Fixed.
  7. Several other small cosmetic changes

When importing a folder of recipes, the program imports duplicate named recipes, and renames with an added (x), could you add a dialog to offer options, skip, rename, continue.

Also, just had this happen, I often have a really busy screen (lots of windows open). I imported some recipes from a directory, and after finishing the import the program window was reporting a "not responding" status, waited a bit, thought it had crashed. I then attempted to close with the "X" in upper right hand. Discovered it had not crashed, but was waiting for a close of the report window after importing the folder full of .rec files. Can you force focus priority of that window so it does not get buried?

Let me look into prompting for duplicates. I will check but I thought the import report was given focus.

I am starting to think that I am in over my head but a lot of brute force seems to help. It's a good thing nobody is recording me when I am testing, lots of foul language seems to help.

A new version was made available, V3.1.0.9

Updates include:
  1. I had accidently removed the "default recipe" value from the options window. Fixed.
  2. When importing recipes from .REC files, prompt the user when the recipe is a duplicate and give the user the option to:
    • Choose a new name for the recipe
    • Let the importer decide on a new name (how it worked previously)
    • Skip the import of the duplicate recipe
    • Allow the user to apply the "Skip" or "Let importer decide" to all other duplicate recipes
  3. When importing all .REC files in a directory, stopped doing all of the window refreshes until the last recipe is imported. You will notice that the import will run MUCH quicker.
  4. Added a new menu option, "Edit->Copy Recipe".

The dialog was added in the version I just posted.

I checked and the logging window is given focus. I think the issue that you were seeing is because you had many other windows open and forced the focus to move off of the logging window.

Het HotRod. Looks like ya been busy again. I just thought of something that would be nice if you could pull it off. That would be to be able to print multiple lables of a recipe at one time instead of having to back to the beginning. You can do it buddy! Got faith in ya. Thanks
Have a great day!

Thanks HotRod, yes, that is what caused the issue I had, not so much your software, as my habits, was not sure if a change was possible to prevent it.

Let me see what if I can make allowances for printing multiple labels. I assume that you would want to print different recipes on each label?

Hey Hotrod!

I hope everything is going well! Gotta tell you I am absolutely loving your calculator.

When adjusting your PG/VG percentages in the recipe. I have noticed that when going UP in the percentages, it automatically adjust the other ( awesome to keep at 100! total!), but when you go down in percentage on either, it will NOT adjust the other - Can this possibly get fixed when you do another release.

The other question I have or suggestion I have - What I would love to see is the TRUE cost in making a batch of E-juice, What I mean by this is the cost takes into account all the Ingredients, but does not include the cost of the bottles. I know there are other items such as labeling and what not, but it would be a nice addition. Perhaps I am just trying to overthink things! I normally do....LOL

Jeff,
The calculator already does cost. For each ingredient, you set the $/ml cost. Then when you make a recipe, it calculates total batch cost based on the ingredient cost and amount used. Look in the summary section to the left of the message window, and you will see a entry for batch cost. As you change the recipe, this cost will change.

If you have an ingredient that does not have cost information, you will see a message about it being unable to calculate a correct batch cost.

Hey Ratchet!

Yeah I know the calculator has the cost figured in, But what it doesnt include is say the cost of bottles. Not that that is a big deal as it would be easy to add that cost to get a true cost of making a batch of E-Juice. It is probably more hassel than what its worth to add to the program

Oh, sorry, must have misunderstood your comment//question. Rereading it again, I see what you meant. Sorry about that.

My bottles are free, as I have a ton I have saved from purchased juice. Makes me feel like I'm getting my money's worth from store bought.

There is a simple fix to the issue you are describing but first, let me give you the long answer :)

Some people, I am probably one of the few, want to know their actual PG and VG percentages. For example if you were to add 10% water to your recipe I want to know that my PG = 40% (not 50%) and my VG is 50%.
Other people, most of the people, always want their PG + VG to equal 100% even though it contains non PG/VG ingredients.

In the Tools->Options on the General tab there is a check box with a lengthy description. On the bottom of the window. You currently have it checked. Uncheck it.

PG + VG can never be more than 100% regardless of the option which is why you see the values automatically adjust when you make the values go above 100%.
With the checkbox checked, you can have less than 100% PG+VG which is why it doesn't automatically adjust when decreasing a values.

Make since?

Version 3.1.0.10 was posted.
  1. A bug was found when dragging and dropping recipes and importing recipes that had PG/VG entries associated with a manufacturer. The results of the bug was two PG & VG entries for the recipe being created.
  2. Changes to the printout when printing recipes.
  3. Several internal structural changes.

I have two changes that I would like start working on and I would like to solicit some input on how to implement these changes.
- Inventory tracking
- Recipe versioning

Inventory tracking
I am thinking that I need to add a field on the ingredient window which will allow you to enter the volume that you have on hand. This field should allow you to manually update and change the value. I am also thinking that I should put a button next to the cost values. When you receive new inventory you would enter the volume and total cost and then click the button to update the inventory. Should the new cost/ml be reflective of the latest value entered or should I keep a running tally of all previous cost/ml values?
On the recipe window I would need to add a button to "decrement" inventory. The volume amounts of each of your ingredients would be decremented by the amount called for in the recipe.
Now, what do I do with these values? If you have a recipe displayed but don't have enough in inventory for the recipe displayed a warning in the warning window? What types of other queries?

Recipe versioning
I am thinking that I should put a button on the recipe window to "create new version". When clicked the recipe that is displayed will be copied and a version number will be assigned to it. Questions:
Should the version be added to the normal recipe dropdown resulting in multiple copies (versions) of the same recipe being displayed? Or should the older versions only be available for display when the current version of the recipe is displayed?
Should the older versions be read-only copies?
When a recipe is deleted, delete all versions of the recipe?
Should I allow an option to delete older versions?

Thanks for the update Hotrod. Just downloaded it. I spent the morning double checking the weights on some of my ingredients, including my nic. Here's how I've been doing it.
